My Viva Elite AC compressor got busted. workshop quoted me 22000 for a reconditioned Japanese one and brand new unbranded Malaysian compressor 26000. Please advice me on deciding between brand new one and recon one.

You should have asked "What is the most (fuel) economical petrol car that you have used?" For this question there is a separate thread and most of the cars in Sri Lankan market is extensively discussed. From my experience in Sri Lanka when asking about fuel economy from another person, most of the time you will get an exaggerated false answer.

For HDI engine recommended oil is ESSO fully synthetic.However due to unavailability of Esso, we use Mobill Delvac 1 or other fully synthetic oils.

From my experience when it comes to Euros, diesels gives less troubles than petrol. Think about fuels consumption as well, 406 HDI will be more economical than aPrius.

I dont know the current value.but back in 2002 it was around 15000LKR at carmart. Anyway its not a big issue. since you are referring to a diesel check the engine and turbo condition.

Peugeot 406 HDI is known for a crank pulley fault. symptoms are rattling sound and loss performance from engine.

Millage is seriously effected by deterioration of the rubber. Most of the vivas had to prematurely replace the tyres due to cracks appeared in the side wall.

timing belts should be replaced in 100000km or within five years.

My First question why did you replace the engine at a such a low mileage? Could be a problem with VGT actuator system

Almost all the new Euros are the same. New Audi's are worst, they come with a coded battery and you have to replace it with an original one. 80AH original battery for Q7 will cost around 40000 LKR. Worst case is Q7 is equipped with two batteries.

To my knowledge we cant check the exact RPM through a OBD scanner only parameter you can get is fan on/off status (discrete)
