Performance of Daihatsu Mira hill roads
kush replied to Jayanga's question in Car Buying Information
Any 660cc Mira or other will struggle in any incline, even 1000 cc, or 1300cc if it has low power. If you want to carry loads and have pulling power to accelerate/ over take look elsewhere. -
There is no special break in oil as far as i know. Years back they use to change the oil in 1000 km or so, not anymore. 1st oil change usually is 5-6k km or 6 months, your service indicator must be indicating this. You still have 86 days your engine is not going to soon after. Stop worrying to much and enjoy the car. If your vendor is offering the cost get it done as there is no harm, as the offer will not be there in 86 days when you really have to do the service.

Use the 4WD as a bargaining point, you will have a better vehicle with good traction and handling during your use. If you are concern about fuel economy go bit easy on the throttle which will compensate. Be mindful you will have the same issue at the time of resale. In upcountry 4WD vans are preferred due to superior traction. Try getting a 2WD van on a Nuwara Eliya Estate road you will know. So much so when NE guys go to Kandy to buy vans if the seller realize the guy is from NE they jack up 4WD prices (car sale baiya logic).

Agreed but Q2 in SL are mostly 1.0L with only 116 bhp, (190 kmph., 0-60, 10.7s) S-tronic DSG is not the best shift in SL traffic, may have issues with premature ware. CHR and CRV has CVT although not the best shift for fun, is better suited to SL conditions. CHR you get a additional cylinder, 200cc which makes the engine much smoother, however with similar power (114 bhp), coupled to a CVT it will not feel as fast as the Audi as you will not feel gears changing, but has a very quite drive train. Might have to check the back seat and the ridicules rear door handle with makes it impossible for small kids to operate. Rear seat is not enough for adults, kids will be claustrophobic due to the shape of the rear glasses and the dark interior. I had a older model CRV (2013) which the family adored due to the sheer amount of room inside. Huge boot, rear bench with no floor hump. New one is even roomier with option of 7 seats with last two suited only for children. Of cause you will forgo the huge boot capacity if all 7 seats are in use. I have no experience in the new 1.5L, CVT so recommend a good test drive.(hire one for a day do the 100 km and see whether you like it)

CRV, others are from class below

Was it with the agent, top up or a full change just for my understanding and precautions

Not by only changing the fuel pump, unless you change the ECU mapping and may be the injectors. You may be able to get more fuel in to the system if the pressure is increased but doubt there will be a significant improvement. Fuel mixture will be too rich and will have other issues plus reduction in economy. If you need more power upgrade to a CS3 .

You will not get the same kmpl as the diesels you were considering. Prado is not as comfortable due to the ladder frame chassis, but great if you are in to off road, wild trails etc. Prestige factor will be more if it is a want If you don't do much running will be a better option

I'm still trying to figure out what all this fuss is about. A car in not going to die if coolant brands get mixed up or even get mixed with with water as it is any way water mixed with anti freeze and anti rust chemicals added. Do not recommend tap water though as it contains chlorine. I'm sure more damage is done to our vehicles due to inferior fuel, dusty and humid climate.

As long as cops do not notice and you don't fall into trouble you will be alright. I have driven Habanthota to Colombo with no registration, few days with prints like yours Still do not have the revenue license as it took good few days to get the emission, could not get it online initially but worked after a week or so when i was about to go and get it from Divisional Secretariat. All depends on your luck, this is SL By the way your plates should be ready overnight

I took my former CRV to Maradana, newer had any issues

With synthetic you could go 1 year 10,000 km while with mineral or semi-synthetic it is recommended that you go by 6 month 5,000 km. When you factor the cost of the filter there is no significant saving by using non-synthetic oils I do agree with HaeyIM, synthetic gives better kmpl and also reduces startup friction you will immediately feel this if you switch from mineral to syntactic.

There are good Korean brands that are even fitted to Euro performance cars Do not expect to save on the price, they are more expensive than Thailand/ Indonesian Euro/ Jap brands Brand like GT is generally ok for day to day use

Any idea whether you could stop the unit requesting for Navigation setup (Quick setup) every time it boots (car starts) It request for a address, does not work even if i put current location as the address. May be this data got erased as the SD came separately after few weeks. I have the SD card and access the menus, unfortunately cant change the language (language option not available in the menu) Unit Fujitsu Ten (Toyota) NSZT - Y66T

Have you checked the accuracy of the reading. Generally they are 5-10% optimistic. My good old CRV was very accurate when compared with brim to brim figures, hardly any difference Kia Picanto 10% off

Considering the age it most probably the battery. No harm in getting the system checked. If your current battery is Excide yu should be able to call their mobile service free.

My BIL has a Swift RSt which has the 1.0L turbo runs happily on 92 gives economy around 12-14 kmpl (not running on crawling traffic)
-
Those who are having 1.8 don't want to sell as there are not much of a choice for a replacement/ upgrade

Some companies pay 100% for cars 2-3 years from the year of manufacture. In the event of a total loss they will pay the full amount if you have insured for the correct value. Always recommended to be backed by a official valuation

Better to have a separate sensor fitted to avoid no signal, even if you do a parallel connection it will drop the sensor voltage and will have issues.
-
As for the Vitara only few vehicles around and as the vehicle is new do not expect to find that may information on issues. Given the past records of the marque and most of the drive train is shared with others in the family we can reasonably assume the vehicle to be reliable. I've heard few negatives on MG, especially on fuel economy

What are the options missing, do you really need them or will be using them eg: sunroof Some of them can be retro fitted later when you have funds eg: better audio, wheels, even body kits
-
Some times the water pump is behind the fan driven by the same belt, check. You may have to fix a thermostat switch to the radiator usual place to control the fan.

Who says that the Allion 1.8L has less market value than the 1.5L, may be your next door who is using a Maruti or your friendly car sales guy by the side of the road in Nugegoda. Most likely a 1.8L will be used by someone who knows a thing or two about cars and likely to be maintained better.
