  1. Wow... now this is a treat to my eyes... propz for keeping this car in good shape
  2. Hope they are serious about this and won't just be just another a teaser...
  3. Like the colour. End result should be really nice.
  4. Those red colisprings blending with the white car body... reminds me of pretty nasty things... like a some nice babe in a red thong.
  5. That happens Komi. Just ignore them... there are certain traits in certain people which are not worth spending our time on... Besides, you got the car, spend time with her, man...
  6. Ahh.... this is more like it.
  7. Guess they envy you Komi. It means the car is a real eye catcher (since they only saw the photos). Good thing they did not see in real life... or they would've gone crazy with envy One more thing, Komi. The background of those photos cannot be justified at all... She deserves better surroundings in the photo-shoots man
  8. Whatever the car is... the driver seems to have no valid license or training. Parked in front of a Gate blocking it like that! Many a times I've heard experienced drivers point at cars parked blocking a road or a gate and laugh at the driver "parana TV license eken da koheda elawanne".
  9. Congratulations to Komisiripala! She is a beatuy! attention to details was Impeccable. A rare quality which I respect the most! Read the whole thread... I was glued to the screen. Above all, getting somthing like this done properly with the garages we have here is one Herculean task I guess! So mad propz for Komi!
  10. Nissan cdj, with more power from the engine, you will need better breaks to stop the vehicle. You might have to upgrade the breake system too. Ask yourself is it worth doing the mod. Were you unhappy with the performance of the old engine? if not why change?
  11. Ouch... he would burn fuel in accelarating... fuel economy goes down the drain...
  12. Driving at 30kmph to save fuel? Wonder why they bought a car in the first place. It would be much more economical to take the bus I guess... and the bus would be faster too.
  13. Don, Dhanu, Sylvi, Watchman, terrabytetango many thanks for the replies and suggestions. Please keep them coming. When my dad lost his temper, he had gunned the vehicle in full throttle in reverse. What he told me was that he felt a kind of grinding (with a grinding sound) and the reverse had worked. According to him after that the problem has gone away . But I think its temporary. I convinced him to take the vehicle to the mechanics. Following your suggestions, I asked the mechanic to check the breaks before touching the drive-train. There were no obvious problems with the breaks, but the mechanic said that he had come across a similar problem with another cab; and the culprit was the rear differential . Could it be? I'm kind of glad if it s not the gearbox, with the hope that the diff is a less of trouble than the gearbox... or is it...
  14. Thanks for reading my post. We got a Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab which runs with a 4D56 non turbo engine, and a manual transmission gearbox. The odometer says its done 500 000+ kms, but I think in reality its done a lot more, since we bought it second hand. It has been the workhorse of our family for years. The problem we experienced is when the reverse gear is engaged, and the clutch is released, the vehicle suddenly stops as if we press the break very hard. It does not stop the engine, but the vehicle abruptly seize to move as if we are pressing the break paddle hard. When I tried it myself what I felt is that something gets stuck in the gearbox, clogging up everything. I did not dare to fully release the clutch because I was afraid it might ruin the whole gearbox. The gear leaver position does not change, and pressing or pulling on the gear leaver had no effect. We replaced the clutch and pressure plate, and replaced the gear-oil about 3000km ago. We started to experience the problem last week and its been happening more and more often by the day. Does this mean that we'd have to go for a new gearbox? or is this repairable? Gee... that's one weird explanation of the problem. But I guess its as weird as the problem itself...

  16. Hi Bandara, I've asked from Thilanga, and he said he was planning to swap his audio system at P*tco Lan*a. But had not got it done. He has changed his mind and decided on an aftermarket model from elsewhere.
  17. I guess I can run without the turbo. But that means I have to get rid of the inter-cooler, which in turn means a whole load of changes in the air intake hoses. Plus a huge loss of pulling power... I want the turbo....

    Jeep Modifications

Sorry, but I can't recommend any tinker baas as all of them are non-reliable fellas (at least the bunch I've met). It is better if you could hire a baas for the job, and ask him to come to your place and do the work. Always remember not to pay him in advance, or you will have to hire a few private-eyes to catch the bugger! I think it is not a stupid idea to to have disc brakes rather than drum brakes. Especially, if you have all 4 drum brakes. It will definitely improve brake performance. But you should always evaluate what you are paying for. In the case of brakes; what you are trying to stop. If you have replaced the stock engine with a larger CC, more powerful engine, it makes the break upgrade all more sensible. But if you use the stock engine I guess the stock break system should be able to handle the stopping without much problem.
  19. Thanks MiniAce. I guess you are right. I should be patient and run as is while looking for an affordable replacement.
  20. Yes, the gadget which increases the tuning range will not be very successful. besides it will be a real pain to tune to a known frequency cross referencing a chart. I'll ask around and let you know. I guess Thilanga knows a place which you can exchange the existing sound system.
  21. Thanks Don. I've checked the possibility for a repair kit. The only problem is a to find a suitable person to install it. I've seen a Place at Mahara called Tur*oCi*y, but I'm not sure how good they are. When I inquired they were quoting hefty prices even for a repair kit installation (around 25K for labor alone ), on the other hand they provide 6 months warranty for the job.
  22. Thanks MiniAce, come to think of it you could be right I'm afraid. Because when I checked a few schematics and photos I'm not sure whether doing this would improve anything. The last thing I want is engine trouble (got a loads of trouble at home and office... ).
  23. AFAIK, Daihatsu Rocky is a mini SUV that was manufactured from 1987 ~ 1998. And there were two generations: 1987-1992, and 1992-1998. I guess Terios is the successor of this model. Rocky Comes 2 door soft/hard top varieties. Though I've only seen hardtops in SL. All models came with 1.6L engines. Not sure about the market value though. I remember seeing a Diesel converted one for 14 lakhs or so... sometime ago.
  24. May I ask why?
  25. If you are not going for a different audio system due to cosmetic issues (you like to keep your original factory fitted unit), then I suggest you could always look for same unit with international band receiver. You probably could exchange your old unit with the vendors as well.
