hahaha don't worry mate. we all went through that stage at some point in our lives. i still got neons in my vitz which i installed when i was 19 though i don't switch them on anymore anyways i'll be back in sl this saturday so perhaps you could arrange me a "private viewing" the knight xv however looks like something you can put together on your free time to scare off the trishaw drivers

there are some horror stories about gdi engined cars. other than that its a fabulous car. much more fun than owning a normal japanese car. the diesels are especially good. the only little foible i can think of from the top of my head other than the engines is the rather pointy front end (the sexiest thing about the car) which makes a the headlamps a little weak at night.

now this looks promising -
scriocco FTW!!! a friend of mine bought a 2.0 tsi in white. turns more heads than a ferrari. one of the most solid cars i've ever been in. its a strict 4 seater but even my mercinary type mate gets in the back with no complaints. if i'm right its got about 240 bhp. goes like the clappers. sounds awesome too. i'd have it over the drab golf any day.

you'll probably have to sort out a way to ship them down from japan cos even i'm clueless when it comes to shipping. as for fitting the parts you can probably do most of them yourself. ebay (esp. american) should be a good place to buy parts and have them shipped over easily. the problem with japanese companies are they are pretty expensive. i suggest you start with headers, panel filter with a cold air/ram air intake, decat/sports cat, and a performance cat back exhaust. lowering springs should be pretty easy to find on ebay. these mods should set you back around 100k. aero kits should also be readily available on ebay too.

i don't see the point of pumping nitrogen to our tyres in sl cos we never drive that fast and that hard for long periods of time. -
TRD and C-One makes quite a lot of parts for the rav4 and 1az engined cars. you should probably start of with suspension. lowering springs are ok as the rav4 has quite a lot to lose. the sportivo kit is good but expensive. its better buying the spings on ebay. if you want to do up the body just get an aero kit cos it wont look to flashy. 18" sound a good idea but make sure they are not that heavy and goes with the curves and lines of the car. as for the engine there should be turbos and blowers marketed on the stateside. they are designed for the 2az. but with little or no mods you should be able fit them to your engine.

i'm with you mate! thats why i didn't start this topic myself but seriously even i mentioned this sometime back. however if someone badly feels the urge to do this maybe you should at least wait till the car is sold before putting up a screen shot or something, well provided this one does get sold

no offence mate but that sounds boring! 1. the car should be tested in the environment its used. well just to make it look good that is. sportier cars can be taken to the track. people like tyre shredding action. if thats possible. basically the importers should spend some money on this cos this is would be good for their sales. filters and trick camera movements are a must. 2. having a racing driver is a good idea but i doubt everybody would wanna hear about whats under the hood. the host(s) should be very charismatic. should make even the most boring thing look exciting. and should have an idea what appeals to the audience. and a script should be written for every program 3. the dealers should have no intervention on the reviews cos its their fault if they are marketting a bad car. but we shouldnt be as critical as top gear. but rather focus on the cars flaws for the market they are being offered, like ground clearence fuel economy interior space 4. getting them to give tips sounds catastrophically boring. how about interviewing them on different matters like drunk driving, speeding, car theft on different episodes? but not repeatedly 5. letting the public call you is a problem cos that means the show will have to go live and that brings up a lot of complications. its better to get them to write about their problems and the best and most common ones can be picked out to give a solution. it could be too boring and clinical for some people. but you could probably explain how to carry out routine maintenenace 6. this would get the viewers more involved in the show. also you should let them write in with their suggestions. i think extras should be added on random weeks. like a segment on the best driving roads, a sports personality, a quirky car of some sort with an interesting history, or some orgnisation. most importantly you'll need to drive some really fast cars to keep the viewers interested.

i was kinda hoping someone would bring this up this car was already i'd say "reviewed" somewhere else. there was a shot of the owner "proudly?" standing next to it

when you are buying a child seat make sure you buy one of those recaro ones. heck i'll have a baby just to own one of those

not at all. i was referring to tamils in the south who still make pro-ltte statements. and since you brought this up i'd like to mention that there might be an even bigger seperatist movement in the south with people branding unp supporters as ltte supporters just because they have a different approach to this problem. anyway i'd rather not comment on that matter any further as i haven't got anything pleasent to say about the people who does this branding and their sick mentality. anyways for the real beginning of the story we have to go back to 2004. the presidential elections was going to spell a major change for the country as well as the ltte. VP had only 2 options. lose the battle to a unp government or lose the battle to an slfp government (or whatever its called this week). after the election he made a statement that he's never met anyone as cunning as RW, not sure if he mentioned this but what he actually meant was sooner or later he would have defeated him through some political solution or something. that said MR wasn't exactly his saviour either. during the 70s and 80s when communism was the "in" thing. MR and VP were active members of this movement. except they were representing different races. i'm quite sure those 2 have even met one another on the early days of the jvp. the difference was MR went on to do proper politics whereas VP realised he's sitting on a gold mine and decided to switch the communist movement to a liberation movement. MR probably had a good understanding on VP's strategies. and VP was quite aware of this. but since he knew he was facing certain doom under RW's reign he decided to try his luck with MR. which meant some serious a*se licking and praying that the old friend would go easy on him. the election was a good example. VP knew the whole North NE and Eastern province would vote for RW. so he prevented anyone from voting as to help MR win the election and win over his goodwill. MR certainly was a happy man but lucky for us he got the right message. someone must have told him that there will be a whole lot more money flooding in if the war was finished than what we got at that time. so that was that. i don't know if everyone will agree with me but that just my 2 cents.

happy birthday mate! have a good one p.s. nice topic title

the NE will be under military control for the next few years. troops are offered free houses in the areas they captured. and the refugees will be resettled among them. so it will be a mixed community depending solely on agriculture and fisheries. any advances will be swiftly dealt with by the military. any thoughts on the "ltte supporters" of the south? personally i'd rather not talk to them.

congrats mate!

i've seen even 19s on the vitz with the right offset you should be able to fit them. if i was running 13 steelies i would go from some rota lightweights or jsps preferabally in 14". trust me everything about your car will feel 10 or 20% better
-
i drove one many many years ago. and it felt pretty solid. but it was a brand new car and like all indian goods i don't know how long it will stay that way. so see if you can drive a somewhat older example and see if it still feels just as good
-
i think 14"s are ur best option. cos 15s are going to be pretty heavy. heck i got 15s on mine. they weigh in at 7.3 kg at each corner. anything lighter than that should be ok. and make sure you get the offset right. it should be 45mm. and tyres over 175 are pointless too if urs is a 1.0. if i were you i'd get the original 14" vitz wheels imported from japan. they'll look pretty good on ur car.

i was thinking about this for quite a while remember auto vision? that was way too clinicial but at the same time they managed to be very un-factual. there are reasons why such shows wouldn't work in sl. for one thing we cant be critical about any of the cars. even if its a maruti we'll have to say its fantastic cos a*w will make a phone phone call next day if we did and will get you fired. (this did happen on one occasion) the other thing is we'll need good cameramen good editing skills and awesome script writer. and at least one really really fast car to be driven around every week. since there's not much of a new car industry so we'll have to resort to stis and evo's etc etc. the biggest problem would be the language. we can't do it in sinhala cos most importantly the terminology used for anything involving cars is pretty rubbish. and then there's a problem of using television sinhala and being able to be entertaining i.e. funny at the same time. there should be technical segments but definitely not rice sections cos some idiot will come and say "i closed my eyes and let the design form inside my head" when its clearly straight off some fast and the furious movie
