Engine idle is normal. In fact it is bit quiet. This issue occurs when the AC is turned on and after engine come to normal operating temperature. It seems when the engine is cold, knocking is minimal even with the AC turned on. I had to remove the distributor to fix an oil leak recently. Once it is fixed back, the knocking occurred even without AC, so the garage guys adjested it a bit and the knocking stopped by that time.

Actually it happens in all gears but very much visible in lower gears. when engine catches speed this sound goes away.

Sorry for bumping this. I also have the same issue in may car (Lancer CB2A 1994 carb) .but only when the AC is turned on. I mean when the load to the engine is high, It occurs when the gas is pressed hard in 1st or 2nd gear mostly. There's no such issue when AC is off.

At cold start no big issue. It happens when the engine turns hot after some driving. Eco test failed at first time. Then I got the air filter cleaned and adjusted the idle a little bit then got passed. Let say barely passed. CO level is close to 4.0 at idle. At 2500 it is very less 0.2 or something

Thanks Rumesh88 for the reply. The issue is when I take the car to the mechanic they set the idle to 750 rpm and it will remain there fine at that moment. If I turn on the AC idle goes up to like 900. But when the AC is off idle come down to about 600. Like wise idle keeps changing time to time. Sometimes when I start the car after a drive as soon as I start, idle stays very low like 150 and car starts to wobble. Then I had to press gas a bit and then it comes to some speed like 600 and this will change again time to time. When I told this to my mechanic he said the carb.s door is not been functioning well. What's actually wrong with the carb?

sorry to go bit OT. Is this the carb that garage guys called as "bothal carb" where piston is placed horizontally ? My 1994 Lancer CB2 has the same and looks similar to above. My mechanic said it's hard to keep the tune of these types of carbs. Is this true? what would be the best replacement if i were to change the carb? I'm facing bit of idle related issues with may carb.

I checked a CK2 sometime back and the way I found its Indian made is the engine bay identification plate has the words "Hindusthan Automotive" or something similar along with Mitsu logo. It's a GLX,EFI but semi option (no power shutters etc.) And bit cheaper than Jap edition.

I also had a similar issue. Leak in the break booster was the cause.

I heared EFI units of Wira's of that age is not very reliable. One guy actually converted his EFI Wira to a carb coz the troubles were never ending.
