  1. Ah... what a way to start the week. The news of another restoration. There are a few Peugeot experts on the forum like harshan, and I'm sure they can guide you with the mechanicals and about sourcing spares. As for tinkering and painting, it'll be a challenge finding a perfectionist which is whom you're looking for, but I'm sure someone on the forum can help you on that too. If the trims don't have any dents or corrosion, then you can get them chrome plated. If any one of them have decayed, you might have to get the tinker to turn them out or maybe try a salvage yard to find one. I'm not sure about their availability online. Since you are thinking of a complete restoration, start with the body and chassis restoration first... then move on to the engine, powertrain and the interior at the very end. All the very best with the restoration! Please keep the thread updated.
  2. Can't see the pic...
  3. Oh man, that car must have been suffocating inside that bodykit. Glad it has been taken out to reveal the beautiful Capri underneath. Even more glad that the car has found a good home. Best of luck on the restoration Hoonigan! Please keep the forum updated.
  4. I assume you mean "resurfacing" when you said "finishing" and no, you don't have to resurface the rotors if they are not warped or if the surfaces are not damaged. Resurfacing actually takes a thin layer off the rotor to make the surface even, so it should be left as a last resort in my opinion. Your mechanic must have insisted on getting them resurfaced because they've gone bad (rust/chippped/groved).
  5. Damn, cool! I'm assuming that the existing hydraulics will have to be tapped onto to get this baby working, right?
  6. Remembered that Sampath shared some photos on this... here you go, the "spilling battery problem" http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13336-viva-elite-community/page-4#entry240061
  7. If you're willing to spend a lot, you can get the bumpers chrome plated. Back when I was restoring mine in 2003, I checked with a couple of places and they quoted 8000 per bumper. Should be a lot more expensive now. Good luck with the restoration! Please share your story on the forum.
  8. The "no door handles" thing is very popular on Overhaulin'. They go all crazy with proximity sensors and all sorts of keyless entry systems on classics and they're pretty cool. Door handles totally shaved off. Edit: Here you go:
  9. Maan that Subaru Pearl Blue is eyewatering! Talking about stripping down the paint, Komi or anyone else aware of a place that does sand blasting in SL? I don't think we have 'em down here, do we?
  10. Too blurry, but that looks like the "Tyre pressure warning" indicator.
  11. WoW on the lights Komi! Kaa gahenawa, ammooo!!!
  12. That's one good looking motor. Well done Sumiya!
  13. +1 Crosswind. Unfortunately, most people these days are either too busy or lazy to wash their own cars, let alone do a DIY interior clean-up. Interior cleaning is good as long as you are using the correct cleaning products. Taking care of leather is much much different than fabric surfaces for exmple. Just buy what is required for your car, depending on the type of interior. Follow the instructions set by the manufacturer of the product and clean away. For fabric seats, I use a good foam cleaner. Just be as gentle as possible. For leather, frequent use of a conditioner will prevent the surfaces from cracking and losing it's texture.
  14. Should be changed as: "dye of cheap denim trousers" I guess.
  15. Better than the Aut0Visi0n episode. Less talk about headlights - more talk about the internals.
  16. Great plan Komi. I'm sure she'll end up looking one of the best 510s in SL. Looking forward to updates. Let me know if you need any help. By the way, those tail lights are simply jaw-dropping! Love 'em!! I believe we were discussing about the same kinda tail lights on another thread (Post Whoring as I remember) a few days ago.
  17. According to my understanding, what your mechanic has done is prevented the water from entering the heater inside your car. What this will result in is the heater of your AC not functioning. Not actually a problem for a country like Sri Lanka, but some still like to have every component of the car in working order. This doesn't affect your car's engine or performance. And I really don't see a reason for the temperature gauge to indicate higher than usual. Does the gauge fo beyond the ordinary level (half usually)?
  18. One of the common problems in the A72 rear brakes is that the hand brake adjusting mechanism wears out and that causes the brake pads to not adjust for optimum braking efficiency. The result is that you get a bit more pedal traversal than expected. Did your mechanic say anything about the hand brake mechanism being faulty? As Supra_Natural has said, just give it a bit more time and see... if your brake drums are worn out, it does take a bit of time for the liners to seat perfectly with the drum when the brakes are applied.
  19. This is exactly what I was thinking when I read the post.
  20. Got to agree with trinity. That's how I would have done it myself if I was in the situation. Mahinda has a shop in Panchi, his warehouse is at Kaduwela (Weliwita). I actually checked with him and he mentioned that he's got the stuff. Mind you his stuff is OEM reconditioned, they should be in pretty much the same condition as the ones you found at Delkanda. If you're lucky, you'll find one in good shape. Good luck!
  21. That's a Proton Perdana. I've seen a few of them here.
  22. Sorry I couldnt reply earlier, Just got home and laughed so hard at this post! LOL You wanted it Komi. There you go! lol That's the famous isso clip. It was popular back then because we didnt have all the online resources at the time it was leaked.
  23. Definitely not postable here, if you know what I mean. And it's not a scene from a tele drama (can be considered "behind the scenes" though. ).
  24. Now now Komi... don't tell me you have not seen her "video clip". It was popular a few years ago and this Isso scene is off that clip.
  25. Yeah, long time back. I did a search for Nissan UD, Mitsubishi Canter and Isuzu ELF trucks. Failed to find one. Something similar to what I was talking about. lol
