ShintaroX..... so u know this Mahila Samitthee business ? I guess not, does that make you an ignorant twat ? Maybe the bugger has life member ship in this club, -
If your a/c is not cooling well, ( significant loss of cooling) , best is to just switch it off, and get it checked from a good place. Running it will make things work worse as there is much more strain on the system.

If its a small scratch best is to just live with it, but I Nawala Cu*hion guys go this. ( both on genuine leather and the rexine type ones) They are little expensive but work is good, but the best material to have would be alcantra, I am sure they do seats with this material but could be costly.

Thats the same conclusion I came to as well since everything else checked out ok.. also I did not crash in to something solid, it went in to a " Pas Kandiya " , so it may have soften the impact. I was wearing the seatbelt, but even if it was not worn there would not have been any issue, the car absorbs the impact very well, I guess thanks to the crumple zones. YOM is 1999, and if I remember correctly it has the " crush" type sensor not the accelerometer, which was missed by an inch or less..... -

Best Car For 2.5 Million To 3 Million
CARBON B4 replied to kasun111's question in Car Buying Information
My guess is you should be able to still get it for around Rs 3 Mn , if you negotiate well.... but if the vehicle is in very good condition and well looked after, its worth paying a premium ( Even Rs 200k more is ok). The second hand market does not instantly go up, it will take a few more weeks before it happens. Although people start quoting higher there is always someone trying to sell it off at a lower price.. ( for example if a guy is going for a new car, he will want to snatch it up sooner so will sell the old one at a loss without haggling too much.) -
It was Aviva, they paid every last cent with zero influence.... Only thing I paid for was for a new set of new tyres.....
-
I have used Avi*va NDB & the J Shakthi..... J Shakthi is well known to try to avoid paying for a claim... , Avi*va, when it was Eagle was very good and no fuss, and flexible, but after the change in ownership, I think things have got a little more difficult ( most of the decisions on claims etc are taken by the Indians.., and u know what that is like ) Union has been known to be good and I am yet to hear anything really bad about the guys in terms of claims etc.. Btw are these rates with no claim bonus given upfront ?

I never said people here don't help.... they do, but what I say is that it does not justify someone to insult or use bad language on another guy just cos he is ignorant on certain things.. In fact I myself have had several questions asked from me via pm, and the main reason people did not want to ask that type of questions on a open thread is they dont want to get insulted by the few arrogant seniors who think they rule the roost, and get some sort of pleasure by bashing the small fry... However much you guys may try to deny it the OPs point is valid and the quality has actually come down.... I get on this site to enrich my knowledge on vehicle stuff, but its a difficult task to filter through all the garbage. Although some of the arguments do have entertainment value. -

The speed at the point of impact was much less thanks to the brakes ( had the front pads replaced couple of months prior) . Anyway is there any way to actually check if it works ? I assume the dash light comes on and after it detects and checks if everything is in order the light goes off, there is no issue on that and the boys at Senok too checked it and confirmed. Is there anything else I need to check for or do myself ( other than crash the car) to see if it functions ok ? -

I did some reading up on it after the crash and like whats said in your link there are several sensors that feed data for the unit to determine the severity of the crash and if its worth deploying the bags.... Although I was going at about 100, was able to bring down the speed to maybe 40kms ( my guess) at the point of impact, actually the left light was not damaged and only broke from the bracket, I have few pics just after the crash and when u look at it it does not look bad... but quite surprisingly the chassis was affected from that, maybe the angle in which it hit ? Guys at Senok did check the bags and confirmed it was in order, well I guess there is no other way to actually check if the bags inflate or not , unless I crash it again..... ? @ Charitha19 & Komi : The problem was there was a van ( also traveling at high speed) on the wrong side, so had to do a very sharp right turn to avoid hitting the idiot. I dont blame the car its actually quite stable, but I should have been able to get out of it.. Although I do kick myself for it, its no big deal as no one was hurt, cars can be repaired or even replaced.......and you just try to make most of a bad situation.... Got some pics of if but cannot seem to upload, if anyone is keen drop me a pm and I will mail it.... -

