Worst case scenario could be removal of ABS indicator to hide an ABS fault. Cause if the ABS is faulty the light won’t go off.

I remember sometimes back one of my friends had a certificate from the government analyst to state his vehicle was genuine. Apparently when the vehicle was with the previous owner it was impounded by the police on suspicion and he had to undergo lot of trouble the get things sorted. If you have any suspicions about the vehicle don’t touch.

As i remember there were plenty of reviews on the Lancer in 2007 from USA,Canada, Australia, not the same engine but other features were similar

Saw this yesterday, look stunning even on light blue

Unfortunately some of us have kids, since these cars are supposed to be used by families asking to little bit of hardwearing materials in the interior is not too much to ask. Besides if Toyota could get them right I don’t think why Mitsubishi have an issue. They did have better quality plastics in the former CS series.
-
Toyota interior plastics are better, dashboard top, door inserts tops are padded whereas in the lancer they are hard and prone to scratches.

My former 2007 (ZC71S) 1250cc (K12B) CVT used to do 10 kmpl Colombo and around 12-14 outstation. There is huge quality difrence and ofcause the price between the two. K12B is free reviving gem of an engine and the CVT gear box did not do justice to it. If you manage to find a manual it will be nice little drivers car. -
You need to be bit more specific Age (Just couple of years or older ect) Size (Small/ mid / large) I would say Land Cruiser 80 or 100 series

Lancer Or Axio? Update: Bought A Lancer! (Aka The B.r.a.t.t. Thread)
kush replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
May be if you put it on a dyno, on real life I've never noticed any diffrence. However in the manual cars i was told that sometimes knocking is felt if you are lazy to downshift.- 800 replies

Lancer Or Axio? Update: Bought A Lancer! (Aka The B.r.a.t.t. Thread)

When opening the LC be specific about the car with reference to your Performa invoice, usually banks do this. If you are opening the LC direct to Japan (not local LC) be specific about the LC charges, if not required as per Performa pass the overseas bank charges to the beneficiary this will be around Rs. 30-50K. U**Mo has a reputation for not sticking to dates given and after opening the LC make sure that you get a confirmation from them that the order is placed. And as for the fuel requirement for the 2007 EX with the 1.5 L engine 90 was good enough although recommended was 95 (According to the user manual 90 was ok if 95 was not available) On my 3 year ownership of the vehicle i switched to 90 when the price difference was widened and did not experience any loss of power, knocking or fuel economy. Now that you have 92 I guess that would do cause most of the engines require 91 and higher.- 800 replies

Go for the GLS if you can afford the Rs. 400,000/- you will never be able to retro fit them at that cost. Are you sure about the Audio being touch screen (in 2007 the diffrence was only pair of tweeters and the 6 CD changer insted of single CD) Dont go by the New Zealand spec check line by line on the U**Mo specs. Get the full specs on your performa invoice, in the past there have been instances where the delivered car specs diffreing (2007 Monerto Sport) Do all the dealings with U**Mo on writing you might need them if you have issues later, they are also known to not keeping to time lines promised so make regular inquires and get updates. Good Luck- 800 replies

Viscosity Viscosity (a fluid's resistance to flow) is rated at 0° F (represented by the number preceding the "W" [for Winter]) and at 212° F (represented by the second number in the viscosity designation). So 10W-30 oil has less viscosity when cold and hot than does 20W-50. Motor oil thins as it heats and thickens as it cools. So, with the right additives to help it resist thinning too much, an oil can be rated for one viscosity when cold, another when hot. The more resistant it is to thinning, the higher the second number (10W-40 versus 10W-30, for example) and that's good. Within reason, thicker oil generally seals better and maintains a better film of lubrication between moving parts. At the low-temperature end, oil has to be resistant to thickening so that it flows more easily to all the moving parts in your engine. Also, if the oil is too thick the engine requires more energy to turn the crankshaft, which is partly submerged in a bath of oil. Excessive thickness can make it harder to start the engine, which reduces fuel economy. A 5W oil is typically what's recommended for winter use. However, synthetic oils can be formulated to flow even more easily when cold, so they are able to pass tests that meet the 0W rating. Once the engine is running, the oil heats up. The second number in the viscosity rating--the "40" in 10W-40, for example--tells you that the oil will stay thicker at high temperatures than one with a lower second number--the "30" in 10W-30, for example. What's really important is that you use the oil viscosity your car's owner's manual recommends.

