Absolutely, there's nothing a bit of good ole Sri Lankan seasonings can't fix and most of the time cutting down on the oil is pretty easy to do. Especially when cooking mutton / lamb. Its so fatty that just browning the meat before cooking and using the rendered fat to cook / brown off everything else is a very simple way to cut down on using any extra cooking oils... 👍

Govt. suspends motor vehicles imports for 1 year
Kavvz replied to Skyonline's topic in General Automotive
True, but there are some good sellers / sales guys around and it sucks for them to be branded as not 'bothering to learn a real profession or skill'. (I do agree though about the 'seller warranties' though. Most of them aren't worth the paper they are written on, and its disgusting how sales guys and car-sale owners pray on the customer by selling them a false sense of security, when they well know that the warranty is completely useless and the chances the customer will be able to use it as intended are almost zero.) -
Yes: No issue at all for our Sri Lankan climate. All good 👍

Can't comment on the other stuff (no real experience with Liqui Molly) But I do use Mobil off and on, mainly as their marketing is so strong, but most of the time (70-80% of the time I would say) I use Castrol Edge fully synthetic. Its cheaper, and gets the job done. I've used it on a diesel and various other petrol cars for 3-5 years and I don't really see a huge difference between Mobil f.synthetic and Castrol f.synthetic to be honest.

Interesting point. (I never considered that angle. I was wondering why the car sale buggers were making all this fuss; as local inventory prices have appreciated, and anyone selling a car now would make good profits. But to your point: Right! Any inventory purchased in Japan etc that is waiting to be shipped is a huge liability. Especially if they bought their usual, slighty body damaged stock to be touched up in SL, that can't be resold easily back into that market...) -
Did you guys see the clip where Captain-Slow out cooks Gordon Ramsey? (The food looks really bland by our standards though, but the look on Ramsey's face at the end is priceless !!! )

A touch heavy on the the veg oil there but it does look pretty darn good 👍. I have an aunt who fries her beef cubes before making it into beef curry (probably like what's shown here) and it tastes amazing. Alas! No idea how she actually makes it though...

I have never tried it with Chicken Mr.@Sylvi,so I will await your results with interest...Meanwhile here's what I meant when I referenced Irish stew: And if you are watching what you eat you can even try it with just vegetables as below, and that comes out really nice as well. I've had this particular vegetarian version of Irish stew (the one that is listed below, not the one above) for dinner a couple of times. The only change we make to the recipe is to add a handful of cooked chickpeas and you can eat it as is, no need for bread and its very filling and relatively healthy (I think) that way too....

Wow! What a delightful little arrangement! So Ja-ela is the place to go for some good unadulterated toddy then I take it, not Kadugannawa? (Also I could be wrong but I believe over there in the hills its a different kind of toddy (kitual toddy) that they consume?) Never had a curry like that-But it sounds delicious! (It sounds a bit like Irish stew were the vegetables and meat get simmered in a dark stout etc.)

Really? Err. So all you would need is any old 4 cylinder and a hack-saw? (Asking for a friend...😎)
-
lol 😆 true! Has access to some VERY fancy cars though...
-
What I want to know is how did they get the Jimny exhaust to sound that darn good?! (@5:37 - wow! )
-
Ah! I thought you meant regular toddy!
-
50% German? Okay done. Its a pass for me! 😆
-
Never had the privilege of trying it... but will take your word for it!! 😆 (Even spent the better half of a hike to Kadugannawa looking for some!)
-
A new Supra then? And technically it would still be a 'Supra' albeit with a slighly German tinge, but still....😄

Loved the mental picture this brings up! It reminds me of my Great-uncle: Was an awesome fellow who loved his smokes as well !! I can totally picture your dad sulking around during curfew without ciggies for Uncle K was like that too! Only difference was that he smoked those cheapo cigars you find in small kade's so he would probably have no issues finding some even now...Was a grand old chap who lived into his late 90's. I remember how he used to sit on the verandah trying to read by the light of an old lamp he had during blackouts, totally pissed at government for not being able to regulate the electricity supply...I hung out and kept him company; partially because he was hilarious, and partially because the clouds of cigar smoke kept the mosquitoes away! ?

Buying a 2014 Aqua vs 2017/2018 Wagon R
Kavvz replied to Lakmalv's question in Car Buying Information
Hope you get your hands on one! ( Certainly a very good looking car with really classic lines...) -
I like it! Call me traditional, but the Darth Vader looking Civic was a bit too weird for me. This one looks alot better. It does look a bit European but in a good way: Digging what I can see so far!
