  1. Nice to know that the car is doing well. I'm not sure if this particular model has a hydraulic clutch or a cable-operated clutch. But if it's cable-operated, the gear grinding could be because the cable needs adjustment. This is a simple fix. Does the clutch engage/disengage too close to the floor board?
  2. Yes true, but then there is the Nexus 5 too. Thanks! Yeah, I'm biased towards the Nexus line too. The stock Android opens up a whole new set of possibilities. The astronomical price tag is the only concern. If it was compatible with other phones of the range (except Apples of course), then I'd go for the Nexus 6 in a flash. Thanks! Support for Cynagenmod is actually a concern I had. I reads somewhere that Google tried to aquire Cynagenmod but the company refused, so I'm guessing they have a well sought after plan for their updates and next releases. Last time I checked, the price was set at 799 USD for the 64GB version. By the way, I saw that the OnePlus One's dual loudspeakers being called "stereo speakers" on many unboxings and reviews on YouTube whereas GSMArena says it's mono. The OnePlus One site doesn't have details on this. Still wondering what's up with that. I have seen the OnePlus One personally and felt in love with it immediately upon seeing it. The build quality is great, the layout is an absolute joy to work with. Still can't make up my mind. I think I'd better wait until mid November or so to get a better feel of the Nexus 6.
  3. Listen, I asked you politely to quit cluttering the forum without reporting your scattered threads (related to the same thing - maintaining hybrids) to the moderators and site administrators. Keeping the forum organized is everyone's responsibility; one doesn't need to be the "owner" of the forum to advice another member to do the right thing on behalf of everyone's interest. So of course I'm bothered about it. If you have to call people names when you are given advice, then I'm going to leave this to the moderators and let them clean up the mess you have made.
  4. Reviving this thread to ask a question to which the answer may seem obvious. The Nexus 6 vs the OnePlus One. What do you guys think? http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6604&idPhone2=6327 While the Nexus 6 features stock Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with a whopping price tag of 799 USD, it seems like going for the OnePlus One with pretty much the same spec (yet with Android 4.4 + Cyanogenmod) is the sanest choice for a fraction of the price.
  5. Joins the forum on the 23rd September 2014, opens 11 redundant threads to date. OP, Can you stop opening new threads each time something pops up into your head and search the forum instead? Or just open a thread titled "Help with my hybrid car" and ask all your questions in that.
  6. My opinion on why we boil so much blood behind the wheel on Sri Lankan roads can be narrowed down to a few basic reasons: 1. Lenient process when issuing driver's licenses This is the where everything begins and allowing illiterate as well as incapable drivers on the road means that the overall driving quality is deteriorated. The way in which the RMV handles the issuance of driver's licenses is not appropriate for today. It may have been appropriate back in the day, but not anymore. Take the exam for example, the questions are already out there and anyone can memorize the answers and pass it. Same goes for the trial, 10 minutes of driving and the examiners are capable of deciding if one is suitable to drive on the road. Of course now a permit is issued as opposed to how it was, but still people have their way of passing the trials with poor performance. A trial should cover many driving conditions like driving in traffic, on a highway, at traffic lights, at roundabouts and so on. In Sri Lanka, everyone in Colombo is taken on the Piliyandala - Kesbewa road which is not the ideal environment for a trial IMO. Applicants should be subjected to a more rigorous process so that they stand a chance of passing only if they perform at an acceptable level. 2. Illiterate drivers As a result of the above point, we have illiterate drivers. Drivers who don't know what a junction box is from a pedestrian crossing. Drivers who don't know what a "give way line" is. Drivers who don't know that amber means "stop safely" and not "hurry up!, I'm gonna turn red now". Did you guys know that even a person who cannot read/write can obtain a driver's license in our country? They are submitted to an oral interview and asked what some random road signs mean. Imagine how they will read signs like "KEEP LEFT" or "වමෙන් ධාවනය කරන්න" or the more complex signs on expressways. One other thing that comes to mind is the outdated highway code. That book must be at least 20 years old. It doesn't even have rules about how people should conduct themselves on express-ways, despite the country having two expressways at the moment. They surely should make frequent updates so that people are aware of the changing and emerging road rules. This is obviously not the fault of motorists - the RMV and traffic police should know better. 3. Bad road infrastructure This is self explanatory I guess. The road infrastructure has improved drastically compared to how it was, but it definitely needs more improvement. 4. Unequal rights on the road We know that politicians and other privileged people have no regard for road rules. Similarly, pedestrians and motorists have equal rights on the road although sometimes people try to avoid stopping at pedestrian crossings despite many people waiting to cross. 5. Corrupt/partial traffic police Need I say more? People learn from mistakes and if one is not corrected and made accountable when mistakes are made, obviously the overall quality of driving will just remain either the same or even worse.
