  1. This is not tiptronic/ manumatic . And not CVT. just 3 speed automatic. And you can shift between 2 and 3 without any fuss while driving. If you are going a down hill and you need good engine braking you can shift it to 2. Again cruising, put it to D-3. thats all. To simplify this change they have a straight path, and no need to push the unlock button. Tiptronic/manumatic gear boxes uses an electronic control unit to decide and make up shifts and down shifts. And the driver can disconnect or to override the control unit to make gear changes to suit him. Just like the manual gear box.
  2. No, It was just a 555 puls generator.
  3. That's cool... I tried this 7805 few years back and blowed it up in milliseconds. After that I used a resister to reduce the input current....
  4. What happened Manji? How is your the now?
  5. Is this a translation of the Japanese? Because UK,US and Canadian models are different from japanese manual.
  6. Do you connect it to your car battery?
  7. But NOT economical....
  8. CVT oil must change periodically. Check the manual or contact A*W for the correct interval and the oil..... S on most outboxes has a larger gear shift range. So it keeps the RPM much higher than on the D. It has better acceleration, and good engine braking. So it is a Sports mode.
  9. Nissan..... NO.... Toyota... mmmmmm..... A Starlet is fine.... Or AE100..... This is Sri Lanka, So go for a Toyota.
  10. Staff motors does... Go for them... BUT What is wrong with you car ????.......
  11. This circuit is not designed to use with the car battery. The 7805 might blow up... But this won't cost more than a Rs50. So it's worth for trying....
  12. that's right Don. I think it is better to change engine oil every 3 months. I'm telling that because, in SL, most of car owners doesn't wash the car under body for months. The only time they wash it is when changing oil. When talking about oil filters, there are very good Japanese origin filters out there in the market. "V!C" is only one from a list. I trust this brand. For a low priced filter I recommend S@kur@.
  13. Abiman said, that he found a tacho meter wire. then This model has a sensor. Normally this sensor is a puls generator. In other words a kind of DC motor. But most of the time you can't spin it by connecting to a battery. If you can find a meter cluster, a good technician can do this.... One thing you have to check is the speedo meter that you have now. is it cable driven or wire driven...???
  14. There could be key programmers. But i don't think there are smart key programmers out there. If they mess things up, you can't even use your original key.... Best thin is go to the agents.... Car need a key programmer to program keys....
  15. There you have reasons.....

    Oil Sludge

    Yes... I agree with you.....

    Oil Sludge

What is the Name of the engine oil you use.... Most important is the usable milage of the oil. If it is 5000km or more I don't think it is necessary to dismantle the engine unless you have used the oil more than 6 months and didn't run the car continuously for more than a month.
  18. If you are driving your car in a dusty conditions, You have to clean the throttle body. In other words, do a EFI tune up. After that change your engine oil. When you doing the tune up tell the guy to identify the hose and to reconnect it....
  19. Good point pal.... Still I can't find any real life data about this issue....
  20. Does it have a aftermarket security system installed...?
  21. This coolant line only heats up the idle air control passage. So it only effect the engine when it is idling. In SL, disconnecting or bypassing will not harm the engine. But I don't think it will effect the fuel consumption.
  22. Go for a tune-up...
  23. Te battery pack and the motor will weigh around 30kg. Do you think this is a full load? If you Drive a Honda hybrid you can see, the hybrid motor supports engine only at hard acceleration. And I can say it is better than a 1.3 Honda Fit acceleration. And I think a Hybrid Insight will act like a Honda fit aria if we disable the hybrid system. Actually the Insight power train is a IDSI engine with a CVT (just like the Fit/ Fit Aria) and a brush less motor sandwiched between them.
  24. Can't predict about that. But the Honda MC says it will work like a normal 1300cc car.
  25. Just like a normal petrol vehicle. The hybrid motor does not add any friction to the drivetrain it is just a brush less motor. When field coils are not powered it is just freewheeling. The only excess we carry is the extra weight of the hybrid battery and the motor.
