Rims won't (or can't) come so soon after so much expense. So I'll stick with these ones for a while though they badly need a cap to hide the open middle. Mind you these are light alloy although they look steel rims! After the engine in dropped in I will consider if I want to lower the car very slightly with a set of stiffer springs. Hmmm definitely can't sell anything below the waiste

Got my baby back home (well office) at last. This is the rear end at last with proper Carello lamps and not the Daihatsu lamps I had to put up with for years! As mentioned before the paint work is fabulous! My pics don't do justice to the actual finish.....of course I'm missing an arm and a kidney after paying for it....but then life is short isn't it?
  3. What were the original wheels Velocity?
  4. Know what you mean fatjoe. My Italian car cherry was plucked in a 131 S owned by an uncle . 8 Sri 2121. The car just felt special like none other. My other relatives had Lancers, Datsuns, Peugeots and one had a brand new Merc 123. And we had a Mazda 808. But the Fiat just felt so much more special that all those put together. That exhast roar and acceleration is what stuck in my mind. Those padded alcantara seats with funky head rests were not unhelpful either. It's the car that really infected the Italian bug in me. Btw anyone interested in a 132 2000GLS?? Just found one which seems like "not a major" project. Factory fitted a/c, PS, and power windows and those padded seats again though not alcantara. Needs a full paint as its in primer. It started on one flick though and the 2.0 twim cam sounds healthy. There still are many spares in Panchikawatte and I reckon it won't be a nightmare to get it into the shape below.......
  5. No mate it's in Kurunegala.

Yep it's the Micro workshop in Seeduwa. They took on the job as a special favour since the guy who runs the place loves Alfas.

Thanks dhp. Yes the yacht guys might be worth a try. Yep there are Nardi Classico wheels that I can buy off the shelf. They are expensive and anyway I somehow like if I could retain my original. I'll take the wheel off one of these days and thanks to Pb2k who started this topic I have a spare plastic wheel until the wood rim is restored!
  10. Yep there were a couple of Mercs a few Peugeots, a the remains of a Lancia Beta . It was a company that was in the tourist travel trade and these cars were used to transport tourist in the 70's I believe, before they went bust. What a waste!
  11. No no this is how the cars were when this so called 'collector' bought the two 132s. But the thing is this 'collector' is only one step better. He has about 80 cars! And all are in poor shape, with no attempt at restoration taking place. But they still go around buying stuff and adding to their collection. Some of the cars are just covered with a bit of polythene and all are packed almost touching each other like sardines. Really a sickening sight.
  12. Of course it's all very sensible and all. But my point is that they're diluting the brand value like crazy. Porsche now own the VW group which consists of VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley and Lambo. They can leave the Diesel SUV to Audi and VW. Porsche has been a truly great brand with a fabulous competition history. The core of the brand is lightness, sportiness, racing, responsiveness, minimalism, purity of engineering etc. That what has made Porsche what it is (until recently). That's what makes the Porsche brand stand out above the rest. It beats me what a humongous levithian of an SUV is doing in its range............. and now it's going to get a heavy VW diesel engine!! What's the differnece between the Cayenne and the Toureg then....?
  13. Yes it's a photoshop. Looks good indeed. Recent Maz's have been looking quite good! I like the new 3 Sedan as well, it's a good evolution of the current one,
  14. Oh god!!! It look awful to me in profile and front on - bit Corvette C6-ish . The rear is the only angle I can accept. What ashame! We know Porsche can do better! Look at the 928! Also heard that the hedeous Cayenne is getting an Audi Diesel!
  15. Then This one?? http://allcarsreview.com/2007/12/16/new-ma...veiled-in-2009/
  16. I've heard from "sources" that it might be possible to bring in a car over te years providing your plea is accepted by the import controller. Provinding of course that you have proof of ownership for X number of years. According to this source. It's left to the descretion of the controller. You will have to convert or bring a kit and convert it to RHD before registering though.
  17. Just beat the deadline with my two old Alfas. The Club has made a request for some allowance that should be heard. There are hundreds of classics and thousands of other vehicles on the road that will not comply IMO. So some thinking will be required. There's the other thing of greasing palms which may also give you a "PASSED" chop. Let's wait n see.

While on the subject of Porsche, check this out, http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/wild-ass-...ngine-failures/ So much for German precision...... I my long term Boxter dream just faded a bit
  21. These two sad 132s were found last year. Now they are with another wierdo who just collects and neglects.... They've got that cracking twin cam and five speed under the hood.

    Price Check

Btw a MK 1 Jag fully restored went for 4.1m So the buyers ARE out there! But not for basket cases.

    Price Check

Prices for classics are highly condition sensitive. IMO these are the ranges you should be looking at depending on how good bad or ugly they are. Of course some of them are crazy prices that I'll never pay . Morris 8 (1940's era) - 75,000 - 600,000 Triumph Herald (1960-1970) - 50,000 - 250,000 for a saloon, 150k - 350k for a coupe...... Soft top is very rare. Triumph Spitfire - 1.2m - 2m Austin Healey Sprite - 650k - 1.5m Austin A40 - below 150k Sunbeam Talbot - which model??

Either the owner has added a zero too much or he is the king of wishful thinking!
  25. Oh yeah Ursala as Honey Ryder is everyones favourite so much so that they recreated the scene with Halle Berry in Die Another Day! Funny I know but I prefer Daniela Bianchi as Tatiana Romanova in From Russia with Love from all the Connery Bond babes! Just like I prefer Caterina Murino to Eva Green in Casino R. About losing the plot. I have yet to watch Quantum of Solace.......but if at all Bond has always adapted and re-invented itself according to the times in order to survive. After all it is the most successful franchise isn't it?
