  1. Nope.
  2. Ok. I take the floor. Hope this is easy.
  3. Those days we had "Autolanka Awards" at the end of the year. Also we had a member called Sylvi , 76 years old. Good old days.
  4. Yes, you are correct iRage. Upper fender corner with that grove was more unique with Nissan those days. When we buy our Sunny B12 from Japan , the yard owner gave a Nissan Laural high quality fabric carpet set (free of cost) and it perfectly fit with B12 Sunny. Now I know why it happens so. Thanks.
  5. Looks like Nissan Cedric/Skyline or Toyota Crown in 80s Smell like more Nissan.
  6. Toyota should introduce pop-up side mirrors to Sri Lankan market soon. Once you start the vehicle only side mirrors come out. Meanwhile somewhere in the world, http://www.core77.com/posts/38703/Disguising-Your-Car-with-Fake-Rust-Looks-Interesting-But-Wont-Prevent-Someone-From-Stealing-It
  7. Before you go for wheel alignment, please check the condition of your shock mounts. If they are not in good condition you have to replace shock mounts. (Please check post number 63 in this thread posted by me. ) . Because if your shock mounts need to replace , without replacing them going for wheel alignment is pointless. I replaced shock mounts around 15000km as I remember and had to replace again in last month at 50,000km. This is very common with Viva Elites. You may take your car to Unit#d Mot#rs - Orugodawatta. Because they always make attention on the condition of shock mounts when you go for wheel alignment. If your shock mounts are not in order, they will tell you before do wheel alignment.
  8. Simply I keep this cow-milk.com post away. I remember similar junk post appeared in cow-milk.com about Viva Elites (when Viva Elites are introduced) and that post became so popular . That post was asking to avoid Viva Elites and finally over 14,000 units of Viva Elites flooded to Sri Lanka. The points pointed by the writer was very funny. Accident damaged and repaired vehicles importing may very few I believe when considering the number of vehicles reach here from Japan. But odo meter tampering is more possible as per well known yard owner(in Japan) to me. This author has been just reached to Japan and thinking that suddenly he discovered something new. But these points are already known to many. (I believe this is not disguised our member "Osaka Nude" ) And if you need to own very same vehicle you selected from auction, I believe importer can request engine number and chassis number in the L/C as a special clause. So exporter has to export very same vehicle only. Even there is a possibility to describe the commodity description with relevant chassis number/engine number in Proforma Invoice and secondly include them in to the L/C. (We have used such special clauses in machinery imports.)
  9. Agree with you ae100. Proper garage is the best option. But still there may be some limitations like when you are in rented house or when garden space is not enough you have to seek another option/s. That is way I said "One should select whatever suitable safety precaution/s for him depending on his purpose ,budget and the possibility of functioning."
  10. One should select whatever suitable safety precaution/s for him depending on his purpose ,budget and the possibility of functioning. Anyway have you ever heard the story of 3 hearing aids? A person visited a shop to buy a hearing aid for his family member. There were 3 sets in different price bands; Rs.20,000, Rs.10,000 and last one just for Rs.20. First two sets were branded and battery operated . Additionally Rs.20,000 set had some additional functions like extra water proofing, long lasting battery... The third one is just two small bottle rubber closures (small bottle lids made in rubber), each connecting to a piece of wire and two wires are connected at the free end. (Physically looks like wired hearing aid) The person ask from the shop owner, when you use Rs.20 set, how it helps to increase the hearing ability. Shop owner replied, you have to wear these rubber pieces in your ears and insert the combined wire end in to your shirt pocket. When other people see this equipment, they know that you are having some hearing problem. So they start to speak you louder.
  11. If you need to install a CCTV system with normal recording function and if remote viewing (view on-line) is not required, you can install the system without internet connection. (It is just plug and play) . But if you need to add remote viewing (view on-line) function, definitely you need an internet connection to connect the DVR. Remote viewing you can do in two ways. (1) You have to install the relevant software to your laptop and you can have remote viewing. (Your lap top need wi-fi or internet connection) (2) You can use cloud computing like http://www.nvsip.com/ and you can use remote viewing from any computer in the world which has internet connection. Same nvisp app can install you your smart phone and you can have remote viewing.
  12. Sorry, no special place to recommend. Before you visit there better to do some google search of CCTV components and learn. When I search on google, I found few posts posted on cow-milk.com and sorry I am unable to post them here since it violates forum rules. There were two posts clearly describing different type of cameras, advantages of them and different type DVRs ... . and aslo how to install them with noraml remote logging settings.
  13. Just have a half an our visit on 1st Cross Street , Pettah. You can understand the quality & price of different systems/components. The people who install CCTV systems earn a lot. When I install mine, I couldn't complete remote login process alone. Checked with a CCTV installation guy. He quoted me Rs.4,500/= for just making remote login. My office friend helped me to install remote login and (he also new to the subject) he completed it within 20 minutes gone through manuals and some internet searches. So CCTV installation is not a rocket science. There is a shop close to my residence which sell coconut and coconut oil only and they too have a 4 channel CCTV system.
