Honda City (Gd8) Idle Drops Way Below Than 500
PerfMad replied to PerfMad's topic in HONDA SRI LANKA
Hey Guys Latest update.... Looks like the culprit was the fuel pump( i assume that's what you mean by fuel pressure regulator). The one which was replaced was also a defect(had a leak) and due to that I had issues with starting (usually car starts from 3 cracks, but after replacement it was 4-5). Changed the fuel pump again with a good one and everything was sorted. Total cost was around 13k (tuneup, 1 coil pack replacement, fuel pump & labor) Thanks for your valuable inputs guys.. -

Hi All -->[ Latest update ] I got the car yesterday and mechanic have done like 5-10km ride and he claimed issue didn't come up.. I also drove it for like 5-10km and the issue came up again. After the recent changes yesterday i felt like; - Car cranks few more times than it was before to get it started (what could be the issue ?) ** I'm gonna put the car to the mechanic again tomorrow to get it scanned Could this be due to CVT gearbox failure ? Yesterday I noticed that once I put it to D and hold the brake paddle for sometime rev goes down and it starts to shake and feel like gear engaging and disengaging .. sometimes it keeps happening, but sometime when i release the brake paddle it moves without any issue.. -

Hi Gayan Yes i was referring to this. And he have replaced the broken one, not quite sure whether its a recon or brand-new. I was told that it cost 6000. Even after that issue didn't resolve. Latest update is, he has replaced the fuel pump in petrol tank which again cost me 3000. Hope that will fix the issue.. Anything else that can be think of ?? -

Hi Davy I really can't remember what he told, but he said there was lot of carbon and he cleaned everything.. I need to check with him whether he cleaned Idle Air Control valve and MAF sensor as well ( Thanks for reminding me that) Im not pretty sure he checked those or just cleaned the throttle body + injectors -

No tappet sound.. Engine runs smoothly even in neutral, issue comes only when the gear is engaged. Cannot move the car at all, more I press the gas pedal more it try to stall, as soon as I put it to neutral it idles properly. -

When i meant by plugs i think i was referring to coil packs.. Mine has 8 packs (8 spark plugs) so only one was broken and replaced it.. Just called the mechanic and I was told that petrol pump was blocked a bit (he has replaced it).. He will do few trails .. could it happen due to anyother reason? Since this doesnt happen always as in as soon as u start or not may b in short distance sometimes, its not easy to replicate the issue as well.. But last few days issue came up everytime, therefore mechanic is checking everything related to fuel line at the moment. -
Hum/rattling Sound - Disappear With Clutch Pressed
PerfMad replied to LancerL's question in Mechanical problems
Hi LancerL Sorry to hear that you still couldn't rectify the issue.. I couldn't check mine after that also and sold mine few days ago. Anyways Its better to get it to another mechanic and get his opinion as well. Keep us posted on your findings. Cheers -
Hi Guys.. Few weeks back my honda city GD8 (2004) model car started an engine miss when I change the gear to D position or any other driving mode position. When I put it to Neutral it stays without any miss. Only issue is this issue doesnt come always.. It comes after like running it 2-3km (when the engine is HOT) or sometimes it doesnt happen even if you run like 10km. When I told this to my mechanic he did the following : 1. Did a engine tune-up (exactly after 1 day issue came up again) 2. Checked the plugs, out of 8 plug wires one was broken therefore replaced that as well (issue didnt disappear) 3. Checked the fuel pressure of the engine bay filter (i think that's the correct name) and it has the required pressure as well 4. Today he will be checking the fuel pump in petrol tank to rectify the issue. I would like to get your opinions as well if anyone have face similar issues ?? NOTE: Car have done 126k genuine millage & has a 7 speed CVT gearbox Cheers

If battery is dying it could be due to either alternator belt not tight enough of issue with ur alternator as well.. Best thing is to check the charging voltage with and without AC and lights are ON.

GD 6 is 1300cc ya? does it come with a CVT gear box as well ? does it have triptronic gears? i thought it came with a normal gear box since one of my neighbor complained its not even doing 10kmpl in city limits.

Did you try cleaning both sensors ? first check the connection and then get them cleaned properly and see whether issue persists.

Gear Shift Not Smooth - 2004 Civic Es8 Exi (1.5Cc)
PerfMad replied to manbes8's question in Mechanical problems

Gear Shift Not Smooth - 2004 Civic Es8 Exi (1.5Cc)
PerfMad replied to manbes8's question in Mechanical problems
I believe your comes with a normal automatic gear box (not CVT), and first thing is check when was the last time you changed your gear oil and if it has done more than 30-35k km's do a gear box oil change. Probably your oil must not be having the required thickness. If it doesnt work, you might need to show it to a good garage and get his opinion. What's the current millage of yours? However if you always face that you need to rev upto 3000 , then it could be a problem with your TPS as well ( but since yours isn't happening always, start with an oil change, that should sort out your problem) And ya, better to get it checked and changed ASAP. -
@Goro - please go through below thread where many people have suggested places to get your AC problem sorted. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/17567-ac-is-noisy-good-places-to-repair-and-cost/?view=getnewpost

Ac Is Noisy! :( Good Places To Repair And Cost..
PerfMad replied to vishwa.j's question in Mechanical problems
Hi Vishwa.j - If you are close to ettul kotte, then you can get this fixed by AUTO AC spot where its situated right next to ethul kotte bus stand.. Recon condenser should be less than 20k, and since this will need refilling I believe everything should cost you less than 25-30k -
Vitz Ksp90- Whistling Sound From Silencer
PerfMad replied to hawkrider84's question in Mechanical problems
Hey There, To me it look like worn out bushes where your silencer is been fixed, may be during idle your car must be shaking a bit and the vibration comes as a sound. Not so sure but better to check it out. Keep us posted with your findings.. Cheers -
Hi Sovi Why don't you start with changing the gear box oil? It will not cost you much. Sometimes this could be due to lack of thickness in the oil and could be due to low pressure in gear box till it warm up. My suggestion is try changing the gear box oil (that will be the default answer you will get where ever you go). If that doesnt fix your problem, then get it checked with Auto gear box repair centre like Nilwala as someone mentioned.

@stig - ya.. because when we compare with a normal gear box, maintaining a CVT is quite expensive and since it cannot be repaired like other general gearboxes, replacing one is not always the better option we have... luckey007 & nsiva - I also have a Honda CVT and im saying these with experience.. If the gearbox is faulty then ur done.. simply bcz it cannot be repaired bcz it will cost u a fortune + only option is to replace and that gearbox condition also unknown. Stafford says a recondition would do maximum of 45-50k then ur done again..
