This could be signs that there's some issue with the DCT. Get it checked at the agents to know for sure.

@GWX777has mentioned about the 1.0T UK model and not the 1.5T. If you have the 1.5T follow the instructions of the manual for the 1.5T. There hasn't been any reports on turbo issues on the 1.5T as per my knowledge.

I also landed on this link earlier and got shocked to see that they had such good standards of fuel since 2007 (as per the site these seem to be from 2007). Even our Euro 4 petrol is not matching these specifications yet. So, that means the chances of catalytic converters getting bad is higher in Sri Lanka than Japan?
-
Not only the 10th gen Civic, FD3 UK also has 95 mentioned in the spec sheet as well as the fuel filler cap.. But, I don't think that's the case for the JDM FD3.. it's hard to understand that.. @iRagecould you please enlighten us on the fuel specifications used in Japan.. I mean not only the octane value but the percentages of Sulphur, lead etc.? I think even though the JDM models can run with 92 octane the quality of fuel in terms of other content could be different with the 92 octane fuel we get here.. So, with the quality we have here, would it contribute to catalytic converters going bad here in SL as opposed to the same car running on JDM fuel? I recently viewed the IOC Indian site and they now seem to sell only octane 95 and octane 100 and both are claimed be more fuel efficient, more smooth engine operation and environmentally friendly..
-
Are you guys aware if the octane boosters/ Emsol/ Soltron etc. have any negative effect on the cars catalytic converter??

Show it a car audio place like Pet#o Lanka or Bara Stereo and see if the screen can be repaired. They do it sometimes and if not; You can go this route Keep in mind nowadays that the audio shops quote a premium price on the units they have already brought down -
It's a default colour for international models.. So Stafford imported cars as well as UK FD3 cars came in that colour.. Don't know if its repainted or not though Here's the JDM FD exterior and interior colour options And here's the UK FD3 exterior colour options.. So from this the colour you like is polished metal metallic or urban titanium metallic it seems

WOW 😮 The one you have linked looked way better and tastefully modified when it was with its previous owner Sad to say the current owner had ruined the looks.. This is one of the best optioned JDM FD3 available in the country with adaptive cruise control and a factory fitted corner pole and front camera system ideal to know the front edges of your car for a newbie like @Pasindu111

Well due to the devaluation of the rupee prices have doubled so same goes for the FD3. So if its worth that money or not is purely subjective based on your needs and financial status 7 million would have fetched you a very new car a couple of years back So with the current situation if you have a need to get into a car, a good condition one would be worth it since the repair costs too would increase along with currency devaluation. A well maintained one would be reliable be it an old car or a new car. As @iRagehad pointed out earlier, CarChecks is good in certain areas and the agent in others.. So, since it's a hybrid be sure to check at least the usable battery capacity from CarChecks if you are not planning to visit the agent.

Yes, since this is your 1st car try to get one that is already sorted by a reputable place with records. Battery with a warranty etc. Since you are new to this finding the best places to do the things might take a while which might burn your money. Because there are many places that do these repairs but not all places are doing a quality and a professional job. Yes, no need to fear on hitting the southern expressway at all There's one FD3 of a friend of mine that hits the southern expressway daily with a mileage of around 200,000km. And not all cars are close to 200,000km some are used less as well (just above 100,000km). Whatever the mileage the necessary repairs should be carried out (usually based on the mileage or time line). Be sure to check and get the condition verified and records to prove (if these are available mostly the car should be in good condition). If the car is in good health engine wise and hybrid system wise it would return around +/- 20kmpl in the highway and out station. In Colombo it would be around 10kmpl to 15kmpl depending on the traffic conditions and your driving habits. If you are a frequent highway runner try to get one with cruise control which would make your journey more comfortable. When it comes to FD3, UK FD3s come with standard (maintain the set speed) cruise control (most UK cars have cruise as standard) and the JDM cars come with optional adaptive (maintain the set speed and distance and brake accordingly) cruise control (for JDM cars cruise control is optional so most of the cars don't have it but there are cars with adaptive cruise control in Sri Lanka that were advertised for sale). Keep in mind that using cruise control would be a bit less economical fuel wise in any car.

