  1. Honestly, I'm losing hope with Volvo. I'm helping a friend search parts for an S40 that's come into his possession recently, and parts are about as rare as hens' teeth. My personal opinion through my limited experience is to ignore them and look at similarly priced japs instead.
  2. My Android finally crashed after logging nearly 990 hours of uptime :(

Ah.. I got the OS upgraded if that's what you mean. Currently running 2.3.3, I don't think this supports anything higher since I check once in a way for updates.

  3. Get the MAF sensor inspected and cleaned, and then check your fuel consumption again.
  4. I would advise against running it like this, apart from taking it to the garage to get it fixed. It will definitely affect the gearbox due to its erratic shifting behaviour. Your issue might most probably a simple one where the connector is loose, rather than a bad sensor.
  5. That seems about right, your transmission has no idea where the shift points are so its basically shooting in the dark. The cam position sensor (also known as the cam angle sensor) is different, but the FB15 did have an issue with that as well, on the QD15 engines. But your issue lies not with that.
  6. Indeed, the mockery makes it cool by default. My only concern is that hopefully he used an AE85 and not an AE86.
  7. it was actually the Pontiac GTO "The Judge" which came with the bonnet mounted rev meter. Watch "The Last Ride" starring the late and great Dennis Hopper.
  8. I'd get myself an LM002 over those two abominations, any day of the week.
  9. Unexpected results, srsly. The day belongs to Lotus, Kimi and Romain.
  10. Ok so slightly confused. My phone shows (I have all major sporting calenders sync'd with google apps) the Bahrain race was set to start at 4:30pm, but SBK was an utter fiasco with the rain and the delayed pushed the race beyond 4:30pm. So is the new start time of 5:30pm part of some kind of agreement between the different motorsport governing bodies and media companies?
  11. Yes I know what he meant. And what I meant was that the new tire compounds Pirelli has come up with this year degrade faster than last year's, to keep things more competitive. Edit: Also I missed today's qualifiers due to my siesta.
  12. There were two 600s up for sale here about two months ago, maybe they're still available. Do a search in the Buy section.
  13. I feel sorry for the poor bugger who has been trying to flog off that abominable red Vios since last year.

  17. Good thing my friend's one is a MY2000 model and runs perfectly well even now. I've driven it myself. He just wants to get the trim and and everything done up to make it presentable again.
  18. It seems to me your climate control is set on AUTO. Not sure how the older toyota units work, check the AUTO button and if the indicator associated with it is lit. If not, the control unit may be stuck on AUTO.
  19. Okay, so rather than create a new thread I awoke this. A friend has recently acquired an S40, and wants to carry out a sympathetic restoration of it. The car has been abused quite a bit by the previous owner (his friend), and there's damage to some parts of the interior trim e.g door hand grip unseated from arm rest, air vent trim cracked, door glass garnish/beading unseated and bulging out to name a few. So the question is, is there any place he can go about finding replacements for these bits and pieces, other than the agent?
  20. Kind of like when someone treads dog poo all over the carpet in the lobby of your office.
  21. "The more the Party is powerful, the less it will be tolerant: the weaker the opposition, the tighter the despotism." - Bought a second copy today because my first one is literally falling apart. The one book I never get tired of rereading. Ever.

  22. And it will run on my shitty desktop! I need to get it asap.
  23. Meh, nothing beats Warcraft II.
  24. The dashboard indicator will only display "O/D Off". The indicator will stay lit only as long as the engine is running. When you start your car the next time, it will be off because O/D is always enabled by default. But if you're in limp mode, your check engine light and the O/D off light should be lit or flashing. One thing you can try is to press the OD button while maintaining 80-90 kmh, if you're already in 4th then you should downshift to 3rd and vice versa. Don't go beyond those speeds since a downshift will cause unnecessary overrun of the engine.
  25. Apart from the OD switch, this issue has a little ambiguity to it. Firstly, at what speeds do you drive? If you're touching speeds of 90km/h and the engine is turning over at 3000rpm then yes your car has a problem. But if you're simply not going fast enough for it to shift into 4th, well then press the right pedal a little harder Edit: And every car makes a "hum" noise when in motion, you'll have to be more specific.
