  1. Yes, this matches the CS3 but mine did not work on my car although the device was transmitting a signal. The software was trying different communication protocols but failed to receive the data from the car's ECU. Not sure if things are different in Lancers after 2001 (mine is a 2001 CS3A). The 16 pin port is the OBD port which is universal and can be used with any scanner that supports the OBD protocol. I believe the other socket is for Mitsubishi specific diagnostic units. On the workshop manuals, I have seen the port being used by a diagnostic unit named "MTU-II" Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
  2. Already discussed. Already done by many members on their CS Lancers. Go through the thread below. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/9980-speedometer-modification/
  3. Got one off eBay (model ELM327) and tried it with my phone through an app called Torque. I was unable to connect to the car's ECU although it kept trying for minutes and minutes and failing. Didn't get the chance to check with a PC. Check this thread out for more info: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/14674-diy-scan-your-own-car/ Edit: The diagnostic port on the CS3 is a 16 pin OBD II port and it's located right underneath the dash. 7 'o clock from the steering wheel.
  4. Not sure if this is legit but I got this through mail (had to remove the advert parts below to make this postable on the forum). Note the price below (Rs 30 million). Edit: Looks like the image is a direct copy from another advert. (posted on the SL benz site). So this might be fake.
  5. I was at this EXACT place on the EXACT same date. I arrived at about 11:30am. Came for a friend's wedding.
  6. There is a JDM Lancer CS with a multi info display where the AC, audio player, and other stuff such as fuel consumption figures are displayed on it. The dashboard layout is much different in that than the Lancers we usually find here. I have seen one or two of these types of Lancers here. This is it: This is what it looks like (image too large to insert to the post here). The CS5 touring version did come with a double din slot and with an automatic AC which is located at the centre lower part of the dash. Too bad we don't get many of these here.
  7. Well, I can tell you that the AC relocation bezel I have shared above is a one off thing. It's not made anywhere else, so you definitely won't find it on eBay or in any store for that matter. And no again for the possibility of finding a duplicate set of panels for below 5000. Let me break it down: Double din bezel - Part number MR626796 : About 5000* LKR AC bezel (to be cut) - Part number MN151265HA: About 9000* LKR Lower bezel (to move the AC controls) - Part number MR559023 : About 2000* LKR (Prices are from japanparts.com and partsouq.com) You might be able to find the AC bezel for much cheaper at Delkanda or at a recon auto spare parts shop like Euron!ppon or US @uto P@rts. The AC relocation kit made by the guy above (Cyanide Customs) is much cleaner than actually cutting the AC bezel and putting it inside the lower 1 din bezel. The guy actually uses bondo to mould the bezel and repaints it to give the factory look. Hence the high price tag. The process involves a lot of labour, so you'll have to add a few extra thousand bucks for the paint, bondo etc. I was always wondering if our good old Dum!nda or M@cvud would be able to do a clean job. They just might be able to. *Brand new parts without shipping costs
  8. The double din conversion on the CS is something I've been looking into ever since I got my car. It's been 5 years and I still have not found an acceptable or reasonably priced solution. I have gone through the link you've shared many times in the past but I really am not too comfortable about cutting and chopping the dash apart just to get this to work. The closest I have come is this particular guy who supplies hand made AC relocation kits which he sells at a an exorbitant price (for a piece of plastic). The AC relocation bezel alone costs about 26,000LKR last time I checked and this is excluding the double din bezel that accomodates the DVD/Navigation unit. If you're interested, the link is below: http://www.prtc.net/~cjramos54/index.html The above guy had a high demand for the bezel (despite the price) and he had stopped production for a while and restarted only on November 2013. He had a nice set of photos on his site about how he does this (under the process link), but they are no more now. I hope it will be available again soon. The double din bezel is available at japanparts.com (search for part number 180-042-001). Costs just over 5000LKR without shipping. If you're okay with the price, this is the way to go.Google for "Lancer AC relocation kit" for more information. By the way, were you thinking doing this yourself?
