  1. He always use 95.
  2. Since this is a very straight forward matter rather than going with general C-HR related topics, thought to open a new thread. One of my friend's C-HR (YOM 2018, millage 27,XXX km as of now and imported as 0 millage) had a fuel mis few days before with check engine and below warning messages "Check Engine. Visit your dealer" & "AWD System Malfuction. 2WD mode engaged. Visit your dealer". Vehicle is drivable but in low power mode only. He visited TL and found that 2nd cylinder misfire with codes P030027, P030085, P030200, P160500. Learning outcomes: 1. As he has been informed, TL does not have the facility to test for GDI Fuel Injectors. He (my friend) then called to a test bench manufacture in the UK and then they gave him a contact of one of their customer in Sri Lanka. When the injectors were taken to the place and tested, the other three is injecting 50 ml and the No. 2 injector is injecting 40 ml (per unit time). After ultrasonic cleaning it was increased to 55 vs 45 respectively. 2. After mounting, the engine runs well for about 2 hours but again the problem is the same. 3. TL still has no spare parts (GDI injectors). 4. He saw three other vehicles there with the same problem. So this will be a common problem. According to TL, this problem is due to contaminated petrol but I have my doubts on that.
  3. Found it... 21st October 2018 (Two years before) https://srilankamirror.com/news/11075-vehicles-adequate-for-five-yrs-imported Quote ... Motor vehicles adequate for the next five years had already been imported when an importation restriction was imposed, latest reports by the Department of Motor Vehicles, Central Bank and the Finance Ministry show. According to one of the reports compiled by a team of economists, the annual requirement of motor vehicles is 45,000. But, the country has imported 234,000 vehicles. They include 24,276 dual vehicles, which has an annual requirement of 4,000 only. The report also says 168,419 three wheelers have been imported, whereas the requirement is 20,000 a year. Although the country needs 300,000 motor cycles a year, 943,920 motor cycles have been imported. The report adds that these vehicle importations could lead to a severe foreign exchange crisis. ... unquote.
  4. And obviously... they have to cover a large profit margin from the customer to pay bank interest, land rent, etc. So, as I said above, allowing them to reduce inventory (and downsize) will ultimately reduce unnecessary costs and labor for this unproductive business (Because as ajm rightly said this is a zero value added business). We must allow workers in that field to move to other productive industries (construction, etc.) and this big mudalalis to invest for value adding businesses.
  5. There were some articles (probably last year) that there are enough unregistered vehicles stored in car dealerships in Sri Lanka for the next 5 years. (which means, available stocks = last 5 year total car registrations). If its true, then why government bother about them. Let them sell those first..... Otherwise, this will also be like a pyramid case. Who will pay for the investment (interests for the investment of that stock), space, etc. ? Let them down sized will reduce the price of vehicles in the market. Isn't it?
  6. Can't you remove the plastic inner panel by yourself and move the child lock?
  7. I also didn't think Toyota was wrong. I let him rethink his data without directly saying he was wrong ... ??. That’s why I show him a backwards calculation assuming his different running conditions to show how an ambient temperature change could occur to get his results.
  8. Can we expect such a large ambient temperature change in Kurunegala in the morning and afternoon?? What I just feel is, either Toyota is wrong or your data is incorrect or both. Isn't it? Trust me, I live in both Colombo and Matara and I have a habit of doing various tests as a hobby when time permits. I never observed such an air pressure difference ether for same pump or different pumps when I pumping air in the morning and afternoon. (using normal air)
  9. When we are reluctant to buy hybrids at the same price as a non-hybrid car, why do Japanese people buy hybrids at 27% more (I mean otherwise Toyota will suspend hybrids if it does not buy hybrids, right?) In Sri Lanka, if you buy a new battery from an agent, an HV battery will cost less than 12% of the car price and if you buy it elsewhere it will cost less than 8% of the car price. Just for a fruitful discussion....
  10. Your difference is 7 psi. Let's do backward a calculation using same chart. The fare case: If both of your morning and evening conditions are 2, then ambient temperature difference should be at-least 80 F = 44 C More optimistic case: If your morning condition is 2 and evening condition is 3, then ambient temperature difference should be at-least 54 F = 30 C Extreme case: If your morning condition is 1 and evening condition is 3, then ambient temperature difference should be at-least 33 F = 18 C Which country/city you are living?
  11. I agree with @kadsa98 I did it (removed dipstick while engine running) once for a very new engine (less than 15,000 km) and observed tiny oil bubbles. So, I never did it again.
  12. Why did you removed it during engine running? Don't do it.
  13. Did you see more smoke after replacing the fuel pump and coil packs ? or even before that? Generally, 120k+ is nothing for a Axio hybrid at-least you replaced oil and filter in every 15,000 km. (Assume he has done it lesser cycles). Does your friend know the complete history of the car? Cleaned MAF sensor? Didn’t you clean the petrol tank and add new petrol (from a recognized place like laugh) and drive for a few minutes? Excess smoke from tail pipe? Any delay of transferring EV mode to Engine ? 12v battery also should be at the end of its service life (7 years is more than average). The low voltage of the 12v battery also gives a lot of weird codes.
