Will do Ripper - hoping to get some deals at the motor show -planning to go today
-
I have the same issue with guys behind using their head lights- I tilt the mirror but then I get the light in my eyes through the side mirrors - So It’s plain stupidity and ignorance rather arrogance of these drivers since we know they auto light up on low beam mode. Members please try to avoid using your head’s all the time – Like ripper said if you’re driving a long stretch /outstation then do but try to dip it when you get oncoming traffic. Ripper – Thanks for the info – So u have sourced it from out of SL. In that case I may have to look around SL to see if I get some. Any 1 know if Philips (H4) are good ?

Hi Guys Just read of a new motor oil called SINOPEC… Well the add says that people think all great oils are form the US- this is from china …..Any 1 out there used this stuff. I for one will not change over from Castrol but I’m sure there would be people out there who would . www.sinopec.lk Cheers

Could not agree with you more so – I too was out of the country just for a short period just over 2 years and there has been a big difference in basic driving principles. People are just plain selfish , arrogant. My friends think that I’m not all that right in my head as I turn in to Hide ( jackal & hide ) when I get in to my car. I too am starting to wonder if I’m mentally unbalanced now – friends keep saying just ignore it. It’s gone to a situation where I had a MARUTI driver trying to overtake me from the left sides whilst I was having my signal lights to turn to the left – He also has the nerve to make gestures at me - Who;’s to blame – Firstly the mushroom driving schools, no proper police ( there only so much they can do as we got bigger problems – feel sorry at time for the Kochi’s ) As they say Banana Republic I feel one of these days I may be in serious trouble - with the law and having to live in a prision cell

I don't think that's the case... it would be able to dim it. It's just the way it's installed and the product type.
-
Hay GihanFX Seriously it's not funny mate : in other countries there are laws to prevent this So that means u can't dim the lights ? Well leaving aside your friend - most moron's don't know wat is meant by the other person flashing - some just don't have the brains to dip it - in most cases the roads are well lit and still they drive with the head. Like Maithri said- there must be a correct way to set it up /proper units – I’m sure HID’s were not meant to blind the oncoming guy just so that the owner can see the road.

Thanks for the warning ...DJ - ooops sorry to hear abt that .... Thanks to u too Ripper- so the a higher watt is not necessarily good Would be good to use a PIAA then with a standard 55W. Did u get them locally ? What's the cost - I suppose it would be high but can't grumble ( can't have everything neda ? )

Yes that would help I too would like to know about how we can go about replacing the current bulbs with xenon bulbs. I was told to use a relay and that would help. As mentioned by Devinda. One concern I have is that if I use say 90w/100w would my plastic headlight lence get damaged ? Or would a xenon 55/60W give out more light than the standard halogen bulb ? This was talked about somewhere else but I’m confused at the moment Hellllpppp pls.

I don’t want to sound as a sour Puss ( even if I did – not that I give 2 hoots abt it ) Can’t quite understand what all the fuss is about – After all you are getting a car way much cheaper than the average people. So paying a bit more couldn’t hurt that much …… Sheekr : as U said U already had 3 permits ….. wOw …… It’s just silly that one part of the community should be getting all the benefits …… Makes us average guys feel as we are not contributing to the country’s development … paying income tax ect..

Looks like it’s going to be even worse driving on the roads next year….too many cars – same roads with worsen conditions and a heap load of moronic driver ( No offence meant to any 1 here just the blooming 3 wheelers and busses etc.. yes car drivers as well) WOW…. Just great…………
-
HI DoN Wish you all the best – I gather it’s a deleted B day… never the less happy motoring for the coming years Cheers

I'm feeling left out ..... Mazda Any 1 ???
-
Hi Maithri Thanks for the advise. Yes I was somewhat surprised too when they said there would be issues with the washers/seals etc. Since you have experience in this I 'm sure it’s safe to put DOT 4 provided that all the DOT 3 is removed and completely empty. Thanks a lot

Yes as Mazda & Ford are the same - Lalith is his name
-
shoot... there goes that option then..... Any ideas on a local place ?
-
Hay Mod’s any news on the Sticker ? If it’s out and been communicates – then sorry I’ve missed it -oooops If it’s out how can I get 1 ? Wat’s da cost ?
-
That’s great. Any chance u can drop me a mail with the name and contact nos of your garage. Most garages (Due to lack of equipment) pump the peddle to release the break oil and then fill it up and re pump the peddle to make sure there is no air bubble’s. [email protected] Speaking on the subject of brakes – can we use DOT 4 ? I was told that has a higher boiling point. IF so can I change my DOT 3 and replace with DOT 4 ? What precautions should I take and are there any down sides ? Thx

Very true Don – even Americans are now changing their attitudes and going in for smaller cars (So I heard from somewhere) The Mazda/Ford’s are not uncomfortable in the sense it been a pain in the rear when u drive. I need to get out of the car to stretch latest every 1 ½ hrs on any Japanese vehicle. Not had the opportunity to go in a real American car yet. Do agree there are good guys who knows about the cars to a good extent. May man in Piliyandala is 1 guy. But things like doing a diagnosis is not possible with him yet as he has not got the equip. Hoping some day he will. The sad part is due to the poor performance of the agents the market drops and the perception of the car is destroyed. Forums like this help educate and get opinions- adding to that Both the A/L team and members are doing a fine job. Unfortunately not all have the access to this site and is aware what the it does. Hope Dig Daddy get’s a good deal. After all that’s what all of us here want – a good deal with out been suckered - Like my first cay buy was (Wished A/L was there then)

Dam ! what a shame.... looks like I'm going to get stuck... if DPMC pulls out there's virtually no place to go as Carmart is crap too It's a shame - 2 very good brands and no proper attention form the agents - Just look at the Mazda showroom - what a dump I’ve seen Saiwara joints better than that U Honda /Toyota guys are really lucky....

Ya the curves are nice – I tried to look for a ford but did’t find a good 1 with a reasonable price tag during the time I was hunting. Well fuel would be around 8-9 Colombo with AC. Recommended timing belt change is at 90-100,000 K. What U can do is check if he has had records (the mileage) and if not I would recommend changing the belts as U never know if the meters have been changed(even digital ones) if no records get at least 20K reduced. Recommend to take it to DPMC & get a full check up – cost about 3000/- but better safe than sorry, or take it to the guy I mentioned. One reason to have a low resale value is the body parts - bit hard to source but other than – all mazda stuff. Overall the price is good. Good luck & psl post pics if u buy it
-
Well my 2 cents - Try to have another person with you - so that (preferably a HE) can keep eye on tha car to make sure nothing is pulled out. Whilst the other go's and checks for the prices. YES - first negotiate and then go for the goods... always walk away from the first person or if they ask for a thumping amout with out saying a word Cheers
