Well the verdict has arrived that the throttle motor is busted. So the recommended solution is to replace the entire assembly as it comes as a sealed unit. Is it possible or worth trying to repair this unit considering its criticality ?

I don't think Prius S grade gets cruise control by default.

I am not sure what toyota designers are smoking lately when it comes to the front grille Lexus seems to be doing OK with the spindle grille but toyota seems to be getting it horribly wrong with their imitation of it when it comes to cars in recent times. The camry facelift last year and now the axio.

No Power mode on this model, I believe the power mode is only available in Prius. Eco & EV are the only modes available

Out of the blue i got the "Check Hybrid System" message along with the check engine light and master warning light. There was no prior warning and the errors are not going away. it's throwing P2111 and POAOF error codes. How it happens is like this. 1. Start the car. Above warnings come up. 2. Engine Starts, Responds to throttle and car runs without any discernible issue. 3. When the battery charge is sufficient it switches to the EV mode and the master warning light starts blinking along with a beep. 4. After that when the battery drops to below sufficient levels or when i press on the accelerator(even if i press it all the way), the engine does not kickback to life. 5. So I turn off the car. 6. When i turn it back on the, engine kicks in to life and the same cycle happens (2-5) The car has 38,000 Km on ODO. It's a personally selected car from auction/Dealer, so i think ODO tampering is not an issue (The car was checked out when it was brought to SL and it had 9300 KM on the clock at that time). I have turned over the car to the agents and they are still checking whether there is anything that can be done without replacing the throttle body w/motor unit. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Maybe then they are testing the waters with the axela first. Hopefully it will get applied on the 6/atenza as well.

Some articles are saying that this engine might end up powering the next gen (10th) Civic.

Apparently Toyota/Lexus Group finally launched one of their own (8AR-FTS) with the NX. According to wiki, It is a "2.0L turbocharged direct-injected member the AR family, fitted with VVT-iW it is able to operate in both the Otto and a modified-Atkinson cycle". And it says it has a "The twin-scroll turbocharger" that was developed in house. I read somewhere that the Axela hybrid uses the Toyota Hybrid System alongside a mazda engine with skyactive tech.

When observing the specs of most of the recent cars, all the European cars comes with low displacement mills that are either turbo or bi-turbo whereas if u look at JDM cars all of them are naturally aspirated and/or high displacement mills. What is the reason behind these 2 different philosophies ?

Yes. And surprise surprise. Now if u get in to either Fit, Shuttle, Vezel or Grace, u will be hard pressed to identify which vehicle u r in by looking at the dash. They all looks the same Only the sheet metal is different i guess. Yeah, I think the wagon tag is throwing our people off. Looks like Japanese manufacturers are finally going down the same path the european manufacturers have been on for so long. Similar looking front facias, interior layout etc. Jury is out as to whether its a good or bad thing.

Mazda 6 hands down. Mid Size Car - So there is plenty of space compared to Premio. Excellent Design - I guess it's the best looking out of the mid size Japanese lot. Good Fuel Economy - with SkyActiv which should help in stop go traffic. On a side note : There might be about 100k more to be added to the cost in terms of remaining semi-luxury tax. Only downside might be the resale price and would have to depend on the agent for the parts.