  9. I hope the rider ended up in one piece.
  10. Right, so here's another prison movie I actually loved. Watched this twice back in the day and I certainly can watch it again. Superb story about a man who does not believe that his wife committed murder just because the evidence says so. And about his promise to her. One of the movies where you find yourself on the edge of the seat during the entire second half of it. "The Next Three Days" (2010) Russel Crowe and Elizabeth Bank:
  11. Okay so I have to admit that I'm a sucker for prison movies. My favourite being Shawshank Redemption, I used to dig for prison movies and I think I liked pretty much all of the ones I've watched. This one "Law Abiding Citizen" is something I watched recently (No idea how I missed it, this being a movie from 2009). Most prison movies are about escaping or making your way through prison being the new "fish", this is quite different from them. Enjoy! Law Abiding Citizen (2009) starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler:
  12. Watched "Escape Plan" (2013) last night. Stallone and Schwarzeneggar. It was a pretty good movie with a lot of surprises and action. Worth a watch.
  13. I'm not sure about the quality of work at Mr. P@int, but I do know that they try every bit to rip you off. Had some personal experience with them where they had this 50% off deal (where they actually reduce the first 50K of the job) through a popular local deal site and I was lucky enough not to purchase the voucher before going to get a quotation. My initial estimate was 130,000 (which means that it comes to 80,000 if I have the voucher) and when I revealed that I am hoping to get the car painted with the use of the voucher, they were cunning enough to send me a quotation for 180,000. (Long story short.) After some arguments with the management, I gave them the finger and made sure that the deal was taken off the site as well by making a complaint.
  14. Good luck with the purchase Bracket! Hope you enjoy every bit of the car. Read the owner's manual from A to Z, you're sure to find answers to many questions such as which type of fuel to use and what grade of engine oil to use and so on (not that you'll be needing most of them immediately since the agent will be doing the first few services, but it's good to know these things beforehand).
  15. Sniff Sniff.... aah I can feel the "new car smell" just by looking at those two photos.
  16. Can you check the possibility of connecting a smaller tube to a vacuum cleaner and inserting it into the assembly? You might be able to pull the insects out without having to separate the housing from the lens.
  17. Check this out too: http://www.new-lancer.com/gene/en/specifications/index.php?PHPSESSID=43c671352f88f691eaace7283e3618bd The permit scheme might give you the option of altering certain specs, so I wouldn't trust the online references too much. Just check with the agent and they should have a clearer answer. This was the case when they imported the CS series for permit holders. With all the features of the GLS, it seems like the best deal to go for IMO. By the way, what's with the black rear view mirrors? Isn't having colour keyed mirrors the trend nowadays?
  18. In the text editor toolbar, locate the tool labeled "Image". Click it and paste the image URL in the pop up dialog.
  19. Not surprised. Was in the hunt for a spoiler for my car when I got to know a thing or two about prices at the agent. A personal importer told me that the new Montero bodykit costs close to 1 million at the agent and that he sells it for 6 lakhs. The same guy had Lancer EX and Evo X spoilers (OEM) for just 15,000 or so. There are certain things that you can avoid buying from the agent.
  20. Been following the thread closely but didn't comment because I am highly biased towards the Lancer EX when it's compared with other candidates of the same category. All of the issues mentioned by kush were covered under warranty. Since these are known issues in the model back then, I doubt the manufacturer just ignored them over doing the needful to ensure that they don't exist in the newer models. Just my 2 cents. On the topic of Galant Fortis, there is a Lancer EX GT and it has a 2.0L engine with pretty much the same bells and whistles that the Fortis has to offer. I have seen one or two on the roads here but I am not sure if the agent brings it down. I've seen a couple of Fortis' around as well.
  21. So the indicator is not the ABS? What does it look like? Check this out to see if you can identify the indicator.
  22. Yeah, saw that myself but not sure why it's missing. I'm pretty sure there is a valid reason for it.
  23. Here's the Nissan B122 I was talking about... Edit: Some stuff I noticed and got to know were that the engine was ported and performance tuned. It has a performance exhaust with a great exhaust note! An aftermarket AC has also been installed. Has an in-dash 7 inch touch screen DVD player and a security system (not sure if it has central locking though).
  24. That thing looks brand new! I came across this gray Nissan B122 truck (single cab) when I was at the garage recently. And it was restored to perfection! Will share a few pics when I get home today.
  25. Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year! Drive safe!
