  1. Is It true that only 5 DIESEL vehicles took part and that our boys are 13th or 14th in the overall competition out of 29 entries??? just heard the news on the grape wine.....

  3. To all the critics, 4x4 challenge 2006 was first scheduled for october of this year but due to the prevailing security situation of the country we had to postpone several times. December was the last call as a long weekend was there, being considerate about the competitors we were compeled to hold it on the dates announced. It was regretable that these dates were the same as RFC. It is also regretable that certain people seem to think that the organising committee is out to keep away competitors, let us enlighten those who favour LROC that when ever they organised events that the last to be informed was the FWDC and also the competition was so that only their competitors had the advantage of running ahead of the rest. FWDC is not a biased club and we welcome any soul to the club with the common interest of promoting the 4x4 sport and true sportsmanship. A note to the person who refers to Nigel as a winner, we would like to request from you to keep Nigel informed of the deadlines given when these types of events are to be held and also if possible to sponsor his entry fee as stipulated, the vehicle too needs to be ready for the challenge and it was with safety in mind that it was not allowed. As for the results not being announced at the event, we would like to be very thourough with it as competitors need to be give the benefit of the doubt and 40 hours of tape has to be reviewed to make sure that all these debits and points are correct, unlike sportsman in RFC malaysia, us local competitors don't handle debits easily. A finel note to all so called patriotic Sri Lankan's...It's a shame to note that there is always a person there to drag the successful one down just so that we can all be stuck in the same mud hole. Isn't it about time that we started to think about the future of the 4x4 sport in Sri Lanka and promote Sri Lanka as a 4x4 Challenge destination in the International circuit. A personal note... I hope that one day all critics will turn around to us and thank us for the previlage we will bring by promoting this sport through out the country. A famouse quote come to mind where the FWDC lives by. "It's not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. For your information there are 3 or 4 land rovers taking part, as for the lady requesting us to allow landrovers is bull, we have given them deadlines for entries..., 4x4 Challenge was scheduled for October but due to the countries situation we had to keep postponing the whole thing till December, keeping indika and osanda out was never out intention... We wish them all the best at RFC and also, would like to pose a quiestion to all those who think that this event kept them away... If sananth J is out of the country playing international cricket does that mean all cricket games in Sri Lanka are stoped till he come s back?? Think before you leap...

  6. Hi! I know of guy in SL who has done quite a good job of convering his BJ40 into Coils. He has used LJ-79 trailing arms and the mount kit. The guy actualy lives in Habarana and does quite alot of off-roading as well as on-roading into colombo and back. Try speaking to him... His name is Warner - 777 182447 Let me know how things go...   9. Hi Guys, It's time again for Nuwara Eliya season to hot up! The Four Wheel Drive Club and NEM have once again come together in organising the Nuwara Eliya 4x4 Lake Cross. This event is open to any 4x4, SUV. It'll happen on the 17th of April 8 am onwards, send n you entries come have fun, lots of great prizes to be won including T-Max Winch. It seems as I have stired a hornets nest with this issue, will you guys be interested in putting all your resources and having a discussion or have a petition circulated getting the police to explain their actions and the ruling they make towards such accessories? I thin we can get together and make this a common opportunity for all vehicle owners to get educated about the laws of this country. Cheers
  11. Hi everybody. I thought of starting this topic 'cos of the contravasy a certain Law enforcement department and it's actions against people who use vehicles. Jeeps, Cabs and other recriational vehicles have been the target of this group. It is not understood by the innocent user as to what the offence is. I am refering to the use of after market Bull bars, Rear bumpers, Fog lights etc. Recently on a popular news channel, they have commented that such items used will be considered as offencive and fined if found. The law as I understant is (Gazzetted) states that "No fence or bar may be fitted in front of the head lights and that no such bumper or extension exceeds 2" from the original body spec." this I agree. but according to this statement a person can fit whats known as a A bar which does not interfere with the headlights. I have had several people talking to me about this and recenlty a person known to a friend of mine had been stoped by one of these officers and had wanted him to remove the Rear Bumber, and until such time his Driving licence and the revenue licence have been take. The Gazzette does not say that rear bumpers are offending items. My simplest questiones are: 1. Who makes these laws? 2. Have they tested or carried out extensive trials to say that these bumbers are actualy dangerous? 3. Who decides what and what not to remove from these vehicles? 4. Can such officers take the law and ammend it as and when they please? I would like a learnerd person to enlighten me and my other collegue, who are mistreated as the Law is not transperant enough.   15. Hey Duncan Wish you the same for the New Year. I am actualy planning to join an expedition to Kumana/Yala etc happening next week. We will be out for 4 days, exploring the jungles and other interesting places. we are also trying to plot routes through them. Will post the report once I get back. Check you guys out later Ushantha
