Guys, what is the distance a car (Lets say a Prius) can go without the smart key till it realizes that the key isn't there and maybe stop or switch-off the car??
-
haha defa... but seriously i do wonder IF people actually consider the mileage it can actually do or do they just get on the "gon karaththe" and join the huge crowd just for bragging rights?? I came across a guy at E**h Zon*e last Sunday and he said while traveling from Mt.Lavina to Bamba his kids counted 98 "Weasels" I mean seriously that's a freaking huge amount in that short distance. to be fair after listening to that i too counted 16 Weasels in a time span of 15mins.... Jeez a tuk tuk is NOW a more Exclusive mode of transportation noh

Haha freaking hilarious now now sell the Prius and buy Nissan Leaf much better, while u charge the car at the side of the road thanks to a very unsuspecting victim and his outlet...where the charging cable is sent up the victims wall n through his front door (this is NOT made up i was in a hurry or else would have taken a picture too, just had a chat with him wondering why he had a wire on his wall thinking it was his house ) think of how many trees n birds u have saved a greener environment indeed. Ohh i did see a Leaf with no AC n reduced speed running on the highway shutters all rolled down and the guy looking extremely hot under the collar. @iRage stop giving advice to the other dude not worth it, hopefully @Galle got a pretty good answer to his question

Look pretty damn good there, good on you mate

Well glad to see the occupants got off without any major issues but according to what i saw while i was at there servicing unit in Orugodawtta found most Viva elites hving structural failures and pedals being pushed straight up. Can't say safe but its a decent car far better than an alto

okay well m intrigued enough now

I would recommend a Carina hands down chiefly of which being my 1st car and one that i managed to build up on from scratch... but do try to find a good car from the lot out there n u wont go wrong. mostly the well kept once will go time to time but most won't. Have driven the Si and owned a GT plus the diesel Carina in our office has clocked almost 300,000km but its high time for her to get a new build.

Have to agree on this there is nothing more to add than what Crosswind just mentioned above... have seen the Terios equivalent Zotya Nomad deteriorated so quickly to a point where u question your self how come this has an English number plate I think opting for a used Honda or Toyota would be better as well. Remember going to an Auto electrical joint sometime back were the garage owner kept cursing very loudly i might add trying to fix a security system on a Cerry QQ had all the wiring in white, u just could not differentiate any of the wiring. might need to stay away on this one

Ahh then apologies.... but usually they do have some sort of model number that can be of use. IF the menu is in another language like Japanese which i have.... Google translator app helped me to know head or tail about how to operate it. IF not on the head unit should be on top of the unit that will require u to remove the unit altogether and find out

Seriously dude that's the worst image i saw anyone upload... i cant even guess what the player is with a half shot of an image. what is the name or model of the player?? i think some models this can be done but chances are slim

m gonna weigh in here.... came across few while hunting for another car. even though the beamer bug bit me after checking a few cars gave up. m sure there are well kept cars out there but the once came across were poor examples. the beading's around the windshields are literally brittle they sorta crumble in your hands... the buttons inside the car specially the air-con and window switches were ruined. where the sun hits or either to extreme heat the center console plus certain dashboard parts were like melted (similar thing have seen on Galants). these experiences were from the E36 and E39. E46 on the other hand seemed good and people did recommend to go for the petrol variant rather than a diesel. but by that time i had enough of them. Still they do look pretty good though It would be a good idea to get a car which has a decent record of being well kept, would relieve you of headaches. Don't the agents have pre-owned cars, remember seeing one at the agents near Nawala junc.

This is what I’m referring to... Right got some chow and I am back!!! Step 1. Remove the cup holder. There are four screws holding the arm rest remove those plus another two inside the cup holder mechanism, almost forgot one other screw holding the cup holder rings to the front lid. This will allow you to easily remove the whole assembly apart easily. Step 2. In my case after staring for a while I found out someone who removed this console ions back had actually assembled it back in the wrong order and this was preventing the top latch of the cup holder from firmly closing. So I managed to fix it properly this time and abracadabra it’s all working okay. (Note: the cup holder unit should go from outside into the armrest unit and not the inside, this wont let the latch close properly) I hope this is helpful… Enjoy! Credit goes to [email protected] plus me

Now the fun bit, you'll need to take EITHER your old metal rod (IF you find it that IS) OR your paperclip (Have one more paperclip as backup). If using the paperclip, cut to size and bend both ends to match the above picture. Its length should be that one end fits in the small hole shown below, and the other end sit in the very end of the groove in the mechanism (lid fully open position). In my opinion have the end that fits to the mechanism (OR lid) just 2-3mm from the end and have it bent. Step 7: You can see what I am on about, the small hole near the bottom and the groove in the spindle where both ends of the rod sit. Step 8: Refit the small retaining plate. Now, the following picture shows how I believe the plate is fitted from factory, however, I tried this and found the opening mechanism wouldn’t work, so I ended up fitting it so that the whole plate sat ONTOP of the rod, holding it in place... which worked for me. Try BOTH ways before putting it all back together. (I am keeping this exactly same as the author coz it might work as he say both ways but I too had the plate fitted over. Step 9: Refit the larger retaining plate and again, try out the mechanism. If you've used a paperclip, you may need to experiment with the length to find what works for you. Step 10: Once you're happy with it, refit to the interior. Step 11: Try out your cup holder in a real world situation... marvel at your working interior as well as your handiwork. NOTE: before you do fit everything at its place have them cleaned without fixing everything like a spanner with years of dust and other whatnots. Now, I have another issue with my cup holder which you may or may not suffer from... the mechanism on the other side of the cup holder that controls the two 'flaps' working in unison. I finished my rather “Alwathura tea” now and gonna get something to eat, so that fix will come later as well...
-
Step 5: Remove the first retaining plate (darker metal) and you'll be left with this... hopefully. Now, there should have been a small shiny metal rod, no thicker than a paperclip (Sown below is what it might have looked like but this is the one replacing it now). I never found it even though I combed through the entire place so probably MIA. THIS was the offending item in my case as well, I can only presume due to wear and tear it became dislodged. Step 6: Remove the second smaller retaining plate which looks like this:

Found this thread on uklegacy.com http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/index.php/topic/130098-how-to-fix-gen3-jdm-cup-holder/ credit to this guy for doing this… I went a step further with all around images with his thread and images as well as my own. You will need: Cup of tea (I had to as well… what to do it was my tea time) Phillips headed screwdriver Paperclips (possibly) Pliers Step 1. Sip the tea Lol…. Step 2. Remove the center console area which is easy. 2 screws located under the armrest lid, a further 2 underneath the gear stick surround (Top most corner). Carefully remove the center console trim show below. IF it’s a manual tranny hopefully it should be the same technique. Start from the bottom corner of the trim and gently lift them up Step 3: Remove the cup holder and mechanism from the trim. 3 bolts in total underneath. Step 4: Yup I too had to stare a bit to wrap my head around how this was to be done. Sadly found that a piece of the cup holder was broken off (the bottom half of the lid) but for now needed to have the open flap fixed.
