If you shift to D or R and stay on the brake, a little bit of vibration is normal. If the vibration is heavy enough to feel uncomfortable, then its most likely the engine mounts. If there is an RPM fluctuation (check the RPM meter) when the car is on idle, it might be an indication of some other problem that may or may not be solved by an engine tune-up. Let us know how the RPM meter behaves and also let us know what happens when the A/C is on or off. IN any case, what I feel is u got a basic problem which any decent mechanic should be able to figure out.

7-8 kmpl is pretty normal for an allion, especially if you are in Kandy (hideous traffic and hilly terrain). I hope u didn't buy the car recently, thinking it will do 12-13 If there's a vibration on shifting to R, first thing you ought to do is to change the transmission fluid.

Moderators, sorry for promoting my new business as a soothsayer but I need the money$$$$

Do you honestly think anyone can answer this question without taking a good look at the engine???? First of all, I feel your friend is not a very good friend if he's offering an AE110 for 22/50. Just check the classifieds for prices. There are english numbered 110s quoted for less. Even a hacked 110 can be brought back in to good condition thanks to the dirt cheap spares.

If you cannot find the parts in Ajantha Motors or Maruchi, you will have to get one off ebay

Interesting to note that: Ragama station was known as 'Mahara' back then Gampaha station was known as 'Henarathgoda' back then An express train took only 55 minutes to reach Veyangoda those days (120 yrs ago), which is the same duration today... talk about development! -
Is The Vehicle Market Crashing In Sri Lanka?
Crosswind replied to MoneyMaker's topic in General Automotive
and that's news? there were ads in the paper two or three months back offering Montero by United and Prado by TL for the same permit I wonder what the politikkas are gonna feel like buying when civil servants also drive montys and prados -
Did you try Eranda (London Mini @ Polhengoda)? He stocks tyres for Minis sometimes.

Yes you got a good memory. A quick web-search revealed that the aircraft that flew to Colombo was a Lockheed Constellation (http://en.wikipedia....d_Constellation), which is a four-engined propeller aircraft. Must have been a very very long uncomfortable ride for its passengers. Edit: Here's a timetable from 1955. TJ902 and 904 terminated in Colombo. -

TWA ad was from 1953 apparently. I guess the change of government in 1956 and subsequent wave of nationalism would have had some effect on the country's decline of international importance. Edit: Wikipedia says TWA flew to colombo from 1953 to 1961 -
yup. Definitely. And op can even do a half-ass diesel conversion with the money left over. And get some fake chrome plasticky things to stick all around.

Here's a little contribution from me (being the armchair airline enthusiast I am).. Had hundreds of these pics in my e-mails but I seem to have lost many.... Air Ceylon Douglas DC-8-53 Zurich Switzerland, June 1977 Air Ceylon Douglas DC-8-53 Miami - International (MIA / KMIA) USA - Florida, May 1979 Douglas DC-8-41 Singapore - Paya Lebar (QPG / WSAP), November 1976 Air Ceylon HS-121 The same HS-121 getting scrapped Air Ceylon DC-3 Dakota DC-4, 4-engine propeller aircraft The days when US Aircrafts used to fly to Ceylon... note that the advert says Ceylon is an 'important world center' 'Maha Devi' the great goddess in the sky Another example of the importance of Ceylon as a world centre. The longest non-stop flight in the world, back in 1943 was between Australia and Ceylon. This was flown by the RAAF. They called it the 'double sunrise'. You can guess why. -
Unfortunately that seems to be the case. The whole problem started was when the few people (who actually meant what they said), solicited the support of every tom, dick and harry to take their cause to the public. This meant that they had to listen to all those idiots who were just out there to make trouble or make a quick buck.

1.5 Million, Which One Would You Buy?

Well... Here r my reasons for the Daewoo 1. I have never driven a leganza myself but i have driven a chevrolet/holden epica, which is the successor of leganza. Its bloody comfortable and a sheer pleasure to drive. If the leganza is 1/10 as good as epica, that would be enough 2. Amongst koreans of that vintage, i have noticed daewoos holding out their build qualitY better than their ethnic brothers. After all, they were a General Motors product truethat the neighborhood sillara kade doesnt stock parts for daewoos but im sure u can find anything if u try. Btw i heard that geely spares r dirt cheap. In fact they r by far the cheapest spares in the country. So it would be good news for someone who likes chinese things. :-) -

The wild card will be something I would love to be in, if not for the horror stories of the reliability of 164s. So my choices in descending order would be 1.Leganza 2.Alfa 3. Carina 397. Geely :-) -
Definitely cheap but is it safe?

What usually happens is the good cars are used by senior executives for a few years (maybe 5) and then passed on to the car pool. That's when the raping begins. Maybe this organization is an exception.

Japanese To English Translation On This Dpd Instructions
Crosswind replied to sami_uyan's topic in General Automotive
1. Get a clearer photo 2. Do a Japanese OCR using this site - http://maggie.ocrgrid.org/nhocr/ 3. Use Google translator to translate to English - http://translate.google.com/ -
If you are planning to do a quick buy-and-sell job with that, I have my doubts about its ease of selling. 600k is a reasonable price for someone whos willing to keep it for a while. Don't know which government organization keeps its 16 year old cars in 'good condition' though!

not allowed. i was in a similar situation and it didnt work out. At both kahathuduwa and galanigama interchanges
-
Afaik it was 50k sometime back and they call it 'registration fee'. Applies for non-prestige imported bimmers.

If you don't know anything about a car, you also have the option of keeping your mouth shut. Do exercise that option once in a while.

Just did a bit of googling. Check and see if this helps: http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=659542
