And they call automatic drivers gay! ?

You know it's not the car, its the driver... ? With the right mindset you can enjoy driving a belta too. Besides, most of my outstations drives are on deserted roads

First Service (CRV) - Mineral or Synthetic Oil
Hyaenidae replied to monty's topic in General Automotive
Seeing as both oils are recommended by the manufacturer, it all boils down to this. The added wear protection of the 30 grade oil or the fuel economy of the 20 grade oil, its up to the owner of the vehicle to decide. -

My street racing days ended when a cop seized my temporary licence for speeding ? bugger refused to write me a ticket saying its a straight court case if you get caught driving recklessly on your trial licence (in other words, "cough up Rs. 500 or I'll make you spend twice that before you see your licence again!" ?)

First Service (CRV) - Mineral or Synthetic Oil
Hyaenidae replied to monty's topic in General Automotive
I'd think not... the hot exhaust from the front car is being sucked by the engine, the road itself, pavement heated up so much its like the vehicle is slowly cooking on a stove, no air movement past the radiator so minimal heat dissipation... -
First Service (CRV) - Mineral or Synthetic Oil
Hyaenidae replied to monty's topic in General Automotive
Even the C-HR can take upto 10W30 engine oil. And look what the manufacturer says: "The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions." When the engine runs hotter, thicker oil provides more protection according to the manufacturer. -
I think you could give @Magnum a run for his money if its a downhill run from Kandy to Matale in your stock swift. It's not like a KDH can corner as well as a Swift, even if its GTR powered

Not really. You can use upto 10W30. https://www.honda.co.jp/ownersmanual/webom/jpn/crv/2019/details/136162090-13233.html -

This is why Since the CR-V can use oils upto 10W30 according to the manufacturer, it is safely assumed that using a thicker oil (Eg: 5W30) is beneficial in a Sri Lankan context. -
Do dreams come true? = YES (Bought a lancer ex)

The reversing light looks inadequate in the sequential rear light set, the other one has reversing lights on the bumper too, maybe to mitigate that problem. OEM reversing lights are comparatively very bright and a real help in night- 233 replies

Octane boosters. For example, Avgas and Toluene... Avgas has an octane rating of 100 so 6 liters of Avgas mixed with 4 liters of 95 octane petrol would make 10 liters of 98 octane fuel. Toluene has an octane rating of 121, so 1 liter of toluene mixed with 9 liters of 95 octane petrol would make 10 liters of 98 octane petrol.

Go take a look at team-bhp, the Indian equivalent of AutoLanka; DSG transmissions of VAG doesn't fare any better in India than DCTs of Honda in Sri Lanka -
There's no need to match the local temp range I think, something in the middle like 5W30 would provide better protection under harsh conditions of SL roads IMO I remember @iRage offering an explanation about this: So, since thermal absorption is a higher priority than extremely cold (like 0 deg celcius or less ambient temp) start flow rate for us Sri Lankans I guess an oil like 5W30 would be a better choice, especially since turbocharged engines run hotter than NA ones. Even the turbo version of the WagonR recommends 5W30.

mmc-manuals.ru is where you'll find the russian manual Apparently the EC can take upto 20W50 oil

Now THIS is an oil change! Had it been a service station you'd never see the mechanic using a torque wrench on the oil pan plug ? were you doing the service on your own since 2018 or is this the first time you diy'ed the oil change? About the oil dipstick being unclear: you could refer to the owners manual and find the oil capacity of the vehicle. Mine calls for 4L fo the pan + 0.2L for the filter, I get the UNIMO guys to dump a 4L can and its perfectly level or slightly below the 2nd hole on the dipstick. Or you can dump the waste oil into old 4L cans to find out the exact amount of drained oil. About the viscosity, since yours being a turbo and considering the driving conditions of SL won't it be better if you used something like 5W-30? Check owners manuals for Australian or Russian markets, I've a hunch that a thicker oil might have been recommended for those markets. The oil pan plug gasket is available at UNIMO workshops, costs Rs. 99.13/-! ?