1. Up until very recently a used battery consisting of GP1/2 cells costed about 150,000 to be assembled and fixed. Conditioning an existing pack was done around 25,000. A brand new brake accumulator used to cost around 50,000. These amounts should be adjusted to reflect the inflation nowadays most probably. Anyway for 15+ year hybrid car the FD3 has proven to be very reliable apart from the battery failures that were reported when they were introduced to the market. Since then replacing the battery with the new Honda battery cell type has resolved the issue and is long lasting than the Toyota hybrids. 2. Well if you go for a FD1 with hydraulic steering rack, leaks are common so that would be an issue you'd need to tackle. However, JDM FD1s and FD3 are Electronic Power Steering so those cars don't have that problem. Other than that FD1s with pedal shifters and FD4s have suffered gearbox related issues due to the teenage owners beating the shit out of them Frequent launching etc. So anyway, check the car before you buy at the agents and invest in a good car with a maintenance history so you don't need to worry. Other than that issues are what you can expect from any car depending on the mileage and how well the previous owner took care of it. 3. The FD3 is my first car and bought it in my 20s so it has served me well since then. Like @iRagementioned you can't see the front end of your car from the driving seat (FD has a sporty driving position and is low to the ground and the exterior shape is aerodynamic focused with a very large windscreen so you can't see the edge of the bonnet or the bonnet for that matter so you'll have to be careful on that. 4. General stuff you would inspect when purchasing any car would do. 5. Light colour leather interior would be available on most probably FD1S and UK FD3 models. JDMs didn't come with leather mostly. Well that's mostly the case with agent imported FD1 models and some JDM FD1 cars. JDM FD3 cars with the navi package came with a factory fitted reverse camera and a head-unit of 7 inches from factory. Even the highest grade UK FD3 came with a similar setup. You can fix any android head-unit 10 inch 9 inch or whatever and install a reverse camera if the car you select doesn't come with those. Easy job for the car audio guys And they also have a suitable panel if the car you pick has the old type stereo setup. Like you mentioned for a newbie a reverse camera is a good driving aid and it has been a constant help for me as well throughout the years. Since mine came with the original reverse camera it has been very easy since it supports a good viewing angle.

Yes, the FD3 is hybrid. I have a FD3 since 2016 and if you ask me you should chose between the FD1 (1.8 liter 140hp) and FD3 (1.3 liter + electric motor 114hp) and ditch the FD4 (1.6 liter 123hp). Why? FD4 is the basic model in the FD lineup with least options and doesn't really excel in performance or fuel efficiency (efficiency is basically the same as the FD1). FD1 would have some unique options like hydraulic power steering, sun roof and pedal shifters (agent imported highest grade) while JDM would have EPS and pedal shifters without the sun roof and could have some of the goodies of JDM FD3 based on the options added by the Japanese owner on their initial purchase and would be a bit more fuel efficient than their agent imported counter parts while having the same performance. FD3 would be the most fuel efficient and most option packed model in the lineup with stuff like electronic power steering, ABS, EBD, vehicle stability assist, 8 air bags, seat heaters, winker mirrors, special alloy wheels, keyless entry, multi-function steering, adaptive cruise control, city brake system etc. based on the country of origin and the grade of the car. Also, the car has good pickup (better acceleration than FD4) thanks to the electric motor (ONLY IF THE HYBRID SYSTEM IS IN GOOD HEALTH). The FD series (FD1, FD3 and FD4) is fun to drive, have good handling, attractive looks both inside and out and is comfortable and spacious with a low to the ground driving position. (all equipped with independent rear suspension and all 4 disc brakes and rev happy Honda engines). Maintenance should be attended to by a person who is familiar with Honda models else a MAKABAS would make your ownership experience a pain in the ###. Recondition parts available and like everything maintenance costs are high these days.

Sad to hear that I recently got a paint job done on my front bumper from Stafford (mine is a 8th gen Civic) and they seemed to have done a pretty good job. This was the first time I got their services for a paint job and seemed far better when compared to all the other painting places I have been to which all quoted a premium for paint jobs (and didn't do a fully satisfying job). Like @fiat fan says, go with them at least you can hold them accountable. On a side note.. Repair prices have drastically increased at Stafford and all other agents along with the prices of parts and other consumables like engine oil etc. When I got my car a cost of full service at Stafford used to be around LKR 12k and now I learn its around 27k for the same after 6 years. And like @Hyaenidae has mentioned the cost of engine oil have doubled and same goes for gear oil as well.. so yeah inflation has hit Sri Lanka hard nowadays Not the best time to own a car it seems or to live for that matter

