  1. The HV batteries are in a strong protective casing, may be not be completely waterproof if immersed in water, but water won't get in there any easy. They have a cricuit breaker to shut down and disconnect the HV system automatically in case of an emergency. Since you're wondering what could happen, here's an example: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/17773-helpprius-wont-start-after-recently-flooding/ EDIT: I won't be surprised if I see some mint condition / owner migrating cars for sale from the flooded regions within the next few months.
  2. Agreed. Colombo - Kandy - Gampola is completely fine (a few relations of mine used it today), but don't even think of using the road via Avissawella - Ginigathhena to get to N'Eliya.
  3. Not first hand information, but Nasa has released updated satellite imagery to help identify flooded areas: go.nasa.gov/25cViD4 Change the basemap to OSM (OpenStreetMaps) to get a clearer view.
  4. Honestly, who told you it was a smart idea to make multiple threads to ask the same question? Welcome to the forums btw. This has been discussed in multiple threads, just use the search function and you'll find them. I've made it easier for you: http://bfy.tw/5rHo
  5. Congrats on the purchase! You can try soldering a new set of buttons on to the board, even though the board has SMD components, the swithces are somewhat big so it should be a simple DIY. These buttons can be bought from most electronic shops if you go with a sample, if you can't find them, you have to look in electonic shops @ Pettah - 1st Cross Street. If the only issue with the remote is the buttons, the remote should work just fine. You can check this by using a small wire to short out 2 of the opposite pins for each button on the chip, be careful not to let the wire touch anywhere else though.
  6. Yes, a friend on mine had a 2002 Premio inspected sometime back. I don't think the age of the vehicle matters unless the vehicle is more than 25-30 years old.
  7. Agree with Crosswind. People are too selfish these days, try and do something to help those poor souls. Regarding your question, the government may not increase the tax on vehicles since the prices already went up 2-3 times, but with the way the rupee is depreciating right now you never know. Stop worrying about the tax. If you know that there are rumors of the prices increasing, sell you Vitz quickly (probably for a slightly cheaper price than you have on mind at the moment) and go for the Mazda. If you don't want to do that, then be prepared to pay an extra cost if the prices rise. Luck doesn't always turn in your favour, you have to make decisions and learn to live with them the way they turn out.
  8. So the agents wanted you to completely replace it with another gearbox even though the problem could have been rectified by changing the CVT fluid? Wow.
  9. They thought the van started floating because some "balloons" inside the van were blown. It's surprising how the tourists were busy taking selfies and didn't care that they were being driven on to deep flood waters by their hero driver.
  10. Fibreoptic is too overkill considering the data cap we're given. Even 4G speeds would finish up the 30GB quickly, but that's a better balance between speed and data volume.
  11. That's one amazing collection you have there mate, probably a dream here in SL!
  12. The damage that has been done is already done, waiting till the water dries up and starting the car will not reduce the damage. If it was a 90s car with more mechanical parts than electrical, then allowing it to dry up probably would work, but for a Prius this is not the case. Your friend is risking even more damage by attempting to start the car, the car has probably shut itself down to minimize the damage. Attempting to start will allow current to flow through the circuits which will end up frying any components that been shorted out due to water. If he still wants to try, make sure he has some extra cash in hand as fixing a shorted Prius ain't gonna be cheap
  13. 01. Price range is between 3.1mil and 3.5mil. This depends on the condition of the car, number of owners etc, 3.2-3.3mil will be reasonable for a car that has been well maintained. 02. Already mentioned above, it has a decent fuel economy for a car of its class. 03. Again depends on how well the car has been maintained. Keep in mind that you're buying a 13 year old car and that repairs are around the corner, have a full inspection done at Toyota Lanka before you buy if possible. 04. No idea.
  14. SLT's fibre optic logic: You get 30GB peak with constant 75-100Mbps, but as soon as you run out data, the fibre optic turns into a 90s a dial-up connection. So theoretically, you can spend your entire 60GB within 1.4 hours and use the entire other month at 64kbps.
  15. I'm not a Prius expert, but you will be doing more bad than good by trying to start a vehicle which water went in to, specially a car like Prius as it has many electronics and a HV battery (even though its in a strong casing). Electronics and water don't mix that well. Better to have the car inspected by a Prius expert before attempting to re-start it again or have the car towed to the agents.
  16. ^Haha bro, that's my comment

  18. Nanoe seems to be something that generates negative ions which are added to the A/C outlet vent which purifies the air. According to Panasonic, "Nanoe, the revolutionary air-purifying and filtering system. Using nano-technology, fine e-ion particles are released by the system, which deactivate 99% of airborne bacteria and virus in the filter’s indoor unit to ensure the fast cleaning of the air. It also neutralises odours to provide a more pleasant and healthy environment."

  20. Congrats on your purchase! Another rare buyer who has gone with the choice of his heart.
  21. That's a better option if you're adding this while keeping your existing connection. Yes, 4Mbps would be sufficient, provided all the 3 users don't use youtube/skype simultanously.
  22. One golden rule, you should never get facts such as fuel economy, maintenace, durability etc of a vehicle from salesmen. Do your research online and read reviews, forums etc to get more accurate information.
  23. L****bell is not a bad network, it has gained some reputation during the past few years, but is slightly behind S*T and D*alog at the moment in my opinion. This is a small marketing gimmick that the average user doesn't understand. When referring to download and upload speeds, the term "Mbps" is used and when referring to transferring files the term "MBps" is used. Mbps = Mega bits per second MBps = Mega bytes per second The package you're referring to here offers a 1Mbps downlink line, so theoretically it will take you 8 seconds to download a 1MB file. Therefore the internet connection speed you will be actually getting is 0.125MBps (Mega Bytes per second). Practically, the time will be around 10-15 seconds as you cannot get a constant speed due to several factors such as distance from the network station to your home, quality of cables used, latency delays, bandwidth controlling etc. So basically a 1 Mbps connection will not be sufficient for 3 simulataneous users for the activities you have mentioned. It may be sufficient for 1 user, but he/she will have to spend some extra time buffering the Youtube videos. May I ask why you're specifically looking for a unlimited connection? There are several service providers who provide 16Mbps (which is basically 2MBps) for 60GB per month (30GB peak and 30GB off peak) for half the monthly rental of the L*****bell package you have mentioned above. The internet has long developed since the dial-up days, with HD videos and large file sizes becoming prominent, so try to get a faster connection.
