Cabin Filter for EC. It was a quite struggle to find out VIC AC-201 EX Cabin filter for EC. It looks the VIC is almost comparable to MANN filter (Germany) which came originally. Interesting, this filter would fit to Lancer too:)

Regarding Agents, UM .... I did a brake service one year ago at UM, Kandy. I was not impressed with the work they did. It seems, quality of the work is depend on the experience of the worker who is handling the vehicle. The main issue is these places do not have established protocols to follow when a repair is done... These are some observations 1. The guy who did the work applied normal grease to caliper pins. Fortunately, I noticed it. I was able to get cleaned everything and lubricated with silicone based grease (so called rubber grease) 2. Spilled brake fluid in the engine bay. They don't have an appropriate funnel to do the work. 3. Last weekend, I did the brake service by myself. Found that the guy has interchanged the caliper pins (one with rubber bush) when fixing it. The result was the caliper pin boot was damaged!!!!!. 4. Rear, left caliper pins were not properly lubricated. The brake pad was irregularly worn. I would be hesitate to go the kandy branch of UM, I hope the colombo branch would have better service personnel.

Yes, the price difference is significant.... Ordered through Amayama...Lets see whether any taxes will be imposed!!!!!!

Hi, But there a quite a price difference between Partsouq and Amayama (35 dollers). However, Amayama does not show photos of the product

Time to replace Brake Pads for My EC....... The price is nearing 60k in Agents...........So sort of tried to source it in the outside market. I found a joint in the web and the place boasts about using genuine brake pads for EC. So, why not to try....Called them today and the price for both front and rear breaks said to be Rs. 31,000.00. Insisted for the online payment too.....anyways no one should do it, unless the item is seen and delivered... Then I asked them the photos of brake pads, and without a delay they sent them.... See the boxes of pads below... Those look genuine.... See the comparison of offered product (top) and the original part which came with the vehicle(bottom) The one said to be original by the vender is "Sumitomo", but the genuine part should be from "Advics". I haven't heard about sumitomo break pads much. But, bit of internet search reveled that this sumitomo thing is available in Alibaba for 20 dollers. Noticed in some russian sites too. It seems the vender in Sri Lanka is keep on fooling EC owners by selling a counterfeit. See the offered brake pad for the rear (top) and the original (bottom). Though, the offered pads are Advics I really doubt about whether they are genuine. Even the part number does not match.... Guys,,,, This is how our cunning venders try to fool us. Always, do a good web search before buying parts from outside. I am trying to import it from Amayama!!!!

Hardly get a chance for Italian Tune Up......since this is mostly driven in the city......
-
Hi All, Just today I got the third emission report of my EC. It looks the Hydrocarbon level has gradually risen with millage.... Does this tell any clue for the need of an engine tune up or is it an acceptable change. I am not sure about the variability of measurements done by our emission control centers, however I got it done at the same place in all three occations.

Time to Replace Windscreen Wipers....... Driver side : NWB NU-024 R Passenger side: NWB NU-020 R Total cost around Rs. 7000.00. Of course there are cheaper alternatives too, believe me NWB looks really solid even better than OEM For people opt for UM: Total cost would be Rs. 18,000.00 Hope this would be useful......

This is the best way. However, these new vehicles need the scanner to even release rear break pads and clean it. I was not sure such facilities available in regular places.

I went there because had to change the gear box oil. I could not find a trustworthy place in kandy to it trustworthy.

Toyota C-HR - Problem in Fuel Injectors (GDI)

You are correct. That's why we see the build up of a slight carbon deposit in the tail pipe of CHR- 77 replies

Yeah, given it is a product recommended by the manufacturer, it would be good to use it. Further, I think TL doesn't have equipments to clean these injectors, that is why they go for this option.- 77 replies

That's the TL recommendation. May not be necessary, I opted for it since usually it involves a minor cost.... The Eclipse Cross service manual recommends an interval of 45000 km under severe use and 85000 km under normal use. I could not found information for CHR

Hi all, By closely inspecting the bill of of the service at 40000 km (without engine oil change, as I do it at home), I wondered whether I wasted my hard earned money at the agent, being a vehicle enthusiast having basic knowledge to do key maintenance work by my self. Moreover, pay your attention on the charge they have made for Differential Gear Oil. Once I back home, I realized that they have over-charged for differential oil change. They have costed for 3.6 L of differential to change the oil in CHR which is having a capacity of just 1 L. I got refunded Rs. 6000 odd for this over-charge done by the agent. However, they never apologized. You can imagine what happened to someone who doesnot know anything about the capacity of differentials (front and rear). Just see the staggering amounts the TL has charged for even for very minor things. I believe it would be better to avoid such minor things done by the agent......

Hi All, I had my chr serviced at TL (40000km). They recommended using the following injector cleaner once in 10,000 km. Is it just a bold attempt to sell this product or could there will be any advantage? Anyways, I purchased it but did not used it so far!!!- 77 replies

No body, even "Waima" cannot grantee the quality of those so called "reconditioned parts". We are living in a part of the world where majority of people go for quick bucks

Agreed,......This stupidity is expressed on the road as well...

Hi All, Many of us including myself do the routing maintenance work including oil/filer change to save time wasted at service stations as well as the do the work properly. Though, we focus mainly on oilchange/oil filter change/airfilter change/cabinfilter change like key maintenance aspects, I thought it would be better to create a check list of activities thus the work done properly. First we can list the set of activities then our experts can quote each activity and add more details,,,,,,, 1. Check drive belt for cracks, fraying, wear, and adjust its tension 2.Check intake air hose for damage (vehicles with turbocharger) 3. Check radiator hoses for damage and proper connection 4. Check engine coolant level in reservoir 5. Check air cleaner element for clogging and damage 6. Replace air cleaner element 7. Check fluid level in brake reservoir and clutch reservoir 8. Change brake fluid - better done at the agent 9. Check battery condition 10. Check suspension system for damage and looseness 11. Replace fuel filter - through agent 12. Check suspension arm ball joints for play, and dust covers for damage 13. Check driveshaft boots for damage 14. Check steering linkage for damage and loose connections (including seals and boots) 15. Check manual transmission for oil leakage 16. Check transfer for oil leakage 17. Check exhaust pipe connections for gas leakage, and check pipe installation 18. Check brake pedal and clutch pedal for free play 19. Check brake pads and discs for wear 20. Check fuel hoses and pipes for leakage or deterioration 21. .
