According to the link SamG has shared, the OP has solved the issue by stepping on the brake pedal so that ABS is activated. Doing this several times apparently has solved his issue. I'm surprised that Mazda has not done anything about what seems to be a common issue.

Toyota Corolla Thel Higana Edition (Or My Take On An Axio Hybrid)
Davy replied to terrabytetango's topic in TOYOTA
Nice to see all these first hand reviews on the forum. Love reading 'em! The steering being super light was also seen from the 141 Corolla if I'm not mistaken. The first time I drove one (maybe in 2011 or so), I was truly surprised of how light that steering was. I personally like to feel the road through the steering a bit though. -
Welcome to the forum! If it's Jayadan at Wattala, that place is supposed to be top notch from what I have heard. Back in 2003 or so, a place in between Seeduwa and Kotugoda quoted 8000 per bumper. Ended up buffing them myself because I only had a few scratches and a slight dent in one that I managed to straighten out. I have seen another place between Maradana and Maligawatte on that road where all the motorbike parts are (Jayantha Weerasekara Mawatha?). Not sure if they are still open. I doubt prices will be any different from the Wattala place though. If you still find it to be unaffordable, then you can try getting the bumpers painted in silver and polished. I know that it's not like having a pair of shiny chrome bumpers, but it's something. One of my uncles restored his KE20 on a budget and did the same and it looked pretty okay. Or you can go bumper-less as terra said. Share some pictures of your car mate. I'm sure others would like to see your restoration too.

I changed from the stock 12" rims to 13" alloys when I restored my Lancer wagon over 10 years ago. I cannot remember the exact tyre size that I went for, but I think it was 185/65R13 after finding out the minimal change in diameter when compared to the 12" rims. Although the width of the tyre was significantly increased (from 155 to 185), I had no issues. You can safely change the rim size without affecting the speed o' meter reading. In fact, the 5 speed Lancer SL sedan came with 13 inch rims from the factory.

Only local stuff on this thread mate. Use Post Whoring for everything else.

Orugodawatta is the main workshop complex and all repairs are carried out there (including body repairs and stuff as well) whereas Hyde Park does most repairs (I remember seeing a list of what each branch does - maybe on their website). If I were to pick one out of them, I would definitely pick Orugodawatta because of the following reasons: - Spacious environment - Separate service area - Higher probability of parts availability due to the massive storage facility - The vehicles are tested within the premises whereas they are tested on public roads at Hyde Park Corner - Generally the good experience I have had at Orugodawatta EDIT: Found the link: http://www.unitedmotors.lk/provided-services

Noticed the same. Probably because the EPS is not yet hooked up.

Because unregistered cars are too mainstream... Source: Facebook

I asked my mother and she barely remembers the process, but she said that there was a "Change of Particulars" form that can be obtained from DMT. It has to be handed over with the original registration document and the current owner's NIC copy. I'm not 100% sure if that is all that's needed. EDIT: Looks like it's form CMT 72. Got it from here.

1. Rear doors cannot be opened from inside Common issue in the CS Lancer. Faced this myself on separate occasions on my CS3. This might be your issue as well. Basically the door lock actuators have a metal linkage connected to it and this tends to corrode and either get stuck or completely snap in half - disconnecting the linkage from inside the car. I have explained it previously here. You need to remove the door cards and inspect the actuator linkage and check if it is stuck or broken. If it is broken, you have to weld it together or get a new part fabricated. Should be an easy job. 2. Out of four speakers only 2 is working (rear) Check if the fader is set to the rear speakers in the head unit. Once you have verified that, and if the issue is not resolved, you can first take off the front door cards (here's how) and check if the speakers are working and if they are getting the signal. If the speakers are okay and if they are not receiving current, then you will have to show this to a car audio place or an electrician. 3. Power Mirrors are not functioning First check if a fuse is blown. If not, it might be because the mirror mechanism is stuck (this is most probably my guess). Set the mirror L\R switch to to R and press the LEFT button while gently pressing the left side of the mirror with your finger to give the motor some assistance. If the mechanism is stuck, this could allow the motor to slowly start moving the mirror. If this happens, then get your side mirrors serviced. This can be due to other reasons as well, such as an issue in the mirror control panel. 4. Mudguards should be replaced I hope you mean mud flaps. If you want the original ones, you can try UniMo. Mind you they will be expensive, but they'll be a direct fit for the car. You can find ones in Darley Road shops as well, but I doubt you will be able to find good ones that fit the car perfectly. What is wrong with the ones on the car right now? Outer border cracked? As for places, I think the lock and mirror issue (and probably the speaker issue) should be able to be addressed from one place. Apparently there is a guy named Saman in Dehiwala who is good (check this thread).

