Thank you! 3. Have you seen other Sport grade Demios besides the one that I've provided the link to? 4. Yes, you maybe right. The goo-net Catalogs shared by iRage above actually has indications as to which options were provided for each model year and some of what you have listed are optional. Hopefully I'll find a fully loaded model with the aero bumpers like yours. I agree on the fact that most of the Demios are basic. I didn't actually know anything about the model before I decided to go for one. After looking around, reading up and going through ads I found out that the ones sold soon are the ones having fog lamps, the RPM meter and the double din player. All of the cars I came across that had multifunction steering did not have the double din screen. I didn't mind that because I found this and this online to address that. It connects to the multi-function steering as well (as per the specs). Since you're an actual owner of the car, any comments that you'd like to make about the car in general? I'm not worried about fuel consumption. I heard that the car handles really well compared to the Vitz and Swift. How's the space inside? And all round visibility? As for the new Demio, Col0nial Motors is bringing the export version (Mazda 2) down. You will see it on the streets soon I guess. http://www.mazdalanka.lk/mazda-21.html

WoW! Talk about a comprehensive answer! Thanks a lot iRage! Knew it was something good when I saw your name before opening the thread. So the white Demio was a 1.5 Sport! Should be a rare sight though! Too bad I missed it! I guess I can now carefully go through the options of each car and get to know the actual grade. Out of all these grades, I don't think I've seen one with the SkyActiv or the one 13C-V with CVT transmission. So, I will most probably go for a DE3 if another DE5 Sport doesn't pop up any time soon. It's difficult to find one (a DE3) that has all the bells and whistles though. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks again!

Hi Guys, Sorry for bumping up an ancient thread, thought this is the best place to ask my questions. I'm on the lookout for a hatch for my parents and I was considering a Demio DE3FS (2007 - 2014). After calling up the best couple of ads posted on the AL classifieds, I found out that all of them have been sold real quick. It does look like the model has a good market. I have a few questions since I'm overseas and don't really get to see how these machines are doing on Sri Lankan roads. Plus this will be the first Mazda I'll be buying. 1. The Demio DE series underwent a facelift in 2011 according to my research, but I could not find any facelift Demios advertised. Arn't any of them around yet? Pre-facelift (2007 - 2011): Facelift (2011 - 2014): Note the change in the grille, bumper, fog lights: 2. It looks like only the DE3FS (1.3L) is available locally (again, assumption made after going through online ads). Are there any DE5FS (1.5L) examples around? 3. The first Demio I called was a sport with tiptronic gears, red instrument cluster and a full bodykit with strut bars... off the factory. Unfortunately it was gone (this one). What are the chances of there being other Demios of this grade in the country? 4. Did an extensive search on trim levels and I found three for the Export model (Mazda 2) - Neo, Maxx and Genki. Neo being the basic and Genki being the fully loaded. But not for the JDM. And looking at the ads on the net, the options look very inconsistent. Does anyone know the actual trim levels of the JDM? Sorry these are very focussed questions. Many thanks!

Top Gear/fifth Gear/jeremy Clarkson Videos!

Saw this circulating around the Internet and it doesn't seem to be true (at least not yet). See: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/entertainment/news/a25278/no-jeremy-clarkson-hasnt-quit-top-gear-yet/ -
It's possible that the issue is actually not with the engine. The catalytic converter is part of your exhaust, and if it's clogged, even a brand new engine will not work as intended. Did you swap the engine only because of this issue? If so, it looks to me like your mechanic has taken you for a very expensive ride. If possible, take the car to a good workshop and get a diagnostic scan done. Explain your situation and ask them to test the fuel pressure (to rule out a failing fuel pump as MasterDon has suggested) and the Oxygen sensor values. If all is good, then you can try temporarily starting the car up while the catalytic converter is removed (not sure how feasible this is - all depends on how this model has the cat mounted to the exhaust pipe).

What's the car Jor-el? Lancer CS?

Welcome to the forum. Please stop bumping old and inactive threads. Thanks! Your claim about 99% of petrol engines not having timing belts is absolutely wrong.
-
Really? That just might be it then! Depends on the manufacturer specification for your car. What does the information card on the B pillar say? And are you running on the stock rim size and tyre size? I really doubt that 2 - 3PSI is going to give you significant ground clearance.

The lack of power within a specific range in the RPM can be due to a clogged catalytic converter as well. A misfiring engine can clog the catalytic converter and cause significant back pressure at certain RPM levels which results in the engine bogging down. The behaviour is very similar to what happens when the fuel pump is faulty. I believe you can check the operation of the cat through a diagnostic scan and reading the inputs from the Oxygen sensor while revving the engine. You can also take the catalytic converter off the car and visually inspect whether it is blocked.

