Yesterday I went tyre shop to get new alloys and tyre set to my alto. However one nut of front wheel refused to loosen and wheel stud broken when tries to loose nut using a long wench. After that ,installed new wheels and drived to a garage with only 3 wheel nuts to install new stud and when removing wheel, another nut also stucked and stud broken when removing wheel. Installed two studs and now everything is fine. I'm wondering what caused to wheel nut to stuck and how to prevent it happening again.

Hi all, Finally decided to get set of alloys and new set of tyres to my alto. Stock indian tyers done 32K km and very little amount of tread remaining. Original tyers are 145/80R12 and 12" 4B rims. Got quote of 24K for http://www.alloywheels.lk/index.php?option=com_jshopping&controller=product&task=view&category_id=8&product_id=33&Itemid=103 and 165/70R12 dunlop for 7.2K each. Had to increase tyre width because 145 tyre is too small for 5" width alloy wheels. Also there are chinese wheels available for around 17K and chinese tyre brand called federal for 5.75K each. Does additional cost of getting branded wheels and dunlops is worth or is it ok to stick to chinese things? Thanks, Miyuru

Finally got a cobra radar detector ! Sometimes it detects speed gun even before 1km . So I'm very happy about it. BTW can cop charge me for using a radar detector? because he can see it sticked on the windshield.

Problem with the speed limits in SL is there is a single limit for all type of vehicles except tractors and 3wheelers. But in real world 80km\h is not a high speed for a modern car while it is very high for a lorry or bus. AFIK most of fatal accidents caused by heavy vehicles and not by cars. Law makers are still in the 80s mind set where they consider 60km/h is a rocket speed ( thats way we have trams "hetata hete yanawa")

Check Engine Light means there is a problem with your EFI system, like sensor problem. For these kind of issues, best place is agents because they have scan tools that can connect to OBD port of car to diagnose the problem.

Those fuel savers are nothing other than jimmiks. IF it is possible to save fuel by such a simple technologies, why automotive makers spent billions of dollar to do research about fuel efficient vehicles. Same goes for water powered cars. Even O/L pass student can understand it.

If you properly maintain a normal battery it will last longer than maintenance free battery.

Last week I got a replacement for my faded driving license. Process was smooth. If you have old license, no need to get new type license (smart card). You can get a copy of old license at zero cost. Requirements: 2 passport size photographs with residency confirmed by Gramasewaka ( this is a must, if not signed by gramasewaka you will not able take new license ) Photocopy of National ID card ( both side ) and Natiaonal ID card Existing Driving License Steps: Go to RMV office, Werahera @ 8AM-8:30AM. No need to go very early. Tell to security person @gate, that came to get a replacement for faded driving license. Then he will direct you to a queue. Most of the time peoples came to update temporary license and who came to take replacement license will send to a single queue. You may need to wait in queue till 9AM. After office work started, queue will direct to relevant office. Your documents will taken and you will receive a slip that mentioning the time you need to come back to collect license ( time between 2PM-4PM). Be there @ mentioned time and collect your license. Simple as that. If you went to RMV office by your vehicle, you have to wait there until you got license back in evening. Slip given when handover old license is not a temporary license. So you can't drive with it.

Never do this. I suggest that, take your car to agents. They will able to fix EPS. -
Cars With Electronic Power Steering
Miyuru Daminda replied to rangerover's topic in General Automotive
Now almost every car comes with EPS because it can give variable level of assist ( higher assist in low speed and low assist in high speed ), less maintenance, less parts ( only a electric motor ) , energy efficient than hydraulic PS and consider as safer than hydraulic PS. Problem with JDM Corolla like vehicles is, they are designed for Japanese like roads. So these cars can't keep up with our roads and EPS, suspension system wear and tear happens faster. Since our "maka baas" technicians doesn't know how to properly repair EPS, they suggest to replace it with hydraulic PS. So most people thinks EPS is bad, but technically EPS is far more superior than hydraulic PS. ( like cable base throttle control vs. drive by wire technology )
