  1. You should avoid putting these pics on the public internet, I remember telling this to that Parak guy from Aussie, and I think he has taken down the images of his kids. Guys who take these and use have no moral values anyway, and it could end up anywhere. At least in your case its for a good cause, so best is it to avoid it.
  2. I doubt there is a Jap Lumala, but the locally assembled bike is exported to a few countries like India. Its a cheap bike, and good for a occasional user. entry level Shimano index gears, alu frame, disc brakes but its not a professional mountain bike. The Maradana Rider shop had some amazing bikes, but with a price tag of close to Rs 100k ! But if I do take this mountain biking thing seriously maybe I would invest in one, but not now.
  3. Thats brand new, zero millage . But with all the Hybrid lower tax I expected it to be lesser.
  4. Rs 23k for a bike with that specs seem very reasonable.... The Lumala I bought seems to have the same specs but the quality is not that great. Its value for money ( only Rs 16/= brand new) but the disc brakes are really bad, now planning to upgrade the brakes. I checked out the shop between Maradana & Punchi Borela ( Rider Shop) has a lot of genuine parts and some good bikes. One brake caliper was Rs 5000/= ! , Feels a little silly to buy that for a bike which is only Rs 16k !
  5. Hey...!! what happened to all the posts ? Anyway Peri is right this is not about B4s, but my challenge to MD still stands to prove that I tried to sell my car after the accident and that to, to a fellow A/L member. Making a false accusation is not a decent thing, but I guess we have guys from all walks of life on this forum. Just think about this.... the car was fully covered by insurance, in fact Eagle was in doubt approving a claim of Rs 650k damage on a car which was insured at only Rs 2.3Mn. I could have easily got the car condemned and walked away with the insured value, but I still did it the hard way and got it fixed. If I had any intention of selling I would not have gone through all that hassle. But If any of you boys are still concerned and want more details on the accident or the car just send me a pm....
  6. Could be a ministry vehicle..... they usually disappear mysteriously....
  7. Whats that guy hiding under his t shirt ? drugs ??
  8. The Allion is a big car but the stock wheels are smaller compared to the size of the car, so making the tires big will give a better appearance to the car. But since you are planning on changing the alloys why dont u go for a bigger rims straight away ( You compromise on handling, performance etc.. when the tyre is too tall ) , you might be able to do a deal with the tyre shop to do some sort of exchange.... I think its a worth while investment on the car which you would have paid over Ra 5 mill, it will help the re sale value as well.

    Air Filter Repair

The after market foam filters has a steel mesh to support the foam from not breaking. It was just a joke.... but the K&N filter is based on nylon type material put between steel mesh. So if in the past guys were using vest material which has some portion of nylon its kind of the same thing.

He is now holding the patent for the K&N filters... ? )
  11. Adey.... where are all these Hybrid boys, looks like I am fighting a lone battle on behalf of the hybrids.... What to do... machang, can us sell some of that scrap metal and lend me some money to buy a boost gauge... ? Talk about wanting to sniff other peoples pus**s..... Thank you English master... you learn something everyday..... I always thought it was adapt

    Air Filter Repair

I did this once, the Swift sport had a foam filter, it was rather dirty but I could not find this particular filter anywhere. So I got a cushion sponge and washed it to get rid of any small particles, dried it cut it to the correct size and applied some K&N oil on it. You need to hold it to a light to see if the sponge is too thick or has too big holes else u will have problems to ur engine If you look closely the normal sponge is not that different from the after market foam filter material. But it was only a temporary fix, not worth trying to save Rs 1,500/= .
  13. Nice diagram.... where's the chivalry machang ? had u stopped u would have got a nice smile and a wave from that girl, now see what has happened ? Trying to argue the case at courts will not be worth it, best is just admit the charge and pay 1,000 bucks or something. Worst part is u waste a good half day sweating inside that dump...

  15. But if we don't have the Hybrid guys ( the early adapters ) the hybrids would not get off the ground in the first place we would never know if it succeeded or not if nobody bought it .
  16. Check your in box , I sent u some details of one guy.
  17. Your arguments are all very correct, but just like NadriqE has said the question is NOT weather the Hybrid is a better car but weather it will be popular and succeed in Sri Lanka. If you look at it the most popular car in Sri Lanka is the Corrolla, we all know its a pretty basic A to B car, does well on fuel and has a decent re-sale value simply cos its got the Toyota badge. The car is a bit boring to drive but people still buy it like crazy. The same with the Maruti or Alto, these cars are successful as its got a low price tag. There is nothing wrong in buying a cheap car as long as it serves the purpose. Now u got the Prius, still a boring car but does far better on fuel than the normal Corolla, lower price tag and the higher cost of fuel plus its made in Japan. To top it off Toyota lanka is now confirming they will maintain the Hybrids, and Stafford too is selling the Insight as Brand new. When a car becomes popular automatically the infrastructure will develop around it, like the spare part guys in Delkanda or Panchikawatha will have almost any part for a hybrid. The same thing was there when the automatic cars came to Sri Lanka... now its more difficult to find manual cars, not that manufacturers don't make manual but people prefer the auto. We still prefer a manual but we are not the majority.
  18. We have way too many three wheeler s on the roads, lets hope all these get crushed and don't get back on the roads.
  19. Well..... the poll results show the same ( 86 Vs 40 votes ) , but some guys here don't like to accept reality, as clearly seen from all the ugly arguments on this thread..... careful u might get clobbered on the head with a V8
  20. Ah... since the difference in the width is only 5% the rim u are planing on getting should be able to manage your existing tyre without any issue. There will be no gap like you mention, as a tubeless tyre cannot be fitted with a gap anyway.
  21. Considering the soft toys at the back it maybe driven by a girl or a man who likes to be a girl... so doubt the car would have been thrashed around too much....
  22. Going from 195 to 185 on the existing rims should not be a major issue, but since you are going to maintain the profile at 65 height will be more ( approx 10% taller than the existing one) You will need to see if there is enough room when turning the wheels. Anyways since your tyres are new it will be at least 2 or more years from now when u will need to change it..
  23. The simple fact that DD drives one as his daily proves its a great car.. his car looks stunning with the big alloys and the front lip.
  24. For the price u pay for a MacBook Pro you could get a really high end Hp or Dell. I agree the apple may have a better build quality, but the average lifespan of a notebook is 3 years and you have a much better version , so its not worth spending soo much unless u are going to use if for a specific reasons like Ripper.
  25. Yes, it does over 10kmpl and thats with a heavy foot, I saved soo much on fuel while using it. I think 115bhp on a very light car, and will get you form 0 to 100 much faster than any other car u have mentioned. Can easily move in traffic due to its size and very nippy. You can get one for lower than a 1.3 Swift as our local market has something against 2 door cars. Also u get a relatively newer car (2004) compared to a Premera.