Did you get the repair done? How was the quality of the job? (assume you did it at the agents) And any noticeable difference in the car's handling/ comfort?
-
This could happen to any car not just the Civic, based on the driving route and the driving style of the owner. Let's say the owner is regularly taking bad quality roads and drive in a way without any care towards the car the shocks and other suspension components could fail prematurely. I have seen many new cars being harshly driven in bad roads without any concern towards the vehicle which is a pain for me to watch driving behind it- maybe it's something a car guy feels And like @GWX777 had mentioned the previous owner could have carried heavy loads regularly as well depending on his requirements. Anyway, its better to get it fixed soon since the prices of parts are very volatile nowadays. So you might have to pay a higher amount if you delay the repair I don't think this is an issue specifically related to the 10th gen Civic.

Thanks @K.o.N.o.S I am also hoping to get one installed soon.. maybe with the existing panel cause I'm not a big fan of the huge panel design as it seems to be a bit odd to the interior (the one they have for the FD).. Thanks for all the info you shared..!!- 233 replies

Do dreams come true? = YES (Bought a lancer ex)
Dee Jay replied to K.o.N.o.S's topic in General Automotive
Ahh ok.. You have the original set of speakers that came with the car right? So 4 speakers and 2 tweeters setup is it? Your set has this DSP thing right? Does it change the sound quality when adjusted? Is the FM reception on par with your old unit? And how about the reverse camera guidelines? Are they accurate as the original unit? Could you please update a photo of that too? Oops I saw several advertisements for 10.1 units with 2GB RAM though so was thinking of those.. But the thing is the panel that they have for the Civic FD is bit larger than what you have installed yours seems to be well integrated and flows with the design (as in an old CRT monitor/ TV type look is there ) I currently have the original navigation setup that came with the car (made by Mitsubishi electronics ) and I have no complaints regarding its sound quality. Yes, even I had a look at the Nakamichi sets and other Chinese android units as well though I couldn't find much information online about the other units..- 233 replies

What to look for when buying a 2nd hand Hybrid vehicle..
Dee Jay replied to BLL115's topic in HONDA SRI LANKA
Get the vehicle inspected at the agents or a reputed place.. In the inspection scan report check for the effective usable capacity of the hybrid battery. Since its a Vezel its highly unlikely that the battery is weak as Honda hybrid batteries last longer than their Toyota counterparts. Try to get a vehicle with proper service records which would give you the peace of mind knowing that its been looked after well and you have an idea what has been attended to what you need to attend with a verifiable mileage. As mentioned above, the dual clutch is where you need to be cautious in driving the vehicle into the future as driving without a proper idea on the vehicle you are driving could lead to future problems as the Honda hybrids of this era is known for DCT issues.. So better to maybe contact a service advisor at the agents or some other experienced person (owner) who is well versed with the vehicle and get a know how on this. If the dual clutch has been previously repaired see if there is any noticeable slippage of gears since some places don't know how to repair it properly. ABS issues aren't common to Honda hybrids as opposed to Toyota hybrids so just ensure that the usual things like suspension, interior, body work, engine, brakes are in good condition as a normal vehicle. On a side note, ensure that you pump quality fuel and use a proper engine oil as these hybrids have catalytic converters and they tend to get clogged due to the quality of fuel we have in Sri Lanka, which would lead to the check engine light being illuminated. -
The Toyota Premio/ Allion are not so advanced/ option filled cars even though they demand a price premium in Sri Lanka.. Hence, they lack options like TPMS, Adaptive Cruise Control etc. But, if you would like to have the feature in your Premio you could always install an after market TPMS set.

How offen do I change ATF on Honda Grace?
Dee Jay replied to sarath akmeemana's topic in HONDA SRI LANKA
Every 40,000km you should change it with the genuine Honda oil that is prescribed by the manufacturer for the car.. -
I have been running a set of Falken tires for a little over a year now. (In my case they were made in Japan and not Thailand so things might be slightly different between the country of origin). The tires had comparatively less road noise and comfortable than the Pirelli run flats I ran before. Wet and dry performance was good and overall I'm satisfied with it.. Overall I'm only missing the run flat option from the previous tire set.

A friend of mine purchased it couple of months back from the authorised agents via daraz when I purchased the Soft99 wax. So it should still be available I think.

Get the bushings replaced with original.. You should be able to source them T#c M#t#rs, S#pr#m# Motor H#us# etc. If you are not satisfied with the job done on your rack you may want to consider the famous rack repair place in Negombo..
