If you can expend $ 5.00 more you can try this one which lists more features. But I am still watching it and willing to know the quality.

I had not a chance to check bluebird sylphy meter board. But logically it should not design to change/discard a meter board as a bulb. Better to check with another "Auto electrician" as first step. Secondly try Strikeee suggestion and you can definitely fix a bulb.

Is There Any Place To Repair Car Security Systems?
kusumsiri replied to kasunj's topic in General Automotive
Thks lot mate . I will try to contact them. -
No Not. You dont need to remove the engine to change the timing belt. See following images. Changing the timing belt is not a big job / big repair. Dont fear about it.

If your said "some electrical issues" not effect to the original chip inside the old meter cluster, a electrician/electronic technician can re solder original chip to the new meter cluster. That will solve your problem easily. But you will face difficulties when trying to explain this matter to next buyer. He can think you hacked the meter value, though you are genuine. So give the old meter to the new buyer (Watchman proposed) with emission reports (PreseaLover proposed) is the best option and he will see you as a gentleman. Thats what you can earn from the new buyer other than money.

Is There Any Place To Repair Car Security Systems?
kusumsiri replied to kasunj's topic in General Automotive
I have the same brand 'silicon' security system in my car and works fine. Could only lock and unlock all doors through the remote. No way to lock the doors when the car start to move (speed lock / break lock ?). Myself checked the system and found two wires disconnected from ACC and foot break. After connecting both wires the system locking doors automatically after the car start and press the break pedal in first time. Also when stop the engine, all door locks open again automatically which is fine. Now the issue is, if a door opens while engine is ON, the security system start to chime. So always need to stop the engine if one passenger need to get down in between the journey. Anyone face this issue in your security systems ? If so any solution please. Also anyone have user manual of 'silicon' car security system which is made in Singapore ? The security system circuit have 4-5 jumpers and no way to find their usage. So willing to know their functions too. -
One of A*W agent @Rathapura too had said to replace timing belt once 40,000 km. But both Maruti & Alto manuals (section 9-2) says Replace every 1,00,000 km. Think they create a phobia in new customers and trying to earn. Also heard that if timing belt break, it will not damage the engine like Japan vehicles. Expert can comment on this too please ?

Car Tv/dvd Display Turn On Time To Time
kusumsiri replied to dhanuFB15's topic in General Automotive
I am not aware local places which can buy GOOD players. Have seen lot of places who sell Chinese players. Sad thing is they dont provide warranty more than 3 months. Once I bought this via ebay and worked well until I sell the car with it. Only week point of it was bit difficult to see back as it fix on center mirror. Check this link and get idea about features and cost, even you buy a player from local market. -
Car Tv/dvd Display Turn On Time To Time

Simple diagnostics steps which comes to my mind. Before cold start, on the switch to ACC (dont try to start the car) and check whether your player working or not. Wait said time (10-20 min) and see the difference. Before cold start, disconnect your player power supply from the car battery and connect it to another power source like 12v power adapter. The video players will not suck power like a starter motor. So most small 12v power supplies will do the job. If you can find a extra battery, keep it inside the car and connect to the player and do a test run. These steps are in easy to hard order. In worst case you may need to replace the player. If your battery much enough for cold start after a week, I dont think its bad and may no need to replace. Most Chinese players cost around 5-8K bucks. -
Yep. But it was bit difficult to find the reason as no error code. Also no history available as no saved logs.

@TSR Yes. Kandy - Badulla road, normally they come out in the night. Some years back the road was closed @ 6.00pm due to terrorism threat + elephants on the road. But those days also 100% safe in the day time. You dont need to omit Kandy - Badulla (Rajamawatha) road as this issue. Its a nice path to travel at least once in life time. Specially with your kids if you have

Repainting is not like original at least 90%. (But some touch-up is ok for minor accidents) When repainting, they remove all interior & exterior parts. Fix again after painting. This cause at least minor damages to the parts. I have seen this in several time. In some cases doing the job without removing parts. They cover parts by masking tapes with news papers and painting. After removing tapes we can see the mess. After a big accident, they find used body parts in various colors. Fix them and repaint whole car. So I dont like repainted / color changed car to own.

Not some buyers, may be most buyers will hesitate to buy. Even me.

Yes osanda19, I am comparing 2000 Vitz with Swift 2004 (Jeep model). So seems I can ignore this 3 cylinder pulling power issue.

Changing mileage is well known secret. As both cars coming with OBD2 port, its very easy task and will take seconds for the job. See how it do for a Chevrolet Cruze. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gsO0ddMl2g The old emission test reports are the real proof about true mileage. Once I check a Toyota Platz it had low mileage. But when I check last two emission test reports, owner captured. Finally he said the emission testing center put wrong mileage in the report.

So need to add CVT troubles & seats / driving position to the comparison table ?

I am also in same situation with udayanga_. Except driving pattern. Mine will be 20 km per daily but not in Colombo. In weekends some random drive. A Vitz 1L or Swift 1.3L in my list. My budget max 2.2 M. Following are the extract I found from other threads about these two models. Vitz ==> Pros ----------------- Better fuel economy than Swift Easy handling (specially in bends) Vitz ==> Cons ------------------ Relatively older one can get for same price. (Swift 2004 / Vitz 2000) Less ground clearance Swift ==> Pros ------------------ Relatively newer one can get for same price. Good ground clearance Swift ==> Cons ------------------ Somewhat bad fuel economy than Vitz Handling bit difficult specially in bends @osanda19 : why do you say "vitz is always better than swift" ? Friends, please help us to select best one among these cars.
