People did you'll notice any White 2012 Mitsubishi Montero moving around with WP Lx - xxxx with Ambulance decals on it. Saw one at Pepiliyana last evening and was shocked. The Future of Ambulances going to be SUVs.

Uhh..nothing new there....there are Ambulance kitted LandCruisers (70 series as well as 100 and 200 series and Prado) and also the Pajero and Nissan Patrol. Probably somewhat new to SL, although I am pretty sure I have seen quite a few LC 70s ambulances.

Probably a donation from some foreign government or organization.

As iRage said, Colombo Fire Brigade had some Land Cruiser Ambulances in the past (in the 80s)

SO there's no need to attribute this to the so-called economic development of the country

Red Cross also had Land Cruiser based Ambulences used in North and East. Somewhat practicle in that terrain.

I know of a few Montero Ambulances, they've been around for sometime. Infact there is a private hospital in Padukka which has two I think with LW nos.

Mitsubishi has the Montero / Pajero ambulance where they can put one stretcher at the back. Land Cruisers and Defenders have the ambulance option from the factory. There was this late doctor who wanted to get down a Discovery4 ambulance, but there was no factory option for it.

Off topic, I know, but did anyone notice the new "falck" ambulances? Proper ambulances (not converted vans) and pretty kitted out and seem to be driven by paramedics.

falck is an international paramedic service that set up shop here recently. they operate out of the old sarvodaya vishwa lekha office in mount lavinia. close to home. i've seen them go on their roudns often. contemplating serving some time there, actually...
