Remember Not To Use 95 Octane Petrol + Full Synthetic Engine Oil Same Time
Newbi replied to Nilantha's topic in The Lounge
I do my oil changes always on or before the 3000km mark and I use 95oct. Had the oil changed at the agents sometime ago along with the filter change. Not even 500kms after that I happened to open the oil cap on the engine and I found kind of a greasy stuff on it. I sent it back to the agents and they confirmed it to be engine sludge and got to know that they had used synthetic oil. "95Oct+Synthatic engine Oil = Sludge" Coincidence or not I do not know. I now use only XHP; No problems so far. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY "MY" EXPERIENCE. My car is a Toyota Verossa. -
Hi Guys, At the last Car Show at BMIC, I came a cross a stall that was exhibiting Injector cleaning. It was manned by a gentleman aged 50-60 years of age. They claimed to remove the injectors and did the cleaning and had their place of work some where in malabe/Thalangama/Athurugiriya/Battaramulla area. I did get a brochure but have lost it and now I need to contact them. If any one of you kind souls knows the contact details of the chaps I am referring to I'd be much obliged for this information.

Not to mention the fuel subsidies that Mihin gets which is pocketed out by the people eh... Now that’s a darn good thing.....This is what you call brain drain....Some people with brains that are in drains have stayed back..

Thanks Guys.. Well the car is at the agents and they wat to start off by replacing the following parts 1. Front (RH) Lower arm assy 2. ARM Ass Lower no2 3. Gromet Assy Steering. 4. Steering Rack Bush I dont know what the hell they are but if its gona fix the wobble I will replace it. And if it does not the I guess the guys at Toyota might wana replace more parts and I will have to agree to it and pay for it. Anyway Thanks guys for you feed back and advice Cheers

Well my problem is just as the topic says. My car has a steering wobble. The funny thing is it only comes at 80 kmph.. not at 10kmph not at 70 not even at 150kmph. It comes at 80 and as soon as I get out of 80 kmph the wobble is gone. The car is a rear wheel drive and is currently at Toyota trying again to figure what the problem MIGHT be. I have had the wheels balanced and aligned ...at several places...Nawala Junction.. Toyota. and at a place near Hunupitya cross road; nothing and no one fixed it. So guys any ideas or any one whos’' had the same problem please enlighten me. Cheers

Did you get a engine diagnostic done at Toyota. If you did not then getting one done may answer why it happens. But to take a shot in the dark ....It could be the cam sensor. Had a similar problem on my Suzuki where the engine stalls. Changed the cam sensor and that sorted the problem out....Hope you get it sorted out. Cheers mate.

Toyota said nothing about why they could do nothing, save that it was company policy not to do any work on modified systems. I was hoping they would at least do a proper computer diagnostic, at least to see if there was a problem that could have been diagnosed that way. But the report I got was about if my Oil needed to be changed and the condition of the shock absobers. A load of help that was. Any way I thank all those who replied with advice and if there are any others who can and are willing to help out with more advice and suggestions it will be much appriciated. Thanks and Cheers.

I got my Toyota Regus Van (EFI) converted to gas about a month ago. The conversion was done at a place in Dematagoda somewhere near where Toyota show room used to be. Bout a week after the conversion the vehicle developed a miss when it was running on gas. There were separate gas injectors connected to the manifold ( Manifold was drilled to accommodate the injectors) When we took it back we were told the spark plugs were bad and so we put in a new set of plugs. Now there is a miss even when driving on petrol. Took it several times to the place the conversion was done but no improvement. I took it to Toyota Lanka and they initially refused even to take the vehicle in as there policy was such that they did not accept vehicles that were not in their original condition. Any how got the vehicle in but they said that there is nothing that they can do. So here I am in deep trouble. Any ones help with advice or recommendations to where I can take my vehicle to get fixed will be greatly appreciated…………PLSSSSSSSSS HELPPPPPPPPPP. I Finally had the problem sorted out by the guys who did the Gas conversion. Sorry it took me soo long to upload that devolopment. Toyota sure could not diagnos the problem cause it was too simple for them. The problem was damaged plug wires. cheers Thanks and Cheers

The reasons given by you Don and agreed by the Shakster have become part and parcel of driving in Colombo. 1. Very hot day 2. Car was not moving very fast so atmospheric air flow could not have contributed to the cooling.3. Fan failure 4. AC working over time Point 1, 2 and 4 cannot be avoided while fan Failure; Item 3 can never be predicted (or can it). I was stuck yesterday for one hour at Warakapola on the way to Colombo. the line of vehicles was about 5kms long. My eyes were glued to the tem gauge. Any idea how our vehicles could survive this sorta mess apart from leaving it at home and riding a bullock cart. Cheers

Correct me if I am wrong shouldn’t the gears shift when maximum output is achieved at the right RPM. If the gears shift before wouldn’t it be a waste of something or the other. If the RPM is too high then it still would be a waste as the car would not be moving any faster. This is where I got the idea that when the power button is on the gears will wait tile the maximum useful RPM is reached before it changes. When the Power button is off the gears would shift faster at lower RPM there by not put any strain on the motor and conserve fuel....... Isuru what does the M button on the BMW M do ? Come onnn experts.....I know you guys are out there....give me your take on the matter........ If it seems like I am H/J thread I apologize and feel free to have the Mods delete this.

My cars (Toyota Verossa - RWD) got a power and snow button....Always thought the snow was to reduce slip and the power button when on delayed the gear shift...what do you guys think ?....Do you think the Power button is the same as the O/D ? Cheers

I'v got low profiles on 15' rims and all I can say they are vary uncomfortable on bad roads. You could feel any rut on the road and on our roads this can be a very hard ride.

Mice running amok is no joke gurl.....The buggers could do a lota damage to the wiring....I had to put a ball of chicken mesh in the air filter opening cause the blighters started getting in to the air filter compartment and snacking on the filter.... Cheers

Hi I don’t know much about the Aerio...But I did have a suzuki Baleno....Damn hardy car...pretty nippy considering the 1.3l motor and did pretty good on fuel....But the parts are pretty expensive….especially at the previous agents who still do suzuki maintenance. Thats as far as my experience with Suzukis' go. Cheers

Thanks dragster Well the car is ok....compared to the 1.3 baleno i used to drive but a shit load compared to the 4.2l V6 ford fairlane I used to drive.....lol The space...Power...the feel....was bloody marvellous....but of course it was about 10 years old and pretty heavy.. sooo could not have had a good 0-60 times.) Anyway all in all it does have enough power to enjoy the drive but it does feel a bit scary once you go over the 130km mark... feels like you could loose control easily....
