  1. Ford focus!
  2. Sorry for waking up a dormant topic. Does anyone know what happened to the place which was in rajagiriya, near the bridge? Have they moved elsewhere or closed shop? Also r there any new recommendations for leather seat restoration?
  3. The biggest issue you would face in a 406HDI would be with the diesel pump. Especially if regaular diesel waas used. Also I highly doubt if a well maintained specimen could be found for less than 2 million.
  4. Suzuki Swift spoiler will fit in. There are plenty in Delkanda. Also try the new joint that has popped up close to Japan Lanka in Kalubowila. The trouble is they might not want to sell the spoiler alone, as it is fitted to the tailgate.
  5. Arpico. 220 bucks. Comes in a spray bottle. Label says armorall original protectant. Good stuff.

Search the forum. There's plenty of info.
  7. The idiot in the service station decided to do the same.luckily I had armorall plastic polish in hand. That did the trick.
  8. Great. Let's hope to see that in action...
  9. Can't blame the bugger machan. It's the bloody sorento and sportage generation.
  10. First up, you need to understand a simple fact before accusing others. Let's take a few examples... 1. I hear an unusual noise from my car. What is it? 2. My car is not moving as fast as I expected. What's wrong? 3. I hear Japanese sentences in my car. What do they mean? 4. What is the difference between March K10 and Alto K10? 5. Should I buy a Nissan Cefiro or Maruti 800? 6. I'm gonna buy a car. Is the car market going down? etc. etc. Did you notice a trend here? These are all vague questions that do not contain any facts for a knowledgeable person to come to a conclusion and help you. No question is a stupid question if you are new to something. But if you ask something in a damn stupid way, even the most serious question could sound silly. That's the reason why you got rude responses except from the wannabe romeos that get their testostrerone pumping every time they see a feminine profile name. For example, if Jami asked this same question, would you think he would have got even one serious response? So if you seriously want help, give as many facts as possible. Do some googling or searching in the forum first, and then post the question. Then you can expect real help from experienced persons.
  11. Cheap and double cabs dont really go together. Even if u get something from the early 80s, u still might end up spending well over 2million. U r much better off looking for a restored 4DR5 jeep. I am completely ignoring the fact that brands like tata and mahindra exist and they make contraptions that resemble double cabs.
  12. Another troll thread by OP
  13. let me know if u need an assistant photographer

  15. Is the damn thing based on the BMW X1 or something? That's what it reminds me of!
  16. I don't think its ethical to discuss vehicles advertised in AL, in the forum. First up, u don't want to put off paying customers (their money keeps this forum alive). Secondly, it can cause a legal dilemma for the site owners/moderators.
  17. machan i have a marvellous idea for a new invention. Its something that is so flexible, it can move anything that is connected to it, on its own. Its a circular thingamajig. I'm gonna name it.... The wheel! So dont give me a fullstop too.
  18. Bio-fuels (like Jdnet mentioned), have been around for eons. It's just not commercially viable. Let's take a small country like Sri Lanka for example. We consume about 50000 barrels of petrol and diesel a day. A barrel is approx 160 litres, which makes it 8 million litres a day. Where exactly do the supply come from, even to meet 1% of the above figure? And what will happen to the price of oil when the demand increases? It's just like trying to send a man to the moon in 2012. With technology, it can be done. But what's the bloody point of it?
  19. I know starlets are reliable cars but do u think its worth spending that kind of money for something of that age? I'd never understand the logic of the Toyota fan club
  20. Remember the old sri lankan saying "inguru deela miris gattha wagey"? I have a gut feeling that taking the dealership from Carmart and giving it to Colonial Motors might be a good example for the above saying
  21. I also wish add for potential car buyers, that the safest way to pay for a car that you bought, is through a bankdraft.. If you are making a bank draft, you should add a note saying its Payment for car XX-XXXX. Direct deposit is relatively safer and paying cash is not very safe. If it is a direct deposit, you should inform the teller and ask the teller to add it as a note in the system. This will give an added proof that the buyer legally bought the car and paid for it in cash. Much safer than getting a letter from the seller.
  22. For non-English numbered vehicles -> NO VIC For English-numbered vehicles with a pink registration book -> NO VIC If the vehicle doesn't fall in to either of the above categories, there will be a VIC.
  23. You just don't get the point do you? Yes you can get a letter signed by a lawyer and go thru the whole drama as you stated. That DOESN'T LEGALIZE AN ILLEGAL DEAL. That's the whole point that you probably understand but deny. Now let's see what may happen... The deal: AF79 buys a permit from Siripala (govt officer) and the deal is brokered by Money Maker and his friend the Lawyer (purely hypothetical names) Scenario 1: Nothing adverse happens during the permit period (3 years). AF79 is happy with his crossover SUV, Money Maker is happy with his 100000 cut on the deal. Lawyer is happy with his 15000 and Siripala is happy with the 900000 he gets. This is what happens nearly 99% (or more) of the time. Scenario 2: Someone decides to send a petition to the relevant ministry. Even then Money Maker is happy with his 100000 cut on the deal. Lawyer is happy with his 15000. Both of them just deny any involvement on the deal or just vanish. AF79 flashes around his so-called power of attorney at the inquiry, claiming ownership. Now the ministry of finance and planning gazzette notification regarding permits clearly says the vehicle cannot be sold, hired or even lent to anyone. So AF79 successfully proves that he owns the vehicle and at the same time he will end up proving that an illegal deal took place. If this happens, according to the permit clauses, AF79 will have to pay all due taxes calculated based on the prevailing CIF value, exchange rate and tax rate and at the same time may end up paying a penalty. The other option AF79 has would be to donate the vehicle to the government (ie. get his vehicle impounded). Siripala on the other hand may end up getting suspended from the job and he can state that he doesn't have any money to pay the due taxes. So AF79 will not get any help from Siripala. I hope this is clear to even the stupidest idiot on earth. What made me laugh even more is the statement about VVTi recommending Toyotas to people