Right. Thanks. Yeah, I can see the pics now.

Yeah it was a KDH and I drove it here in Australia. Maybe 5L then, because I definitely do remember it not having a turbo. It was a hired van by a friend, so I couldn't pay much attention to the engine. Does the passenger version of the KDH come with different suspension when compared to the regular DX version?

I see. That's good to know. Saw a documentary on the safety of the Smart a few months ago and it sure is pretty good being the small car it is. Someone please take my turn, on the road at the moment.

Some of your image links are broken Magnum. Well at least I can't see them. Drove a Hiace last year from Melbourne to Sydney (well, close to) with 2 friends to get a chassis + engine for an Austin 7. The whole journey was about 1800km and we did the round trip in under 24 hours. I drove just over 1000km with a few stops. Being a basic delivery type van, it was still pretty alright. The guy who sat in the front middle seat had a really bad time due to the uncomfortable seating position. We took turns taking the other full sized front passenger seat to avoid giving one guy a back pain or something. This one was a 2.7L Petrol. Most of the roads that I drove on had a speed limit of either 100km/h or 110 km/h. The roads were a bit rough when we entered the deserted areas on the way and we had to keep the speed down to about 70 or 80 because the ride was uncomfortable and really noisy. The speed limit on those roads was 110 as well. Felt really lucky that we went slow cause I hit a kangaroo who suddenly appeared out of nowhere and made it across the road just a few feet away from the van. Heard a loud thud and it was it's tail that came into contact with the van's front bumper. Both the van and kangaroo were fine. Drove another Hiace towards the begining of this year and did a trip of about 700km and that was a van with full seats and dual AC. It didn't have body coloured bumpers though. There were 7 people in the van + luggage and this is when I felt that the van was a bit underpowered. This was a 3.0L Diesel NA.

A Smart? Do we have this in Sri Lanka?

They actually do have a process Rumesh. My CS3 was registered under my mother's name and she got it changed to our new address after we moved. This was done a couple of years back, so I don't remember the exact process. I will ask her and get back to you on this.

Priority Order Of The Factors To Be Consider
Davy replied to DELO 5's question in Car Buying Information
Before opening new threads, please search the forum. There is already a lot of information about buying a car. The following thread for example: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/3430-how-to-buy-a-used-car-in-sri-lanka/ -
Right. Since the plugs are new, it can still be an issue with the ignition or fuel system. Black carbon deposits on the plug is mostly due to a rich air fuel mixture. It can be due to a weak ignition current as well. Since you have switched injectors, you can now determine if its a problem with one of them. If they seem to be fine (same plug failing again), you can try switching the coil packs to see if a different plug starts showing same symptoms.

Nicely done LancerL! Although this method may not clean the injectors as thoroughly as it would compared to professional methods, this is a good way to quickly clean the injectors to get rid of obvious blocks. I guess you felt that the drive is much smoother because the injectors were cleaned considerably well. Some important things to remember: - Not all injectors are 12v. Some operate at a much lower voltage, so supplying 12v would fry them. - Always keep the carb cleaner flowing into the injector to prevent it from "starving".
