  1. just saw this davy :-) yes i did change and whole process took around 1 hour and cost me something around 3050 for both plates. it was a two English letter number plate. you need to take old plates - if you are changing damaged plates (single or both) and copy of the police complaint if it was lost. Photo copies of your NIC & your vehicle registration book along with originals Hand them over above at DMT. you need to hand over them to the counter in the building behind the main building they'll verify documents and give a letter which you need to take to the vehicle registration section which is in the 1st floor in the main building and will request you to make the payment at people's bank below and produce the receipt You will get a letter which you can produce to police in case if they stop you for having temporary plates in your car use the same letter to collect the new plates after 3-5 working days at the same counter you handed over the old plates
  2. Congrats again macho. it is a wonderful machine to own. wish you'd have own this here ....... as others said. please be safe with your drive and hoping to see this thread fills with awesome memories. Looking forward to another fruitful Thread!!!!
  3. Yet again nicely and neatly done as always.
  4. nicely done Trinity!
  5. check your PM. give him a ring and see.
  6. Not sure about the price differences between Mazda and Lancer spare parts but can tell you that sourcing them for a 2002 Lancer model has not been a problem at all in Colombo.
  7. Hey Hashan, hope you got your car back on the road
  8. Its very hard for me to accept that we are ready as a country to have electric cars whereas almost all the electricity bills are subsidized by the government. basically drive of electric cars today is helped by the funds from the general public which is completely other way around compare to vehicles run by gas. Government ran a huge campaign sometime back to reduce electricity usage but on the other hand let people import these type of cars. just my two cents
  9. yeah machan, its bit weird. but sorry guys, one thing I couldn't highlight was, last couple of days just before the repair I felt a slight miss occasionally which I didn't pay much attention and just day before the repair car got over heated - might be the reason to crack the radiator top tank as well -. couldn't that be the reason?
  10. update on the issue. got the car repaired last Saturday. below things were done 1. Head gasket replaced with the overhaul kit. 2. Radiator top tank replaced- they said it was damage may be due to overheating - not something I had noticed 3. spark plugs were replaced meantime right after the first start noticed that engine is vibrating - if that is the word - a bit and they said its due to worn out plug codes - connecting from distributor to spark plugs - and asked me to change them soon as there were at their End of Life and could lead to considerable power drop from the engine output. finally I took the car out and run the vehicle nearly around 20 KM and felt OKAY. but the next day I felt a massive miss frequently while I was driving and unusual vibration was felt when the car came to a complete stop lets say in the traffic lights. so decided to change the plug codes as its near impossible to drive with that condition. had to spent around 43K for whole thing and now car is running very smoothly like never before and feeling a considerable gain in pulling power as well. now keeping eye on the water level - not yet moved to coolant - and engine oil levels to make sure everything is fine.
  11. agree with you don. I'm thinking about replacing the ring set as well. lets see oh is it. anyway thanks a lot man raising your helping hand again. I checked with $uprim3 and going for the Japanese gasket overhaul kit which is around 7K - Genuine @ here 26k & @ un!m0 29K
  12. @ The Don. TBH I have no idea what this overall kit contains. they say head gasket kit is one unit and overall kit is another. I would love to attend some other things as well but at this point I don't think I can unless it is really really required as i have to be more careful with my budget due to the arrival of new member of our family :-) @Amila_Silva, machan, I'm afraid i have to get the car repaired soon - due to the same reason i have mentioned above :-) so i don'y think i can get it down via eBay soon I checked with $uprim3 m0t0r h0use Wijerama and they said they have it. I doubt what i'm gonna get above is genuine
  13. thanks Trinity, that would be great!.
  14. Update on the topic. took the vehicle to the garage (not the usual place). they too assumed that its the leaky gasket after get to know above symptoms plus seeing air bubbles in the radiator when the engine runs. something I was unaware of before. they'll be inspecting further . will be checking what needs to be replaced exactly after seeing the damage to gasket other other parts in the next week. I checked with Un1 M0t0r$ for parts and they said, 10.5k for the head gasket and and 49 for the overall kit. next week will be checking outside as well as I heard its much cheaper outside. any specific place I should be looking for?
  15. Yeah man i do not have much knowledge when it comes to this level. but I asked from the mechanic whether is it anything to with gasket but he said no. surely i'm avoiding the place this time. Machan, I have noticed this white smoke not only with cold start but even after running for time as well.
  16. Thanks Mahesh, it was the same reason. radiator was blocked but suspected something to do with coolant or a repair by a previous owner. so gasket leak ruled out without having a fair reason. my bad Yeah Chathuranga, taking car to the mechanic this weekend.
  17. its a Manual Davy, as requested by few people move to a new topic. Guys, sorry for messing up here :speechless-smiley-004:Mods please remove these two post if possible
  18. Moved to a new topic from here I have noticed something like grease is filling up in the radiator and suspecting now whether is this due to an oil leak. I had to replace the previous radiator due to the same reason and at that point suspected its something to due with coolant or something previous owner has used. but looks like its a persisting issue as couple of days back I happened to notice this again with the replaced radiator when i was checking the water level. also have noticed some drop in engine oil level as well. few things I do notice (could be irrelevant to each other) oil in the radiator white smoke occasionally slight drop in engine oil level slight drop in water level heat comes to 1/2 level when AC Off Heat is below 1/2 always when AC on brief history. Lancer CS1 2002 manual Has done around 1500KMs after - the service is done - Oil Mobil - Radiator replacement - recon and was in a good nick ODO is around 130K - actual number could be higher. Appreciate your valuable thoughts on the possible causes before I take car to a mechanic. Davy suggested that this could be due to leaky head gasket.

agree with you. was interested of the point that duplicating the view from both rear & side mirror

@ The Stig, but in cars even if you can see the side of the car on the mirror, you actually cant see the entire length of the car. reason is the slightly inward angular shape towards the rear of the car. so you cant exactly judge the distance just looking at the mirror.

but it is good for reversing, so that you can see where the car is going..

  22. haha I was that lucky person. thanks again man!!!!! check your PM. this place is near Wijerama Nugegoda
  23. 3 AT vehicles got involved in an accident yesterday. 1st suddenly stop to avoid hitting a girl on the yellow crossing, 3rd vehicle cud't control & hit the 2nd one. Subsequent sudden force of impact let drivers of the 2nd & 1st cars to miss the break paddle & to eventually hit the girl – with a minor injury. Less possibility with MT vehicles?

    1. NRX

      NRX

still the impact would have taken it's toll regardsless of the transmission type, with a manual transmission it would be somewhat lower :)

    2. trinity

Could be, in manuals driver would miss both brake and clutch paddles due to the sudden impact force and this will stall the engine. So less chances of moving forward freely.

      Dinukap4

Yes it would have been lower or no accident at all, you can just shift it to the 1st build up the revs to 7K kick the clutch drift around the girl and go on your own way.In a serious note As Trinity said if they missed the brake with the higher gear they were in the engine would stall.