  14. Hey Davy, That is a pretty nice car. Congrats Mate !!!.
  15. Nope. I have a four port router with unlimited internet connection at my home. Also similar connection at office. Just connected one port with DVR. I couldn't install remote viewing process alone and got hep from IT guy in office. However now a days DVRs don't need complicated settings. (even not required to change any router settings). software can be downloaded through net and few settings to make. As per my office guy remote viewing through cloud computing is easy. (Sorry I don't know to explain them).
  16. I will answer few questions. Please see below two video clips which will give you basic idea on CCTV. Google for remote viewing. Remote viewing installation is very easy with latest DVR.
  17. (1) Once I used motion sensor. I connected it with a lamp and also to a door bell which gives continuous beep when sensor sense some moving objective. Worked for a longer period. (2) You can install a CCTV system. If you need a good system you can buy some good quality brands. If not, just for this purpose, you can buy normal quality system at lower price from 1st cross street, Pettah. Three weeks back I bought a set. (normal quality) 1 camera Night vision two years warranty- Rs.3500/= DVR (4 port) Rs.5,500/= cables and other items Rs.1500/= Hard disk will be about Rs.7000/= (I didn't buy since I don''t need recording function at the moment) These days, my upper floor constructions are going on at home and I am monitoring the progress through on-line in my office hours. Installation also very simple. CCTV are not so expensive any more.

  22. Ok, I will explain you briefly. Import Taxes will be charged here (in Sri Lanka) based on CIF Value. (Not based on FOB Value) . Please check equation posted by Rumesh in previous post. CIF Value = Cost + Insurance + Freight Here cost means FOB value. CIF Value = FOB + Insurance + Freight There is a term called "Incoterms" in international trade. This defines the cost should bear by whom and also the responsibly of each sub event in the import-export process. Free on Board (FOB) - This is the price of your car up to deck of the vessel at loading port and seller paid all cost up to this point. Freight - Sea freight to transport your car from Japanese port to Hambanthota port Insurance - Marine insurance for the vehicle You can check below table. http://ibnewsmag.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Incoterms.jpg There are two banks involve in this transaction on behalf of you (Buyer) and exporter (seller/beneficiary). Buyers bank = Issuing Bank (Your bank, in Sri Lanka) . L/C issues by this bank. Sellers (Beneficiary's) bank = Advising Bank(Car exporters bank in Japan) http://www.letterofcredit.biz/images/Letter-of-Credit-Advising-Process.png L/C is an agreement/contract between above two banks on behalf of buyer and seller. When you open a L/C, your money will be hold with your bank (Issuing Bank).(Your Money will transfer/remit to shipper's side after goods shipped and process explained below.) After shipper(also known as beneficiary/exporter) handed-over your car to vessel, shipping line (captain of the vessel) issue the Bill of Lading or B/L to shipper (to your car exporter). B/L is the title of the goods like deed of your land. Exporter/shipper will submit B/L with other relevant documents (known as Original shipping documents) to his bank (Advising Bank). (Normal shipping document set contains: Commercial Invoice , B/L, Packing List, Marine Insurance Policy,Certificate of Origin.....) Advising Bank directly send this Original Shipping Documents set to your bank (Issuing Bank) by courier http://www.mantissa.co.uk/main/quickguide/Grafs/step7.gif Once Issuing bank(your bank) receives Original Shipping Documents, Issuing Bank release money to Advising Bank.(This is the point your money transfer from Sri Lanka to Japan). Because now both banks checked shipping documents and satisfied that shipper has been already shipped the goods. So safe to release your money to shipper's/Exporter's side) Advising bank release money to Exporter. Hope now you can understand why your bank(Issuing Bank)charge on you on the exchange rate when they release money to advising bank. After this L/C payment settled, you can get original shipping documents to your hand from your bank(Issuing Bank). Then handover it to clearing agent. He will do getting Delivery Order(DO) and future steps on behalf of you. At clearing process, Sri Lanka Customs will charge you import taxes based on the rules and tax rates valid at clearing date. (When I import my vehicle , while my vehicle is on sea water, Sri Lankan government increased import tax rate. So when it reached to Colombo port I had to pay additional Rs,100,000 under new tax rate.) It is a lengthy and complicated process, but I summarized as much as possible. Hope you got some basic idea on this.
  23. Fuels are getting various colours by adding Fuel Dyes. This is for easy identification of the particular fuel/grade. But I haven't observed any colour reference in Sri Lanka. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_dyes I heard that when Mahaweli Project operate here, special coloured diesel issued for project vehicles/equipments to avoid/minimize fuel theft by drivers and workers.

  25. May I know what do you expect by posting same thing on different threads? http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16668-buying-an-entry-level-car/page-2#entry280896 http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16668-buying-an-entry-level-car/page-2 http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16576-suzuki-kei/ Bro, Please kindly stop digging old threads and posting same thing. Is this a garilla marketing by someone who imported an Alto 2015 and now on for sale? So called Fuel Economies are dreams when they are at work hear? (Specially when A/C switched on in city traffic) (Previously I owned a brand new Japanese Alto)
