Guys sorry to take you all off the topic at hand... I am desperate in need of a place to get a K&N Filter cleaner solution and oil. Usual place Moto Kade is out of stock and will not get stock for about a month. Please help with a pointer at the right direction.
  3. This was discussed 2 years back with the same outcome..... http://forum.autolanka.com/lofiversion....php?t4211.html
  4. This is by far the craziest comment I have seen regarding the brilliant 1NZFE!!!! Please name one person who has had his engine seized! Sludge issue is not a chronic problem in these engines which requires anything but regular oil changes. You will get a small issue if you keep adding oil and all the XR1 muck in! As long as you put the recommended oil, change it on time and STOP adding every other performance enhancing additive in the market, you will be fine. How do I know? Since 2001 I have been using, 1NZFE engine based vehicles, (Platz, 121, 122 and Vios) and none of them ever had any issues you claim to have had. And believe me, I have run in excess of 5000Kms a month on the 121 and the Platz with no 'sludge' problem, on both Ceypetco and Mobil 1 My advise is, Stay off the 1NZFE and let it do its job, open only to add water to the washer reservoir, check the fluid/oil levels or just to admire the engine! The popular garages you talk about are the ones who has made a mess of this issue by poking their fingers in to things that they have no understanding of.
  5. Guys, hate to sound like a wet blanket... but SR Packs Sounds like that toothpaste brand we used to have in SL...
  6. Count me and my P11 in!
  7. WD40! Solves all your problems.
  8. hey Devinda, bit off track, do you know of anyone who can point me in the right direction to get a set of alloys that came with the U14 BB? The ones I am looking at are the 5 spoke 4 stud ones.
  9. Sorry for the late reply Devinda, I was getting around 8.0-8.5km/l... i think it is around 9.5 now...slight increase and yes it a manual. No complaints. Actually yesterday I removed the whole assembly and cleaned the throttle body and all... not much dirt as I expected. Fairly clean, even after 3 months of rather heavy usage. But in long trips, I managed about 510-525Kms out of a full tank of 52 litres. But unoless its a placebo effect, I am certainshe feels different. My BIL who drove it before the K&N said there is definitely a change. Revs up easier as well.
  10. Yeah I did the same for my SR20 and got the K&N to fit the stock air box... been running well since i got it, more sprightly and free revving. Saw a mild increase in fuel efficiency too. Time to now invest in the cleaning kit....
  11. H ah aha ha.. I once pulled 8 old aunties in a 323 Interplay! after a daane... I insisted that I will come back again after the first trip to drop them , bUt NO, they insisted on piling in... 2 in the front + me and 6 in the back!!!! You are right, the 323 Engines seems to love pulling weight!
  12. I agree with HellRazor.... getting small claims all the time affects your risk factor and also your no claim bonus will be affected. 7 in 10 months is too much, no Insurance company will tolerate that kind of risk without imposing extra charges. If you do make a noise all you will do is open yourself up for criticism. That particular company for me has always been wonderful. My wife's' car had 3 serious dents and each time they came and approved the repair, but we never got it done due to this or that reason. Finally we got them all done at once settled the garage and went on a Saturday morning to show the staff in Vauxhall street for payment approval. They took the photos and said they will send the payment later, I assumed that it will take a few days. We did our work for that day and we got home around 4 , PRONTO has delivered the cheque for 45K already!!! That is Service, my friend! So, I am thinking that they are within their rights to impose an excess payment due to what in their eyes must be a 'very high risk'. No offense meant. As a rule, if it''s less than Rs. 5000 I don't claim.
  13. Do yourself a favor. Sell her. Use that money to buy a B13 if all else fails and lead a trouble free/minimum life..... you are about to open a can of worms my friend trying to restore 'originality' to a mass produced headache. Cut your losses.
  14. Not servicing your car for 2 years is asking for trouble, mate!
  15. forget the OD button... just drive it in D... Peopel in SL make up rules along the way when it comes to driving an Auto... they make it sound like rocket science sometimes. If you are that keen in constantly messing with the gear lever while driving, get a manual
  16. I find it rather amusing that Toyota itself is saying this nonsense! There is no such thing as 'manually' shifting an 'auto'. Sigh..... First of all are you sure about the mileage in your car? ATF needs to be changed circa 30-35k in SL. Earlier if possible. The hesitation and the 'non jet' sound could be that. Get the ATF changed at some reputed place and do a Fuel System Cleaner and see. Also, how you are driving the auto is correct. D is the general mode unless you are towing something or going up some steep hill with a full load. Colombo driving is just D. That's it.
  17. Ha ha ha ha!!! Don't we know that!!!!
  18. Not really machang... most of the shops in Nugegoda will be happy to pull of the whole meter board from a Dash. I got a meter board a few weeks back and they charged only Rs.2500 and that too, they pulled off a Dashboard, (Bluebird U14). Gangodawila stretch, Japan Lanka Autos.
  19. Can the P11's that came to SL B/new with the SR20 be re-flashed?
  20. Oops Yes!! Sorry... too much beer last night when i typed that...
  21. Machang, 6 months ago I bought SuperSync( Valvoline) for Rs. 5700 from MK. Not sure how much it is now, the CAltex EdgeSport is Rs. 6500. Went there last Sunday and saw a new stock. But heard that there is a Valvoline showroom somewhere in Union PLace...
  22. Well when they attacked us in 2001 and destroyed most of our Civilian fleet, i doubt they were targeting the SLAF per se....
  23. take to the agents, get their opinion and get it done somewhere else if really want to.. never taken mine there though... enough and more capable people out there.
  24. mine started with the creaks...then they became 'thuds' and then the real fun began.. I ran with the creaks for a few months. But the road conditions really makes it go bad fast. mine was all messed up when I bought her. From the ball joints to the bushes. The biggest cost after the actual shocks will be the top Swing arms, if they are messed up you need to replace. Both were around 13k at Pionr. The issue with multi link sus (according to my mech) is that if you don't tend to the immediate issue, it has a cascading effect with almost all parts failing soon after. Your creak is coming from the Swing arms, going by my experience. jack the car up, remove the wheel and check the condition of the swing arm mount. (attached to the top of the wheel well) they have rubber bushing at both ends. spray some WD40 on both ends and replace wheel and check. if it stops the noise that means the mounts and the rubber are moving independent of each other and will need to be replaced.
  25. I replaced mine (1997 P11) about 10 months ago. A to Z replacement. Bought all the parts from pion33r. Cost 75K just for the front. But parts are available. No big deal. But make sure you check all the replacements as no point in changing few parts as they are all inter-connected. I Put KYB for the front shocks. No problems still and I drive it a lot.