  7. You should be able to find the tubing at Delkanda, Panchikawatte or at Places like Euron!ppon. Don't expect to find the exact kit, just find a set of pipes and do alterations so that it fits your car. Alternative: Aquarium air tubes. Available at any pet store that sells aquarium equipment. Used on one of my previous cars and lasted until I sold the car. Buy the variant that has a thick wall. The cheap ones tend to heat up and get warped resulting in blocking the water flow to the windshield.
  8. Yes, it does. Available at the same place above. They also have satin black (matt black) spray cans which you will also need to paint the wiper arms. Did mine once and came out nicely: Using plastic primer is shared in this post for OP's information.
  9. TOA cans can be found at R0xy P@int Centr3, Wellawatte (Opposite Roxy Cinema, Galle Road). I Think L!nk Enterprises near Jubilee Post (Nugegoda) also had 'em.
  10. 1. You are quoting figures from a post made in 2008 2. The figure 2500 is given for a full vehicle inspection and not a tune-up.
  11. Wish you a very happy birthday iRage! Have a good one!
  12. Woah.... Heard rumours about this, but didn't think they were true.
  13. Then your best bet is to get a tune-up done. (Injector cleanup, throttle body cleanup, spark plug replacement, air filter replacement/cleanup followed by a diagnostic scan). Post the outcome of the tune-up here once you get it done.
  14. When was the last engine tuneup done? If done recently, what components were replaced (spark plugs for example) during the process?
  15. A brake bind occurs when air trapped inside the brake system expand as the brake system heats up. As a result of the expanding air, the brake pads/shoes are pushed towards the rotor/drum thus producing friction among the two surfaces. This produces heat. It's like driving while keeping your foot on the brake pedal the whole time. The front brakes heat up quite a bit, especially on a front wheel driven vehicle and even more on a front wheel driven automatic. To determine if your brakes are actually binding, you can do the following test. - Drive the car about until you feel like the brakes are starting to bind - Jack up one of the front wheels - Making sure that the handbrake is in place, put the car into neutral - Try spinning the front wheel by hand - Repeat with other front wheel If you could spin the wheel normally, then your brakes are probably okay. If the wheel refuses to spin and seems to be locked in place, your brakes are binding. There are other reasons for the wheels to lock up besides a brake bind caused by air bubbles in the brake lines. A stuck brake caliper also might be an issue.
  16. It's normal for the front brakes to heat up than the rear I guess, but not beyond a certain point. And according to the symptoms that you have described (car slowing down quickly when accelerator is released), it does sound like there is a slight brake bind. - Was a brake repair done recently? - How's the condition (and level) of your brake oil? - Substandard brake shoes have a tendency to get stuck within the caliper although this is very rare. How are the brake shoes? If everything above is normal, bleed your brake system and top up with new oil. Air trapped inside the brake system can cause brakes to bind.
  17. Sounds like a sticky Idle Air Control Valve as GayanR stated. Before replacing the ICV, get a tune up done so that the throttle body and ICV are cleaned in the process. If the ICV is sticky, this should solve your problem. If the issue persists after the tuneup, you may have to replace the ICV.
