I too had a look at the vehicle recently, did not like the interior quality. not up to the usual Lancer/ Outlander quality. May be more on line with Perodua

Cannot agree more, i don't be believe in using a SUV / Premium Car burning fuel @ 5 kmpl in traffic which hardly exceed 10 kmph In the Wagon R 50 kmph feels like 100, besides it is quite peppy up to around 50 kmph

Not entirely true it depends on the purpose. It is very practical city vehicle and makes a good 2nd car. It is not a super mini but can be driven spiritedly at city speeds once you master the limitations.

It could have been the sheer speed of the collision. Safety measures are only effective up to certain speeds only One cannot defy laws of physics

Issue is not the car but the truck to which it ran in to I assume If this worked damage might have been less, it seems that the car went under the truck causing excessive damage in the windscreen area. Crumple zone would not have been effective. In developed countries there are safety standards on truck safety bars which is suppose to avoid any vehicle going under at a reasonable speed. SL is full of Indian S**t which does not give crap on road safety to ones on board and other vehicles.

We have a Wagon R and a Picanto which are used as daily drives. Very practice in the City, enough room for the kids and their stuff. Comfort and safety does not apply to a certain extent as the commute is 15 km at a time in crawling traffic. Actually drive is less stress full as you're not worried about the little scrape or the ding from the odd tuk tuk or the bike. Parking no problem as there is good turning circle and the overall length which is only few inches longer than a large SUV.

Fully synthetic should be good for 1 year 15,000 km this is what is recommended by premium Euros (Merc, BMW, Porsche agents) Just go through what is classified as harsh conditions in the manual it doesn't really apply in Sri Lankan context. Unless you do only couple of km in Colombo heavy traffic few times a day or run a cab service in Colombo.

Toyota vitz 2008 1.0 or Kia picanto 2016 full option
kush replied to jalebi's question in Car Buying Information
I own a Picanto 2017 which had done over 30k during last 18 months or so. My BIL had a 2008 Vitz he had for over 8 years over 160k which had few parts replaced including shocks, engine mounts. With high mileage any car Jap or Korean will have increased maintenance. I have not seen major differences in the built quality between the two cars, Korean cars have improved over the years. Both are full of hard plastics and basic. Vitz has more room inside and Kia seats are more supportive and comfortable Kia is better to drive with 4 speed torque converter box against CVT of the Vitz Vitz has marginally better fuel economy You will be able to find a Kia with full service history maintained by agents where as finding such a Vitz may be virtually impossible.- 27 replies

If you cant stretch your budget by a bit Picanto 2017 will be a better bet New Model (current one in the showroom) which has better features and design and comes with 5 year 100k warrenty I bet it will be more reliable and will most probably pay back in terms of repair cost of a hacked Vitz even if you factor of probable higher depreciation.- 27 replies

15K for each cover and 4 studs, did not notice any difference in noise levels. Got it mainly for looks as the engine bay looks as if something is missing without it

Turbo engines will have bigger radiators, oil pumps, coolers to take care of the high temperatures generated
-
Invest in an engine cover it will improve the looks and protect the wiring and ignition coils from elements, for some strange reason this is an optional extra. I got them down from the agents for around Rs. 15K in 2008 (cover and 4 mounting studs) It is a 5 minute DIY once you have the parts

It is based on a algorithm based on engine running time, age (time since last change), number of cold starts, ambient temperature, average speed etc. Hence the difference in oil life time due to difference in climate and driving conditions

Keep the money in the bank and get a good rental when you visit, it will be cheaper than your maintenance and insurance.

CRV, Vitara, may be a RAV 4 if you are lucky

This happens if you keep the a/c temp too low, car will run the engine to keep the a/c compressor running Low battery can be a cause as well, will disable the system to conserve the battery. Personally i find this feature annoying as you can feel the car stop and start every few meters when you are in bumper to bumper traffic. Little worried over the fact that the wear and tare also might be high due to frequent stop starts. System will be ideal in situations were you drive for substantial distance may be from one intersection to another and keep the car idling for a minute or so, and not in case where you move few meters every few seconds.

Prado 2.7 L is seriously under powered having only 164 bhp/ 181 lb/ft lugging over 2300 kg, however on the road it gives a sensation on going fast due to its ladder chassis and high center of gravity. New CRV on the other hand has 190 bhp / 179 lb/ft with only 1600 kg to carry around even if you opt for AWD, However AWD in CRV will be useless in SL as it is not meant to off road but to support traction in slippery conditions such as snow. Prado is a proper off road will handle Yala, Colombo rain floods etc with no issues.
