Worn out hub bearing like humming sound
MV-5 replied to Dushyantha's question in Mechanical problems
before they advice to change the hub bearings, did they at least try to lift up (with a jack) a one of a front wheel and tested by driving (i mean engage the gear and accelerate)? NOTE: i assume your vehicle is a FWD, but still for some vehicles this test cannot be done (ex: limited slip differential) -
why don't you suggest to buy a new vehicle?

Yes , exactly, if first attempt it just make the "click" sound and in the second or third attempt if motor spins, 99% it is bad solenoid.

This sound is closer to "CLIK" than "TIK" , then it is the starter solenoid, which is a part of the starter and can be replaced without replacing the starter motor. this works as a relay, it connects the battery and the starter motor directly when the relay got the signal from the ignition key.

Head Gasket Damaged - Where to find it? Cost?
MV-5 replied to andunslg's question in Mechanical problems
sorry, i don't know about this model, but 2001 model , cost around 25k for the whole job including spare parts. if you can ask technician to remove the head and send it to a place like D!MO or somewhere, then they will not only resurface it, but also they will clean valves, fix vale seating problems if any..... one of my friend did this job, i think he had to replace the camshaft oil seal as well (laser 2001) just for curiosity, how did u notice that " water comes out from the head gasket"? . head gasket is not that fragile to be blown off if the engine got overheated for few minutes (4km , higher than 60 kmph means less than 4 mins), unless you filled water while engine is extremely hot -
Attaching a USB charger on Factory Blank switch on Corolla 121
MV-5 replied to dtaluthge's question in Electrical problems
Yes, charger is integrated in the device, but it is not good to assume that it can tolerate the external voltage fluctuations.- 23 replies

I will not hesitate to buy a used dining table, but i will never by a used lap-top.

TT s post is a total BS, he suggests you to "starts with replacing plugs and wires". of course you should find a good technician, but the same time you should prepare your self otherwise they will start to replace everything in the ignition path and the fuel path. if you suspect this is due to a problem in the ignition electrical path, you should feel this misfire very sharply when there is quick power demand (quick full throttle at low speed, you may feel the jerk sharply). if you can feel the misfire only when the car is idle, it is worth to do a compression test. Injectors are the most common misdiagnosis . if your car throws error codes for misfire (P0301,......), that's where we can start to play (compression leak or injector related problem it throws the same cylinder number even though we interchange plugs and wires). some technicians will start with replacing fuel filter (people like TT), then better to find a another technician.

Both ABS Warning and Hand brake warning indicators on
MV-5 replied to madushan.a's question in Mechanical problems
This is the way it starts, even after few Km drive, if you switched off and switch on, then ABS indicator goes off as normally.but next day it might return. once i experienced this same problem, the same way you experienced. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16145-mazda-323familia-abs-diagnose/ -
Both ABS Warning and Hand brake warning indicators on
MV-5 replied to madushan.a's question in Mechanical problems
ABS sensor replacement is a very small job. but you should go to a place at least equipped with a scanner. I can recommend Ma*na motors because they are well equipped and they have spare parts in their stock (for some repairs they are expensive but OK for this kind of jobs ). genuine ABS sensor would cost you around 12k-14k,labor charge +scan around 1k. -
BS! @DELO 5 if HC is in normal range, CO2 is low and CO is high ,Ignore this BS and try to stick with other members input (Davy and Rumesh). This is due to rich mixture. that means EFI system doesn't know that it is rich (Oxygen sensor) or EFI system cant control the air intake or fuel injection properly (flows are not uniform).

kmpl value for a trip makes sense only if the battery REMAINING capacity at the end is equal to the value when it was started (if start value is X Ah, then at the end it should be X Ah). Ok just forget......,whatever the value you can see is correct.

when temp gauge shows a higher value, does A/C still blow cool air? do a mall test, once u reproduce this, with AC, put to N and give some throttle to increase the RPM up to 3K-3.5K, keep it, check the behavior (further increase or decrease ).

wait... you replaced the head gasket? if yes, what was the problem?

Engine Jerk / Hiccup After Timing Belt Change - Honda Ek Civic
MV-5 replied to nsiva's topic in HONDA SRI LANKA
this is not related to timing. check plugs, plug wires, ignition coil assemblies. -
if the vibration and RPM fluctuation is worse with load (still at idle but with AC + Head lights), then problem might be in IAC actuator. so my suggestion is to do full air path cleanup (TB, IACV etc...) + ultrasonic injector cleanup. simply i would say that it is a full engine tuneup (it is easier to do this than trying to pin point the root of the problem).

does this car come with ETC? or some malfunction related to kick down detection
-
any RPM fluctuation at idle?

Here conductivity acts in different way. higher conductivity means electrons can be easily move through the material. so , when a a high voltage is applied , charges will be accumulated at the tip very quickly so voltage propagation is fast and when the tip voltage reaches to the value that it can be jumped through the air gap then spark will be produced (of course the shape of tip is very important). I still think that new conventional plug is better than new iridium plug. anyway resistor used to suppress RFI will not be a problem as you mentioned the discharging energy is very small so the current flow is. (you know that if we apply 10v to one end of 1k resister or 1000k resister , voltage of the other end will be 10v for both )
-
yes, i think it is nickel, for these all types that middle core conductor is copper. conductivity of nickle should be higher than iridium or platinum.
-
Always new copper (conventional ) plugs are better than new iridium or platinum ones.from performance perspective, copper is the best option.
-
probably this is due to bad plug wires or coils, problem might be a "spark leak" .it might be the reason that new plugs solved the problem for a short time period (because spark will flow through the least resistive path ). some spark leaks are visible, but not all (you can do that famous "soap water" spray test)

probably they might have bought Hybrids for daily use and E46s are used as the second/backup car.