  18. Right back at you. Read it... go ahead, here it is: Tell me you used the word "only" by mistake then? At least have the humility to accept when you're being corrected. I'd like to stop commenting on this from here and let the others go ahead with the actual discussion.
  19. Sorry for taking this thread OT, but several wrong points need to be corrected here. Shows how little you know about modern cars and safety. First of all, the strength of the body of older cars was actually a problem (sometimes fatal). Since the body was rigid, the car would come to a stop rapidly upon collision, resulting in a massive G-force which maybe fatal to the occupants. Modern cars are designed in such a way that there are crumple zones around the body that would absorb the shock of the rapidly decelerating car without transmitting it to the passengers. Old cars had little or no crumple zones. So, not only airbags, seatbelts and headrests prevent damage... crumple zones play an important role. Plus, features like ABS, Traction Control and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) are preventive measures taken to increase safety of vehicles when compared to older ones. There are more and more safety features in newer cars that cannot even be compared to cars of the past.
  20. similarnames, I have a concern about the way the steering rack is mounted. From what I see in the very last photo, it looks like the steering rack is mounted on to two metal plates which are welded on to the front cross member. If this is correct, I doubt those tiny metal plates will be able to sustain the strain on the steering rack when the car is steered left and right. The rack is supposed to be directly bolted on to the cross member which is rigid. That is the ideal setup IMO although I understand that there is a space issue here due to the larger engine. Also, it looks like the universal joint was welded on to the prop shaft? Getting the prop shaft balanced properly is a must after a modification like this, even the slightest misalignment will cause the car to vibrate (especially at high speeds). I'm not sure if there are places in SL that does prop shaft balancing, but this what I'm talking about:

    Fuel Efficiency

dasunh, Welcome to the forum. We already have a fuel efficiency thread with the exact format: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/736-fuel-efficiency/ Having a Mitsubishi dedicated thread is pointless IMO because we can always search for the vehicle in our existing thread.
  22. Can't believe I forgot Tintin! Here you go trinity: Kimba The White Lion
  23. Okay so after a brief discussion about cartoon themes on the Mega Movies thread, I started watching my favourite cartoon theme songs on YouTube (this is not the first time). Just wanted to post a few here. Let me know if you guys enjoyed these too. And of course if I have left something out. I've listed only the cartoons that were on TV in Sri Lanka back in the 80s and 90s. The ones in orange are the ones my sister forced me to watch. I'll go alphabetically... Babar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LUHCa_jnHE Blinky Bill Bobby's World Bucky 'O Hare Bump In The Night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEaC8qjV30c Captain Planet Care Bears Comic Strip Dennis The Menace http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mggY1HzH8zE Dinosaucers Ewoks Flintstones, The G. I. Joe Ghost Busters He-Man Kissyfur Little Wizards (I cant seem to find the English intro for this) M.A.S.K Mask Merry Melodies & Loony Tunes (Bugs Bunny, Donald, Tom & Jerry, Sylvester and so many other cartoons) Mrs. Pepperpot Pingu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vHoUBmat14 Punky Brewster Reboot (This is the first 3D animated show I've watched) Road Runner Rugrats Saber Rider (And The Star Sheriffs) Scooby Doo She-Ra Silver Hawks Smurfs, The http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU2Jkc1cHrE Sonic The Hedgehog Speed Racer (The New Adventures of Speed Racer) Teen Wolf Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ThunderCats Transformers Voltron Wish Kid White Fang (The Legend of White Fang) X-Men This is all that comes to mind right now... For some reason, only the top two links are displayed as embedded videos in the post. Maybe it's a forum limitation per post.
  24. Yeah. Some cartoon theme songs are pretty cool still. Even the Ninja Turtles movie (the new one) should have had the theme song from the cartoon. I got goosebumps at 0:45 when the theme song starts!
  25. Watched Transformers : Age of Extinction a few days back (I missed watching it in the cinema ), and it was way better than Dark of the Moon. Felt that Mark Whalberg is much better suited for the main character than Shia Labeouf. Miss some of the old characters like Tyrese Gibson though.
