  1. Thank you guys for the wishes!
  2. Hi Darin Sorry for the late wishes (better late than never ).... and all the best for a great racing year ahead of you...
  3. All the best Grand Civic!
  4. Once again thank you all for the wishes
  5. Thank you all for the kind wishes
  6. Tarmac have to wait till August (for SLARDAR Katu)
  7. Thank you all for the wishes….. This was my first real outing in the X with almost 80% of the car in its final race level. I have to take back all what I said about the X earlier (meaning that the IX was way faster) coz now I realize definitely it is not so now. It was a case that not much people around the world knew how to set the car. We are still learning about the car and come next 5-6 months, the X would be at its peak and ready compete in full force

    Car Wheel Nuts

Hi Devinda You have mentioned my mobile number No issues….anyways Motor World number is (011) 777 5555 or (077) 77 55 777 Cheers!
  9. Hey Fuzzo...belated B'day wishes machan Cheers!
  10. Thanks Velocity I think we could see some close racing during the next season (2009) and hope SLARDAR would revive the Championship….nothing puts more pressure on the drivers than Super Car a C’ship….
  11. I think you were more confident than I was…. Thanks anyways… Cheers!
  12. Thanks Pil… In standard trim the IX is way faster…..just only on the straight line ….but in handling the X is way superior again in standard trim due to the advanced electronics the X has got (needless to say till now I don’t know why the car stalled in race 1 warm up lap and I think it was to do with the electronics) and with a little bit of tweaking in the software it became a totally different beast… I just got the software sorted last Friday and with the bad weather on Sat at Katu we got no practice laps or qualifying…. So I went in to the race 2 without ever driving the X at full throttle on 4th & 5th gears after software change (as I tested the car at Pannala) and it just took me by surprise during the 1st 2 laps of the race…. Initially I was extremely disappointed with the car in standard spec, but now it has taken a U turn and now waiting for Motec to release its ECU for the X which should be some time Jan/Feb 2009. That would be the icing on the cake
  13. Thank you for the all the wishes after the race My view towards the EVO X changed after the Katu race and I am finally confident that it is a car that could be faster than the EVO IX …… it is just that only a very few in the world knows how to get around the software side of it…. I strongly believe that within a matter of 6 months we should be looking at EVO Xs around the world that could pass the EVO IX in terms of performance… . However the downside of it was that my car weighed 1,470kgs after the race with ¼ tank of fuel where it is 270kgs over weight for the SL-GT class which in comparison to an EVO III will weigh 1,100kgs and running with added 100kgs….newer the models…heavier it is… Having said that in the first race during the warm-up lap the car just stalled for reasons I will never know as there was nothing that we could find wrong and it started just after the first race was completed. I also have to congratulate Janaka Dias for a brilliant performance and for winning at Katu in a Subaru after a lapse of 8 years as the last time a Subaru won at Katu was when Pradip Jayawardene drove his Black WRX. I wish that if I did not stop the car in front of the pits and got out of it (thinking I had a flat tyre and which wasn’t the case) during the second race, I could have closed the gap between the STi IX… I think we are in to see some STi Vs. EVO battles in the future….
  14. Tickets are completely handled by SLAF and SLARDAR office doesn’t have them…..so it will only be at the gate……
  15. Thanks, but I am not sure if I would make it to the start line coz the X has been a nightmare in terms of the software side. As of now it is wayyyy slower to the IX (I know this for sure coz I have both models in hand) and I think you also would have seen the link that Charith posted yesterday on a different thread….in case you didn’t see it….. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/H2H-Ep1...-EVO_173593.htm As of now I am still struggling to get the 180 km/ph cut off removed (which comes on all the JDM versions) without which I will be at least 60 km/ph off the speed of the top runners on the main straights….the way is it off the 8 lap race somewhere on the 6th or 7th lap I will start to see the race leader in my rear view mirror….and I don’t want to run knowing that I cant even give a decent fight for a podium…. However I am still working very hard to get software part resolved and if I succeed I will be at the start line…..trying for a podium
  16. Only at the gate.
  17. As of now, Katu is a GO!!!!
  18. This event is cancelled...
  19. Yes, Katu is confirmed by SLARDAR on August 31st and that would be the only Katu for this year.
  20. Thank you for all the comments Velocity Wheels are ENKEI light weight racing. I am sure you know better than me about racing wheels. Appreciate your comments on the mat black part but I felt that after 2 or 3 gravel events the mat black will have a rather bad look with the paint coming off as a result of all the stones hitting that area (as the original plastic covers are removed) We will see at least one Katu this year and do not have high hopes of the X. All that glitter is not Gold Dilesh, it will back on Tuesday and Devinda the design of the car you have posted is about 7 years old (it’s an EVO VII) and the Advan logo is now different (compare it with the X and you will see) Cheers!
  21. I was planning to run Pelwatte rally on May 11th and it got postponed. Then was looking forward to Kukuleganga rally on June 08th and that too got postponed Now I really don’t know when and where would be the next event, but for sure I will compete as long as it is not a hill climb which I am terrible at and never could get it right
  22. Some additions + corrections for the thread EVO IV (corrections and additions to the thread) ----------- The first ever EVO to SL was imported by Nishan in 1997 and it was an EVO IV GSR currently with “Drake” of AL forums I also had an EVO IV RS came to SL about 10 days after Nishan’s EVO IV GSR. His was a brand new and mine was a re-con at that time. This EVO IV RS is now with Reyaz Farook. EVO V (additions to the thread) --------- There is a Black GSR raced at Fox Hill this year in addition to the list above. EVO VI (corrections and additions to the thread) ----------- Dan’s earlier car is a VI GSR and not a V. It is with Raja P. (Pasindu’s father) at the moment. EVO VII (additions to the thread) ------------ Aravinda P. has a RS which he is racing currently My earlier RS is with Reyaz Farook which he is racing currently There is another GSR (Black) raced at Radella this year EVO IX (corrections and additions to the thread) ---------- Mine is a GT originally (Not a RS) and now using it on the road (painted in Black) There is another RS of Reyaz Farook yet to be raced (may be this year) To my knowledge there aren’t any EVOs totaled. All of them were restored and currently in running condition.
  23. A response in today’s ISLAND paper http://www.island.lk/2008/05/08/opinion3.html
  24. Thank you Veocity Yo KaluZ, good one….we should go for a drive in the kitted “Mazda 3” when you around next time and for you Shaks I shall make you stay in the car hanging on to the roll cage and to do just 2 laps at Katu, so to make sure the Brembos are working and see your how you would feel afterwards
  25. Thank you for the wishes from all you guys. Madmax, I think you are referring from the IV to the X and not VI to X coz I never raced a VI. The difference cannot be just said in few words….it so much in terms of technology. On a different note I will get the rare chance of racing a VI during the season as the IX is been made standard for road use. This time at Fox Hill I will take a back seat with one of the oldest machines on the grid and I really like to be in that seat as I have never been there before in my career. Moreover the VI has been a very successful edition and I look forward to race in it. Overdrive, the ignition panel is NOT standard. The RS comes just with the basics….talk about driving it around without a/c Devinda, at least now I hope you know where the EVO X turbo is located Andrew, by the time you get here, the car will be totally different with no more interior but the bare shell ready to race