  14. When I coming from Matara early morning, Kaduwela exit to Office by normal root (if I exit from Kaduwela 6:30 am) - 15 km by normal root - 25 minutes Kaduwela to office via Outer circular + KEW - 30 km - 25+ min I choose Outer circular expressway for the peace of the mind (hassle free as well as the quality of the road)
  15. How much a 2014 Allion/Premio ?
  16. This is an excerpt from an old technical service bulletin (TSB). Although the main purpose of the TSB is not relevant to us (we are a tropical country), there is a valuable part in it that is relevant to us. Everyone knows that tire pressure increases when a tire heats up, but we do not know its numerical value. This graph is a good solution for that ..... (Its true that this is for few Toyota models but we could use this until we find a most suitable one for other models) Let us forget the ambient temperature difference axis (Axis 5) in this graph and consider only the points where the 0 F line intersects (0 F line along the axis 4). This gives a clear idea of how much more air pressure needed depending on the temperature variation of the tire in the three cases 1,2,3 when we inflate the tires. For example: In case of Cold Tire - Recommended psi value is required In case of Warm Tire - 2 psi more than recommended is required In case of Hot Tire - 4.5 psi more than recommended is required Note: Normally, the sticker pasted on door jamb shows the recommended "cold tire pressure" . Please find full TSB by this link for your further reference. https://attachments.priuschat.com/attachment-files/2015/10/96267_T-SB-0345-08.pdf
  17. Battery block voltage not matters (whether its 14 V or 16 V because it depends on it's "State of Charge") but the voltage difference matters. Difference between max to min 14.38 V - 13.99 V = 0.39 V (~ 0.4) is bit higher (for a vehicle at parking position). Probably this may be it's original battery and nearing it's final stage. If no other issues, and you are intended to buying for heavy use, no harm buying the car keeping Rs. 400,000 margin for battery replacement.
  18. Millage of the car? Plug replacement history? 12v battery condition? HV battery history? What are the other symptoms? 1. Oil burning? and the quantity (liters per 1,000 km)? 2. Any oil leaking? 3. Any smoke leaking? 4. Excess smoke from tail pipe? 3. Any delay of transferring EV mode to Engine ?
  19. Until we are having a well functioning and efficient "Consumer Affairs Authority", only few agents who really cares their good faith could be trusted. All others used to increase their profit by several underhand games as market survival is also not so easy and as consumers we have no place to complain rather than avoiding. One more known example: You can buy any TV remote (low quality product) from Pettah around Rs. 250. Knowingly some agents are purchasing same from pettah and selling at there store Rs. 1,000 - 2,500. Lot more stories are there...
  20. Two weeks before, I went Unity Plaza to buy an internal battery for my Acer Laptop. Checked with 5 - 6 shops and all are with the price range of Rs. 8,500 to 9,500 (while the agent price was Rs. 18,000+) and all looking same (except one shop) packaged in same type cardboard box and "Acer sticker" pasted on top of the battery. The box of the different one included the battery (having non printed blank black sticker on top of the battery) and the "Acer sticker" was also there in the box separately. The seller told me he didn't pasted it yet and could do if I required. The most funniest thing is, they told me the agent also buying from them and selling at higher price...............
  21. If no vibration is there before tune-up, then why you are going to replace mounts? Probably the guy who did it has cleared all learned parameters so, it will take some time to learn idle rpm + your driving pattern. How many kilometres you traveled after the tune-up? Wait till you drive 50 - 60 km s in different driving conditions with lots of start and stops. If nothing improved, then you could start further investigations.
  22. Is it possible to figuring out real millage by OBDII scanner if everything cleared by the person who tampered it?
  23. And keep in mind that, car sales normally tampering the millage so, 75,000 on the clock means probably 150,000 actually.
  24. Most of Chinese setup as well as some branded models not supporting for JDM car information.
  25. Agreed. Having ABS (or not) not matters for road worthiness... But as you also said, the level and quality of repair and maintenance matters...... Solution: Tax concession for School vans Consequences : Car sales will import vans under "School van" category and then modify for general purpose. Who cares law an order in this country??. If my memory serves me correct, there was a tax concession for mobile workshops then vehicle importers modified vans as mobile workshops in japan and imported here and then converted again. Same time, there should be ways to, 1. Discourage taking the car out from the garage unless its essential - In other words good Public transportation 2. Discourage buying cars - 2.1 - More Affordable means also good sign for faster depreciation which ultimately discourage buying new one Otherwise, do our economy could cater a vehicle import boom ??