Lancer Or Axio? Update: Bought A Lancer! (Aka The B.r.a.t.t. Thread)
kush replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
Yes Don I agree with you getting the parts down by yourself or through someone is definitely cost effective. But at the same time cars like the EX are bought as daily runners and most of the time that is the only car so even few days off the road is an utter inconvenience to the owner. This is why I guess the Toyotas are popular- 800 replies

Lancer Or Axio? Update: Bought A Lancer! (Aka The B.r.a.t.t. Thread)
kush replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
Certain items are available only with the agent and they rip you off like hell. For instance my former EX radiator fan 2nd speed gave in and the car was over heating fortunately it was under warranty and was repaired FOC. However in the bill cost of the item was indicated at Rs. 18,000/-. Same issue came up in my uncles car which was unfortunately over the warranty period and guess what they quote Rs. 45,000/- Fortunately a “good bass” was able to dismantle the thing and replace the worn out brushes which solved the problem at fraction of the cost. Issue with Mitsubishis are that there are not many reliable supplies unlike for Toyota and Nissan which unfortunately affect the resale values due to high maintenance and repair costs.- 800 replies

Lancer Or Axio? Update: Bought A Lancer! (Aka The B.r.a.t.t. Thread)
kush replied to Bracket's question in Car Buying Information
We had 3 Lancer EX, two Corolla 141, two Yaris and two Terios in our family all imported brand new in 2007-2008 on permits. They were all maintained by the agents during warranty and subsequently as per manufactures recommendation by reputed service stations. Here are my observations Lancers – All of them had warranty issues on ABS Sensors Cooling (Radiator) fans Carbon deposits in throttle body Electrical issues like fog lights switching on only when they want Toyota 141, Yaris, Terios not a single issue other than batteries, fan belts after about 5 years of use I have seen number of Lancer EX vehicles being attended at U**Mo with very low milage and even the agents admit that the EX is not as reliable as the previous (CS) from which I upgraded to EX. I had a time getting rid of my EX it being in the right colour (Black) which was in mint condition at the time of sale.At the time of sale in 2010 we could have got more for my mom’s 141 which in fact was brought for less. Sourcing body parts (used) would be a nightmare in case of an accident, however the agents will have brand new parts. Having said all that EX had the best handling, looks and was the head turner out of the lot. If you want good looking drivers car EX will be the car for you but if you are concern about the reliability and resale look else were.- 800 replies

-RELIABILITY Probably Toyota -Fuel Economy Toyota -Spare Parts Availability Toyota -Safety And comfort Toyota has more air bags -Handling Lancer -Looks Lancer - Resale value Toyota 161 is 1.3L if you need to compare this with the 1.5L Lancer is a old model which most probably will be replaced soon where as the 161 will be the current model (Shape) when you want to sell in 5 years time. I would also look at the new Mazda 3 which i think is within your budget- 800 replies

Allion is a Japan only model I don’t think you will find a English version.
-
I dont think CRV ever had a 3rd row option
-
Hope you are buying this from an individual. Cos some CS1/3 were on hire for companies and would have clocked very high mileage. If it is a GLX price seems to be ok, GL with lesser options will be 2-3 hundred thousand less. Try to negotiate the price these cars are very difficult to sell

Engine specs vary with the market depending on the performance / economy/ fuel requirement of the specific country for instance the Montero/ Pajero/ Shogun 4M41 will have 165 bhp (SL) / 190 bhp (JDM) / 197 bhp (UK Spec) Variation comes mostly from the injection and turbo specs. Fuel in SL contains very high amount Sulphur and impurities (even super diesel) so the high performing version could give trouble with age. Basic Montero with venerable 4D56 is offered locally with manual transmission if one does not mind the snail pace acceleration.
