  1. GM is like the serial killer of the car world. Saab, Hummer, Pontiac, Saturn & now this.
  2. Congrats on your car! Based on our environment, 40,000km does seem okay, but I'd recommend earlier changes at 25,000km just to be safe. When bought from the right place, oil is wayyyyyyy cheaper than a gearbox repair bill.
  3. Your idea is good but there are buggers who wind down the mileage right before the emissions checkup. Yeah, I wonder how these people will face god. A bunch of heartless bastards. But there's no way to save the car industry here, it's gone way too deep. What about car manufacturers making odometers hard to crack? It would be great public service.
  4. It's not the worst car in the world though is it? Yanks like powerful big cars with a mix of comfort & utility for crunching highway miles. So a hatchback is pretty much useless there. Then there's the Fiesta ST.
  5. Saw a diffuser & quad tip on a lancer box last week. Good for fuel economy & 2nd market value I guess...
  6. A 1959/early 60's mini can be had for 600k (1000cc carb, no AC, no PS, a sunroof if you're lucky. Pure Go kart for the road) But he has to keep another 100-150k for maintenance.
  7. Can't say for sure without a check. Did you get the light before the hose blowout? Are you sure none of the coolant was spilt on the alternator? I don't know how close the alternator and hoses are in a Rosa.
  8. I truly feel bad for the person who would buy that GP1 thinking it's a "reliable, cheap to maintain japan vahanaya with only 60,000km". Suspension components, timing chain, seals, bearings, bushings, mounts, electronics, hybrid battery, sensors, fluids, belts, would be seeing their way out soon for a vehicle with 'such few kms'
  9. Not yet lol
  10. But am I not #posh,#compact & a #supermodel?
  11. Not all heroes wear capes
  12. You got a blocked radiator it seems..and the head gasket must have gone by now. Why the hell is everyone losing a gasket these days? I blew mine last week due to a failed radiator cap & blocked radiator and in the garage, there were 4 or 5 vehicles (from a 2013 Allion to maruti 800s) that were there due to gasket failure. Maybe the climate isn't helping the cooling systems work better either. Like TT mentioned, the alt and all could be checked during the repair. I hope none of the coolant spilled on the alternator though.
  13. Sometimes even I forget what makes me like cars due to the everyday humdrum life..it helps bring out the inner child in us. That's a clean example! Also, look at that group's cover car?
  14. Look at you! Like a kid in a chocolate factory! For some reason, seeing this much excitement made me happy also lol. Anyways mat, what do you think of the corona mark 2?
  15. Just a rant: Seeing videos online of people in other countries trashing, hooning & intentionally damaging old VWs, BMWs, 350Zs, Accords, muscle cars, etc.. hurts cuz those same cars here cost millions & are rare :(

I put up this rant after seeing a dinged up E36 doing a drift right into a curb and blowing its tyre.

  16. What about a mk1/mk2 VW Golf? FWD but a funky solid hatch. A bit uncommon but they do exist well within budget. Parts are there but won't be as easy to find as a KE20 or any jap car though.
  17. Or 20 gedi minis
  18. When I saw the 20Mn price tag in the question, even before reading the description, I knew something was not right. Lol, just another day. Anyways, perodua viva elite is good for that price and meets your requirements.
  19. Like I said, he isn't a professional in electronics. He was guessing that somethinf maybe wrong with the harness or that there might have been a short circuit. So he was afraid to touch that side hence he recommended me an expert nearby. So I went and found out that the TPS & the connection related to the dashboard has broken clips due to the previous overheating incident that the plastics degraded and the clips weren't flexible so they had cracked on removal. It was a small job and I got it done along with an ECU scan. Everything is fine except now I blew another gasket again just after driving 3km. I called the darn mechanic and we both took the car to his garage. I will be going there in a few hours from now (when he is opening) and will observe every step he takes. I had only given him half his payment for the initial repair so he can't pull anythng on me. So yes..the garage stabbed me. Ironically, I made a post regarding careless garage buggers just a few days back.
  20. So I got my gasket replaced and once the work was done, I look at the dashboard to see that now there is a permanent airbag light. Also, when I revved the engine the instrument cluster would switch off and on rapidly. So the mech tapped on some plugs & wires and although the rapid flickering stopped, it does feel slightly twitchy. The radio & climate control LCD screen are perfectly fine though. Also, when I reached home, I noticed a variation in the sound and saw that the engine is idling at less than 800rpm. Mech isn't an expert on wiring but he told me I might have some sort of a short circuit/loose connection somewhere. Nothing wrong with the battery terminals, infact the positive terminal is new. I'll take it to a technician tomorrow morning, I just wanted to know what to expect. This car has started to stab me in the back now
  21. Just don't buy an MG if you want to have a peaceful and exciting motoring experience.
  22. Let him get named & shamed & beaten up again I guess. Also, our lankan consumers should understand the difference between caveat emptor and 'making the bugger pay up'. But this is also the reason why we can never own a european vehicle in this side, as all the experts and proper mechs are there in Colombo or far way places. Even a simple suspension repair can be disastrous for the wallet. Heck, one maka baas of a reputable spare parts shop broke our Vezel's downwards-tilting function of the rear view mirror when you put the gear into R (one mirror was worth 70k at that time). So they can't do jap cars properly, safe to say they can never think of touching a euro either.
  23. I guess condemning them on social media & google maps and telling others to avoid them (and giving them a sound beating incase something goes wrong) will help
  24. The Vitz has more features and gadgets compared to the Passo. Looks way better too IMO. right? @tiv
