  1. A car found in Sri Lanka as scarce as hen“s teeth.
  2. NIssan Stagea? I saw what I think is a Stagea being used as a hearse. I died little, inside.
  3. I thought you'd be tempted. No idea how this would work on a road though. These things have high centers of gravity.
  4. You should have a two screws on the headlight that you can rotate. There were two of those on my headlights and I thought they were not supposed to be turned since both were too tight. Once I put the nightbreakers, turned them on, popped the hood and gave one of those puppies a few turns and lo and behold beam started going up and down. Followed the instructions at by Eric the Car Guy and now the headlight aim looks pretty good. Eric's instructions are for a Honda but the general idea should apply nevertheless.
  5. Just wanted to share this purely because of the last few lines the guy says.
  6. I saw some engine on i#ma#.lk. Might worth having a look there.
  7. Yep. 'WTF dude?' Indeed. Gents, make a note not to introduce your wives to this psycho.
  8. I dunno what the hell is up with Mitsubishis and Idle RPM. You know my history with it I've never been comfortable with the idling of the G as well. Should do a throttle body clean up sometime soon. As for the suspension noise, yeah I get that slight crunching noise too. Should get my mechanic to do the cleaning and re-greasing.
  9. Tiv, thanks for a very sensible review after aeons. looking forward to read more. I parked next to a Leaf the other day. Despite how it looks, it's actually a large car. Didn't realise it until I actually managed to have a closer look like that. Had 16" wheels like you said. What's the sort of electricity bill you guys are looking at after the addition of the Leaf?
  10. If you need alloys, might be able to hook you up with something. Laid my hands on 15" 4 stud 114 OZ racing wheels for 25k.
  11. Whoa! That is some detailed work on the interior. Did you get the hood lining wrapped that good locally?
  12. That my friend is something else. Let's just say that I'm gonna touch myself tonight looking at these pics. Congrats on a job very well done. More pics please before the night gets old BTW.
  13. maybe a dead spot in the TPS? Did it happen on the E01 where you have to maintain a constant speed?
  14. Mate, mind sharing the info about this place? A mate of mine running a Galant (hell yeah!) has some dash bits to be fixed.
  15. You sure about this? Been to Mr. Dhammika a couple of times and he did correct some issues, which would fall under 'engine tuning' on an EFI engine. As far as I know, you can't do much in terms of engine tuning on an EFi engine. I trust someone more knowledgeable in the subject would correct me on this. Throttle body cleaning is actually a DIY. I do it every time I get my car serviced.
  16. Found two Suzuki Samurais like 2 years back when I was looking for one. One bearing a 17- number (0.7 mil) the other bearing a 302 number (1.3 mil) both were in pretty good shape and I checked them out. Doesn't suit highway speeds at all. Buy you wouldn't buy one for highway miles anyway. Great off road capability especially with great entry, exit angles and good gear ratios. Apparently, a Samurai has the world record for the highest place reached by a vehicle with 4 wheels. Some great specimens come online for sale once in a while, like every 6-9 months or even rarer. You might have to grab one when these do come up for sale.
  17. My thinking speed and typing speed is way out of sync, much like the Puddle of Mudd folks. Anyway, here's the clarification. Upper Beams are H1. Lower Beams are H7. Fogs are H3. I replaced the Lower Beams with Nightbreaker H7s. Will replace the upper beam H1s as well.
  18. Well, gave in to the light bulb fetish that Autolankans are going through these days and bought two H7 nightbreakers. Apologies guys, wasn't really patient enough to wait and take before/after pics. Buy boy, do they work! The headlights threw out light marginally better than a proper 3 piece torch. I guess the model is known for bad headlights anyway. But the nightbreakers did the trick. Been driving at night a lot these days and there's a marked difference. Planning on replacing the main beams as well. Hopefully, before/after pics then.
  19. I'm not judging you. Just didn't like a fellow petrolhead beginning to sound like a typical car buyer. As for depreciation, well, it's been discussed here enough and more times. You should already know how that works. I've come to realise that buying the cars that we buy requires a certain lunacy that the typical car buyer "don't get". At times, I'm thankful to the guys who think the world of the cars with the winker mirrors, push button start and touch A/C. They tend to leave alone the interesting cars we adore.
  20. Guess that was the case. I saw road construction in front of Sethsiripaya last night around midnight. Didn't look like it was going to end in 7 hours. Add to that, the traffic from IDH is diverted to Koswatte creating unimaginable chaos. Had to spend 3 hours Monday last week to get from Koswatte to Colombo 05. I came to work via Udahamulla, Jubilee Post today. Talk about a detour. Road_lk seems to be the most reliable and the most updated one out of all. They have a carpooling mechanism if anyone is interested to use it.
  21. Oh well, you're beginning to sound like people from that Panda club. There are reasons why cars like the the Mark II, the Cefiro, the Magna and even the Galant doesn't have an 'appreciating' market. Sri Lankan people don't understand cars with large engines. They think that these cars are heavy on fuel consumption, maintenance, etc. For some part, this is just perception, hearsay and beliefs without real facts to back them. Why the Sri Lankans shy away from critical thinking is sometimes astounding. For example, the Galant, at least the manual version, have a better fuel economy than a Nissan March 1000cc, automatic transmission car. I guess I don't have to point out which is the more enjoyable one out of that two. Sri Lankan car value perception is convoluted. Toyotas are valued more, even of the car in question was used as a Taxi. The commonly known 121, Priuses, even some Axios are common examples. Just think of the number of people you know who'd gladly auction their left testie so that they can buy a Toyota and thrash it since it's a Toyota and tell you that they can sell it off in a heartbeat since it's a Toyota? You drive a Nissan Presea, it has it's own perceptions about it. I drive a Mitsu, same case. Someone bought the car to satisfy his/her needs. We bought our cars to satisfy ours. The cars had depreciated enough by the time we bought it. So we paid whatever we had to and that was that. The bottom line of all this? Well, as a petrolhead, I don't think what matters to me, at least, is not the monetary value of the car I drive. it's about how I perceive what the car adds to my life. It's the small idiosyncrasies of the car that only I understand. it's the moments that I turn back and smile at myself when I leave car at a car park. It's the times when I leave my Kottu at Pilawoos half way through because I'm worried about my car since I saw someone leaving the joint with squealing tires. it's the reminiscing I do of the good times I had in my car when I hit that empty stretch on the Parliament road once in a while. Monetary value of all this? Well, for the most part, it's just how much the next buyer is willing to pay for my car. Am I worried about it? Absolutely not. I didn't auction my left testie to buy my car. I don't expect the next guy to auction his testie either.
  22. Is it only me or does this description sound quite like nice, quality porn? I can imagine Davy flying around with a stupid smile on his face. Cheers mate. You deserve every second of fun in that machine.
  23. Apparently, it's a JDM MIni? Saw this on Carthrottle
  24. Hey davy, congrats on the new ride. Another one for the Mitsu club. Happy for you mate. She looks absolutely gorgeous. Looks to be in stock state. I already started imagining her in black shoes.
