  1. I see what you did there
  2. The rear is Disco 2 as well. Contrary to popular belief, the Disco 1 and Disco 2 have nothing in common panel wise, so a front end face lift (especially to a 2nd gen Disco 2 front end which this one has) would be impossible without some surgery. Also, the entire rear end is Disco 2 specific from what I can see. Hard to replicate that without major surgery as well.
  3. Your A/C idle is set at it's lowest. The power steering pump causes the engine idle to go lower when it is in use, which in this case is below the minimum operational threshold of the compressor, which is why it cuts out when the wheels are turned (power steering is circuit is pressurized) and cuts in when they're straight (power steering circuit at nominal pressure). Adjust the A/C idle to a higher RPM. It's also prudent to have the A/C belt examined as well. The actual reason for for the A/C cutting in and out is not RPM based, but pressure based; the compressor will cut out if pressure is lower than the preset amount, this is to prevent the compressor from running without lube. Under normal conditions this would be because the system needs to be repressurized, but in your case the idle speed causes the pressure to drop down far enough to trip the compressor cut out.
  4. The sad thing is that there are some VERY nice JDM radios to be had locally, for rather cheap prices because many don't realize how good they are and get rid of them since they can't listen to those stations which make a habit of destroying the vernacular along with the english language on a daily basis.
  5. Post the instructions here if you wish, but don't post your services. DIY means it Do It Yourself, not I WIll Do It For You (For A Reasonable Fee).
  6. Do the dash lights dim or go out when you try to start? You battery might be fine, but have you checked for build up of residue at the terminals?
  7. There is a catch. It's a Disco 2 body on a Disco 1 chassis, or it's a Disco 2 with dodgy registration. In any case, Disco 2s weren't around that early into 65- series. Who knows what other frankensteining has taken place.
  8. The Harrier SXU10 is front wheel drive, so no off road ability there, unless you mean the SXU15, but it's still a 4WD Camry underneath. I would say the X-Trail is the best for off roading. It has the best departure and approach angles, and pretty good ground clearance. I've never been off road in a RAV4, so can't comment on it. If you look underneath a new Tucson, you'll see that the designers never really meant for it to go off road, it is after all based on a car as well.
  9. Disco 2 with an early 65- number? Unpossible!

Interesting thread on that. How come the sides are from Disco 1 but the front and back are from Disco 2? :D

Probably a Frankenstein face lift Landy style. Might even be a bolf off bolt on job.

I didn't see the sides. Yep Crosswind you right its indeed a Disco1 from the sides. Disco2 lights can be fitted to the Disco1 with a little bit of modifications (Grille and lower metal strip), rear will be a bit difficult because the Disco1 lights are smaller and lower.

But a job well done to whoever has done it.

  10. I used to be a Java developer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  11. They all share the same base and thread I think, so it shouldn't be an issue.
  12. The Accent (and Kia Rio) is one of the best kept secrets in the market today. You cant find a better bang for buck, and as far as resale value goes, the first owner has already borne the loss through depreciation.
  13. Who ever says that they can't discern the difference between FLAC and 320kpbs should really have their ears checked.

i know there are 7. set ups but havent heard of any 7.1 file. thats why i have been sticking to 5.1 speakers with 7.1 sound card

  14. I completely forgot to mention the Suzuki Liyana/Aerio. My former boss drives a 1.6 liter S'pore example, and it is fkn brilliant. We lugged around 3 computers and their monitors + 5 people and their luggage all the way to Polgasowita once in relatively good comfort. The car has taken quite a beating and has broken down 3 times during my time here, including a broken shock mount, mainly due to negligence, and even then it was able to limp all the way home. Fuel consumption is slightly higher though.
  15. If the base and the thread are intact you should be able to fit a new one.
  16. Yup, always happened "just now". I don't like doing it, but the insurance appraisers know of it and they won't (usually) create an issue about the legitimacy of your claim. I had to do it once, but it was just a fender bender. Also, when you call SLIC immediately after the accident, they will send over an appraiser and you can avoid getting the police involved. There was a time when I had 3 accidents within the span of 4 months, and I didn't have to file a police report at any time.
  17. The race left a bitter taste in my mouth. I mean the conditions were perfect. I thought Alonso was sandbagging like he did in the beginning of the season when he claimed the car was not up to par. As much as I am a team McLaren groupie, Alonso deserved to win this race and own Seb's pasty white posterior.
  18. I'm rooting for Alonso as well. That man took a dog turd and turned it into a pink diamond.
  19. What strikes me as odd is why you're worried about these prices. I think it's because you rear ended someone and your insurance won't cover your car and the other car or you're the archtypical thel hingana driving his Allion 260 on limited liability insurance. If you were fully covered, all you need to do is take the quote to your insurance carrier and they'll let you know what is covered and what is not. Of course it maybe that you're attempting to cheat your insurance, in which case you're the worst of the worst, and hingana is too polite a title. And to conclude, if you treat people face to face the way you do on this forum, its no wonder you're constantly ripped off.
  20. What happens when three cars enter a T junction and one of them doesnt give way? If you were at the Tickell Rd/Cotta Rd junc an hour ago you would've seen.

terry, times like this, you have to take your camera/phone out and take a snapp :(

Sounds like this could have been avoided if the Belta gave way to the 121. Most drivers still don't know that they should give way to vehicles approaching from the right.

@schiffer i know, but it had just happened and there was a throng of people in the vicinity, i thought it best to just give it a once over and bugger off.

  21. I'm more concerened with the fact that LCD looks way out of place. I'm pretty sure it's partially blocking the center A/C vents. Really looks like an after thought, and I have a feeling a few people will try to pick it up; it looks like a a really large tablet docked in its dashboard receptacle.
  22. Ducati Monster 400 for me.
  23. Sylvi, my dad has done the same for our garden lights, and we use solar panels to recharge the batteries which power them. As you said, they are very effective. However they are a huge distraction (and dare I say annoyance) when they are constantly flashing in your face, which will be the case 90% of the time in downtown Colombo.
  24. Didn't that belong to Asanka? I remember he tried racing it once but it overheated.
  25. There's a pink bus on the 150 route which says "Loin King". Saw it today, but I couldn't take a photo.
