Prius Met With An Accident

Recommended Posts

The crumple zones are there. It looks like from the way this crash happened, the crumple zones were not hit that hard. The passenger side A pillar and roof took the majority of the impact.

Interesting deformation of the A pillar and roof. Looks like a concrete post fell on it.

how did it manage to have the post on top of it?

By the way does it have wheel covers on right side and alloys on the left

looks like it had wheel covers over the alloys and two have come off :blink:

where's the crumple zone? how come that dash board and the steering wheel popped into the passenger compartment that severly? :o

actually the dash/steering look to be in the right place for the prius except for steering wheel moving downwards (compared to the frame, which seems to have retained shape except for windscreen caving in). However it looks like the driver seat has been pushed forward (very short driver or moved after accident?)

Same pictures received today via email with a note saying driver and passenger injured or died with serious burns due to high voltage in the car. but doesn't look like any fire involved.

The p-use looks a lot better this way

Actually there's a 3rd hub-cap behind the car to the right.. and the right side wheels are silver, which means the 3 hubcaps on the ground didnt come from this. And the fact that there are THREE i'm guessing there was a 2nd vehicle involved. this 2nd vehicle probably ran into the lamp post which fell onto the prius. Else hard to imagine a car running into a lamp post and then ending up under it.

Thats probably some anti-hybrid dumbass trying to be cheeky and start a chain-mail..

Those are the wheel covers for this car. Under the covers is the alloy wheel. Sort of backwards but the covers are there for aerodynamic reasons. Pointless IMO.

Must've moved the seats after the accident to get people out etc. If there was any death due to high voltage it's unlikely it was anything to do with the car, but possibly due to an electric short from the post that fell on it. Hope there was nobody in the passenger seat, cos it doesn't look good for them. By the way, anyone know the crash test ratings for a prius? It looks really plastic inside. Tried looking it up but got bored after the first 2 or 3 empty links.

Prius has an overall safety rating of "Good" and is a "Top Safety Pick"

G = Good (Best rating possible)

A = Acceptable

M = Marginal

P = Poor (Worst rating possible)

The hood being completely intact shows they did not frontally hit a tree, lamp post or electricity pole. The square shape of the crash bar deformation and the height of the damage suggests they hit one of those bumper-height concrete 'pillar' crash barriers.

If the seat really was that far forward during the crash there would be blood on that airbag.

The seat moving forward during the crash is highly highly unlikely.

The seat was most likely moved forward after the crash to access the rear of the car because the back doors jammed from the front and rear roof deformation.