I don't think its the case.... a rapid deceleration does not necessarily trigger the bags to go off, there needs to be impact, and that too a significant one. Had I walked away I would have got the full insured value... now why would I try to sell it after having spend all that time and effort ? Anyway Its my car my petrol,....... and there are many more cars that have crashed but are back on the roads, I know of several Sti s like that.... but the real issue here is not the accident, its the fact that I am accused of trying to sell the car to another A/L member by concealing the accident... -

No... its just that the cost of replacing the air bags + the rest of the repair cost could bee too much, and Insurance will consider it a write off.... -

The decision to condemn a car is taken if the repair cost is going to be significant % of the sum insured, and not necessarily if the car is repairable or not. The insurance Company guys will off set the possible scrap value Vs the amount they need to pay out and will take the call. So if anyone wants to get it condemned its just a matter of inflating the repair cost. And all these cars end up back on the road, as insurance cos sell them off . -

The impact missed the air bag sensor unit by less than an inch !!, had it gone off it would have been condemned and no way insurance would want to go ahead with the repair.... When I say " bent" is a small one, which was straightened out on the jig.... like I have said its not going to be as good as it came out of the factory, but whats to be done... accidents do happen, that's life. -
Machang.. I am just trying to have conversation here.....

Hey... Komi, SeanD, Machang the accident happened more than 3 years ago, it was around 10:00 pm and was taking a sharp bend at fairly high speed and lost control trying to avoid head on traffic, ( there was a moron in a Van on the wrong side crossing the white line , which I could not see at the bend) .. I managed to get out of it without hitting any other vehicle but crashed in to a wall... The car took most of the impact as that's the way its built, but nobody was hurt and the impact was not that big to take out the air bags either... Basically the front bonnet, buffer, both lights, radiator, ac condensor, lower arm and one tyre got busted, I was fortunate that the impact did not reach the engine area, but the chassis was slightly bent to a side . Senok did the complete repair and after about 2 months we got it back together. My biggest issue was finding all the parts, and I was lucky as the guys at Mirai Auto had recently got down a front cut of a newer Legacy( facelift D revision), it had the Aluminium bonnet, and new zenon lights were in super condition. So I cut a deal with the guy and got insurance to front the entire bill, which worked out to be close to Rs 700k, ( pretty steep for a car which is only worth Rs 2.3 Mn ). Anyway the accident is no big secret and everyone knows about it, It was a good example of how something good came out of a very bad situation. Sadly there are guys who have nothing better to do than spread rumors that I tried to sell the car by covering up the accident... that is complete bull and the few people who know me knows that I dont do shit like that. I have bought and sold close to 20 cars as a side business/hobby and I have done it very professionally, If there were faults that I fixed up, I would still disclose it to the person buying the car. @ ShintaroX : the guy who actually lost a testicle is the guy who started this thread... I am told his nasty bicycle accident left him without a testicle and a non functioning co*k... , hence the reason he is sooo jobless.... -

Ah.... my three best friends.. , quite funny how these three names pop up when someone talks about the " Quality " of A/L posts... Ok.. here is my take on this,....... I too have been on this forum for couple of years but created this profile only recently, I used to read a lot of posts back then and I have been able to educate myself on a lot of stuff thanks to this forum, as I am not a professional automobile guy.. As I remember even then you did have people asking dumb questions but the way such was addressed was way different, today the bugger gets insulted like hell, in a rather disgusting way. Whats ruining the quality of the posts is actually the type of language used by a FEW members... I am yet to see any inappropriate posts by guys like Ripper, The Don, Harshana ( ? the Peugeot guy), and lot more other " Senior " members, but they too contribute a lot by way of advice... Anyway I dont make the rules around here, I am just a newbie.... -
When someone says.... "Wasn't this car with Nigel Austin at some point ? This is posing a question as one is in doubt, I am pretty sure a lot of petrol heads here know Nigel Austin, and that's not name dropping although you may think it is..... As a matter of fact I do know him personally through work and he is a fine gentleman, unlike you.... Anyway thank you to Andrew GTR for clarifying that....

Has anyone seen the A*W yard ? There were like thousands of Altos, Marutis, I am pretty sure they keep stock of these cars and its not made to order. Anyway since u paid the advance the same day the price increase, they should offer you a refund, that would be the decent thing to do... but you never know.
