  1. Check out the fourth paragraph.... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/press/notw-editor-spiked-paedophilia-scoop-on-arthur-c-clarke-for-fear-of-murdoch-7920816.html Man of the year?
  2. good morning.
  3. Honestly, there are so many great Sri Lankans we can idolize who actually cared about this country and have truly helped it.. Lakshman Kadirgamar, Ray Wijewardene, Upali Wijewardene and even Dr. Kulasinghe. Yet most Sri Lankans would rather idolize this white guy who actually stole from them. Quite typical. I'm not going to even get into the "SL Boys" thing. We all know why old Suddha's like spending their vacations at Hikkaduwa.
  4. You know, about a decade back I did research into him and interviewed the guy and all I can say is that the song remains the same. This is just another brit who managed to rape the country.
  5. How rich do you think science fiction writers were in the 50s? do us a favor and stick to your tesla thread ok.
  6. It's actually very interesting. The story goes that they found the ship while Mike Wilson was shooting a film at the Basses. What really happened was they knew the treasure was there and used the film as guise to find the treasure and reclaim it. If they were to just go treasure hunting someone would have found out. There was a little controversy at the time too when the Government found out about the treasure. Either way, Sri Lanka is not in possession of a single coin AFAIK. Amazingly, he decided to be a nice guy and donate some to smithsonian in the U.S.

  8. A guy in a maruti spent 10 minutes trying to get his car out of a parking lot. One of his passengers even got out and tried to guide him and mutliple cars had to pull bac after he nearly crashed into them. When he was finally done I got out, started clapping and whistling.

I believe the issue comes from the fact that some people just don't "feel" their vehicles, as opposed to those of us who feel our vehicles are an extension of our arms and legs.

  9. Great Basses. Shipwreck. Tons (literally) of silver plus a dozen or so cannons. Donates a few pieces to Smithsonian. None to our local museums. Pocketed the hefty bit of change from the rest. He's a stereotypical suddha that stole the lands treasures while the Sinhalese praised him. Oh yeah and please don't give me the speech about how he has given so much for this country. The fact is Clarke would be nothing if it weren't for this country. Science fiction writers are a dime-a-dozen.
  10. Seriously? He's like the second biggest douchebag you coould name a road after.
  11. are you sure it's screeching and not grinding? I would see if the rotors are warped or uneven and then clean em.
  12. how about cyclocross then? It's one of the bikes I really used to enjoy riding. Specially with mountain-road handlebars. So about the road bike. What exactly are you looking in terms of weight and components?
  13. not a fan of the quality of the newer Raleigh bikes. Do they have KHS over there? It's priced pretty decent and they perform better than the other big brands out there. Maybe you could also consider building the bike yourself? you may spend a bit more than a pre-built one but you would end up with a machine that's tailored towards you. edit: I thought you were talking about MTN bikes. So KHS is out.
  14. A leak could occur due to a number of reasons. If you are using water you would not be able to spot it in many cases. Did the mechanic explain why he thinks it's a head gasket leak? did he check the hoses, water pump and cap? Also you could very well have a leak in one of the heater lines. I spent months figuring out a leak that turned out to be at the connections for the heater.
  15. ah now some idiot is going to come in and ask whether the value of a car with six air bags is less than two because you will have to replace all six when you crash the car. I can picture the car sale people saying, "sir me car ekka value wedi ne. air bag dekkai ne thiyenne. Spare part gannang addui."
  16. I think you may be wrong. This guy is not an idiot. He's a complete f*cking retard.
  17. Are you envisioning on crashing your car in the next 24 hours? The cost is varies from place to place, change in exchange rates, inflation, rarity at the time of purchase, whether the owner of the place had a hernia on the day you want to make the purchase, etc., etc. If you are trying to figure how much you want to insure your car for, then insure it at the highest price you can afford.

Don't believe everything you see and hear on TV. Specially the news networks.
  19. listen, you don't need to do all this crap to your engine. If an engine needed to be cleaned, don't you think it would be on the user manual? if you want it looking good, just wipe it down. attempting to clean all thee nooks and crannies will only cause more trouble. It's not like it's going to increase performance or anything. Just make sure the oil and filters are changed on time and drive your car.
  20. OH and BTW i thought you were an expert with all the retarded advice you have been giving? you should have known that washing an engine with a pressure washer is a big no-no.
  21. steam works, but, are you willing to buy a steamer just so you can clean your engine? BTW those little 12k rupee steamers abans sells will not do the job. I clean mine using a rag dipped in warm water and wrung out.
  22. here's a tip. The next time you don't know something, please shut up instead of giving out advice ok? We already have too many experts who post advice based on google and what they heard the mechanic monkey say when they were at a garage.
  23. Ane nangi why don't you just bugger off now? come back when you know how much things cost and you start paying for them with your own money ok? Now, don't get into any more accidents. Taththi might cut your allowance.
  24. just put in tokico shocks. The OEM ones are tokico IIRC. They will be the best. You are making it sound like you have a high performance sports car or something. The familia is a basic four door sedan.
  25. If you don't know what you are talking about please keep quiet ok. Engine flushes should only be used as a last resort and if you are doing one you should be ready to rebuild the engine in any case.