As the others have already pointed out, your tyre pressure is way too high. It should be somewhere around 28 - 30. While you might be saving a few cents off fuel, you are wearing out the suspension of your car faster - that's a repair that will cost you far more than what you will be saving on fuel. Also, your tyres will wear out much faster. You might want to consider all that and inflate your tyres to the recommended pressure. It should be printed on and attached to the B pillar of your car - driver's side. As for the AC, I don't think I have the right to decide what's the right temperature for you, but I believe 30C is way beyond the comfort zone of an average human being. Plus, you might want to try and wrap your head around this to determine if you are really saving money on AC: If your AC is manual, and if you have your temperature dial set a bit towards the warm side from the "max cold" position, the AC is still working the exact same way to how it would work if you set the dial to "max cold". Most manual AC systems reduce the cold by activating the heater and mixing the hot and cold air so that the air reaches a "less cold" temperature. Again, this is on most manual AC systems and I believe it's the same case for you as well. If this is the case, your passengers (and you) are suffocating for no actual gain.

You can still use that thread to ask your "specific" question, because the answers you will get on a new thread (this one) will not be different from what you would get in the existing thread. We like to keep similar information together because it will help people like you search and find them much easily.

The second photo you've attached is from a company in Sri Lanka (Accolade). They do Evo bodykits (amongst others) and export them worldwide. Located in Ja-Ela. Check out their website. If I were you, I'd go for a factory spec bodykit for the Lancer as discussed here. But that's just me.

Welcome to the forum. Your question has been answered so many times. Follow the "How to search on AutoLanka" thread in the DIY section. If you have any new questions, ask in one of those threads. Thanks!

It's annoying to see this thread come to the top of the list every hour. I'm all for locking it up if that's possible.

Had a good laugh reading the chat. Yeah, good job trinity. You will be able to get rid of the dark spots if a bulb with 5 SMDs is used I guess (one SMD pointing at each direction).

I don't think a simple "Yes/No" answer can be given to this question. This obviously depends on the vehicle. Although the term "facelift" gives the idea of changes made to the external look of a car, the introduction of a facelift actually addresses known issues of the car while making enhancements and improvements to many areas. If the facelift model has undergone wiring changes and if the instrument cluster has a different layout altogether, swapping a pre-facelift instrument cluster to a facelift model will not work. At least not 100%. So you have to first figure out if there actually are changes. Whether the connectors are similar, whether the new cluster has features that your old wiring harness does not support and so on. You obviously will be able to get an electrician to make sure that the cluster is fully operational after the installation. I'm saying that you cannot expect to "plug & play" always.

Read this thread a couple of times but couldn't actually make a post here. So here goes... I used to live in Seeduwa from my childhood up until 2011. So used to go to the workshops with my dad when I was little and he always took his cars to this one place called "Roadstar Motor Works" in Seeduwa (directions from Seeduwa). After I could drive, I took the car to this place too. In fact, this is the place I restored my 1979 Lancer at. The owner is Mr. Ajith Hemachandra, a retired MINI Race Driver who is passionate about everything on wheels among a lot of other gadgets. He is the creator of the V-TEC powered MINI that we have a thread (here) about. Based on over 10 years of working with him, I think he is a very knowledgeable person and is good at what he does. He specializes in all types of mechanical repairs ranging from tune ups to diagnostic scans up until full engine overhauls. I always insisted that he paid personal attention on my vehicles because most of his staff are not as perfect as he is at what they do, so his personal intervention is essential to make sure that things go right. His charges are also easy. Even after moving to Athurugiriya later, I still didn't hesitate to make the trip all the way to Seeduwa to get my repairs done. I think Lal Alawatta's work is also good, but I guess most of you know about his attitude problem and will not consider him as an option. After a couple of visits to his place (all good - repairs are solid), I ended up not going there mainly because he doesn't know how to talk to his customers. My dad doesn't seem to have a problem with him though, maybe he respects people who are older than him and treats others like sh!t; especially if he gets to know that you know a thing or two about cars.

If you still have the stock silencer with you, and if you really want the quoted figures, my opinion is that you should switch back to the old one. Carburetor engines are known to consume a lot more fuel when incompatible/poorly designed exhausts are installed.

Top Gear/fifth Gear/jeremy Clarkson Videos!
Davy replied to Pasan_Robotics's topic in General Automotive
Jeremy had it coming. As a mature man, if he cannot control himself, well too bad. Top gear has always been about the three hosts as well (my personal favourite being Hammond), but we can't really say if the show will be better or worse without Jeremy. As Watchman said, people will always resist change. What we don't realize is that it just might be for the better. As for the deteriorating quality of the show, that I believe is separate and that the producers should be (partially) responsible. It actually looks like they're doing good with the "specials" but not the series. -
Goodbye CS3... Thank you for not letting me down for the past six years. :')

@Davy: machan, About what workplace these guys are talking about? is it where we used to work together? I would love to see the good old CS3 around again. You see, the office car park is nothing but an eyesore filled with Vesels and GP5's these days... We need some cool cars from the past.
-
@LashNeo: It's where I used to work before working together with you machan.
I had a couple of photos of the car park. One taken in 2010 when it was filled with good cars like that stunning BMW E34. The other taken just last year when about 4 -5 Prius's can be seen parked in a row. Sigh.
