  1. Water wouldn't leak into the lights if you're careful. Besides, you can seal the gap between the lens and the housing with some silicone if you really want to make sure.
  2. I can only imagine! How can one not love such a beautiful car... Andénawa!
  3. Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I heard on the news that new speed limits are to be introduced... islandwide. More info here: http://www.colombopage.com/archive_13A/Jan25_1359131767KA.php
  4. Oh maaan, that Datsun! WoW!!
  5. Good one!
  6. I actually haven't had the chance to get hold of the book... yet. By the way, HUGE fan of "The Walking Dead" here. The best zombie related production ever IMO.
  7. Welcome to the forum! Try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_radio_networks_in_Sri_Lanka Hint: Sort the table by the frequency column so that it will be easier to identify if there are gaps between the frequencies.
  8. I still think that a carb expert could bring yours into proper order. Waiting for your photos to confirm my judgement.
  9. Thanks mate! Yeah I agree that I should have left the fender mirrors on. This was my daily runner back then, so convenience kind of played a dominant role as well.
  10. Old movie, but this is one of my favourites of all time: For those of you who haven't watched this, I think describing this movie in words would result in me spoiling the whole thing for you. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman in all thir glory... A story about a man who is sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. I think I've watched this more than six times, can watch it again, no doubt. Edit: By the way MD, thanks for starting this. This definitely is gonna be one great thread!
  11. Watched this, liked the original Judge Dredd movie way better than this.
  12. Welcome to the forum. First of all, what do you mean when you say that it got "rotted"?. Isn't there any chance of getting it to work? It's pretty normal for a carburetor that is over 30 years old to have problems (believe me, mine had many). So let us know what's up with your existing carburetor because we have some A72 carburetor experts on the forum that might be able to help you out. Next, I think you're lucky to have found at least 2 of them at Panchikawatta, but remember that those carbs also are from cars that have been used, so we cannot guarantee that they are 100% perfect. I'd advise you to settle for a carb from Panchikawatta only as a last resort. The prices are so high because they're very rare as you may have already figured out, so I think 15,000 to get your car running again is a good investment. If you went through this thread, you would have read that I also sourced all my reconditioned parts (steering box, front disks, door handles and what not) from Panchikawatta and no other place. So Panchikawatta is the best bet you have in my opinion. Other than that, there are a few other places in Wadduwa and Minuwangoda which I can try to find contacts for you. We have other Lancer A72 owners on the forum (LancerL, Carboy2011, mensoft, rameez etc.) that might be able to help you as well.
  13. http://www.motortraffic.gov.lk/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=116&Itemid=142〈=en Edit: Yes, it is possible to get it done within one day. Check this thread out: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/7345-driving-license-fading/page-4
  14. Tyre shine works equally well on all (black) plastic trims. I usually apply a little on the mud flaps to give them a shine. The only down side to this method is that it needs to be repeated every now and then because this stuff is washable. Schiffer, what on earth did your painter do to make those beadings so "white"? Quite a change after the simple (and cheap) remedy though, good stuff! By the way, shouldn't this thread be in the DIY section?
  15. Dexron III is backward compatible with Dexron II, so you should be OK using Dexron III.
  16. Aww. Thanks for the comments guys. I myself can't wait until I see the headlights fixed on the car.
  17. I remember sharing this on another thread as well. Probably the car catalogs and brochures thread. This is from a Mitsubishi magazine during the 1980s. For larger images: Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Lancer EX 1 Page Brochure
  18. The tail lights are looking good! Well done!
  19. Damn, what a beauty...
  20. You're not the only one on this machang, when my car was at the painter, I visited the garage everyday as if I'm going to hospitial to visit a patient and I used to go around the car to look for any imperfections. I had them repaint the bonnet, the bumpers and the rear left door again because I didn't think it was perfect. The guy who re-assembled the car had a little chat with me during the last couple of days and told me that the mechs and the painters used to say "Onna adath enawa, ada mokak paththu karai da danne na..." when I walk into the place. . No one else will care for your car baby more than you do. So keep doing what you're doing.
  21. If you want to DIY, this is for you: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/11767-diy-dent-removal. I've tried this on one of my cars and it works... Plus I've sent you a PM on another place that I'm aware of. Check your inbox.
  22. You’ll have zero problems as long as you do your routine maintenance on time. We’re talking about cars that have been beaten up for over 10 years on Sri Lankan roads, so you will have to take care of some wear and tear unless the car was just lying around during most of its time. I guess this is true for any vehicle of that age. As for availability of spares, it’s the same story as the CS1 – you won’t have a problem. Exterior spares such as body panels and stuff can be sourced from Delkanda, Eur0nipp0n and places like that while I have been able to find all the mechanical parts I needed so far. Plus you can always go to UniMo, and they’re sure to have what you’re looking for. If you’re worried about reliability, From my experience, the car has never let me down. (Touch wood ) 4 years and counting…
  23. Happy belated birthday MADZ! All the best and keep up the awesome work you're doing to keep the forum running.
  24. I'm not sure if this applied to all vehicles in general, but my engine workshop manual specifically says this:
