The phrase "automotive" brings to mind the Design and Development of components that are used in an "automobile". But even one product like an Electronic Control Unit is developed by teams consisting of Electronics,Software,Mechanical and Application engineers. The phrase"Automobile engineer" would bring to mind, System Engineers who are responsible for the overall vehicle project. Usually they come from an engineering background in electronics,mechanics or software and many years experience in automotive product development. There is no way to become such a system engineer in a country with no automotive industry.

Calculation of [Range] is using [Fuel level], [fuel rate L/h] and the [speed km/h]. Its not " just a calculation" like a maka bass may think. It is also safety -critical because 1.many drivers nowadays are using [Range] instead of [fuel level ], as the [range] is exactly what he needs to know when driving on low fuel level it's also safety-critical 2. When the [fuel level] and [Range] show conflicting information, it can confuse the driver. In a developed country this is enough to take the vehicle manufacturer to Court when the driver is fined for entering the highway without enough fuel and causing an accident. After a crash is detected, the vehicle has many safety feature like injection stop,Ignition Stop, fuel cut-off to prevent a fire. The cars just don't crash and burn anymore like in the Tamil movies. On the other hand, the unstable nature of Li-IOn batteries especially after a Crash is a major Engineering challenge,to which no real cost effective solution exists until now.

In many countries, Rescue workers are provided special training how to Cut open Electric and Hybrid cars in case of accidents and rescue the passengers without electrocuting themselves. Specially the Li battery can start burning even when it is stored in a Yard due to spontaneous internal short-circuits and Thermal Imbalances many days after an accident. Don't get killed messing with High Voltage,it is not like connecting a small motor to a pen-torch battery and turning a Vesak Lantern.

This may be normal for Gayanaths' Aqua, but not for any car in general. ? The range is considered to be a safety critical information these days, just like vehicle speed. If a driver thinks he has enough range while driving in the highway when the real range is less, this could lead to Engine Stall at high speeds and end in a deadly accident. But as long as the driver also considers the Fuel gauge and the real range is more than the shown range, it should be safe. In any case I would get a scan done, since it will reveal if there is a major problem.

Better look for another model, 2 people I know had to change the battery within 3years of use.
