  1. I don't have prior experience with Pirelli tyres.. and the tyres I got are run-flat.. things are pretty quiet when driving on well paved roads and the highways though.. That's why I wanted to see if it is the usual case with run-flat tyres..
  2. You mean the run-flats? Even I got the same.. and the road noise is very high.. when going on non-carpeted roads or on carpeted roads where there are slight imperfections in the carpet; like patched up pot holes, uneven surfaces etc. at speeds between 50 to 70kmph a very loud noise comes like metal hitting the road I was wondering if it is anything to do with the run-flat option or is it how Pirelli tyres are in general..
  3. Guys, could you please share your experience with run-flat tyres.. Do they differ in comfort and road noise from non run-flat tyres?
  4. Yes both of them have Sportage
  5. Seems its something to do with the procedure.. UPDATE: The procedure involves not only changing transmission oil but, changing differential oil and brake oil as well. They won't do transmission oil alone as per what my friend said. So does that justify the price and the time?
  6. Yes, 2 of my friends got it done at K*A for 80k.. and as I remember the process takes 2 days as well..
  7. Like @JayZ mentioned, it would be easier for the members to recommend a place or comment on the prices if the suggested repair items are included. The transmission oil change costs 80,000 for the Korean SUVs of that era (Sportage and Sorento) at the agents. However, the service interval is every 80,000km as well for the transmission oil change..
  8. Get it scanned.. the issue would be related to the hybrid system of the car.. like the above posts indicate it could be anything related to the hybrid system.. so no one would be able to explain the exact cause without a scan..
  9. As I recall it had the 1.6 liter engine when it was launched here last year.. Same story in India as well where Honda launched Civic 10th generation with the 1.8 litre engine from the 8th gen with enormous ground clearance..
  10. This seems to be a common issue with the CHR.. there were many members in the FB group that was affected by the same issue.. I read in some comments that Toyota Lanka charges around 70k to replace the injectors and it can be fixed outside around 55k. Don't know the validity of the comment as I have not personally observed this fixing. Is the injectors out of stock at Toyota Lanka or they haven't brought it down yet at all?
  11. No kidding.. those Jayanthas are marketing gurus, better than Cotler maybe The ability to sell a bare bones Vitz at 6 million LKR and a heavily outdated Premio 260 at 10 million LKR is just woow I mean who in the right mind would make such a purchase given so much better alternatives at those price points.. (maybe... maybe Toyota is sponsoring the floral shirt guys?? )
  12. Is it possible to get it repaired? Due to the import restrictions it might not be possible for Stafford and even other suppliers to source the parts from abroad if they don't have it in stock at the moment. There are shops and people bringing down specifically Honda parts. You can check with them.. Inbox me if you need more details..
  13. The app doesn't return the model details as well.. Seems a heavily tampered car..
  14. Yes, even though the mileages are high if the car is properly maintained and the necessary replacements have been made on time you need not be scared about the mileage as long as it is backed by maintenance records preferably at the agents so that you can also get it verified. These cars are built to last so going beyond 100,000 km isn't a bad thing. On the other hand a car having low mileage might give you more trouble under your ownership due to under usage as well. You'll be able to get hold of first owner cars maintained at the agents (both Civic FDs and Corolla 141s).. Yes, its one of the most fuel efficient cars out there.. but, suffers from battery and ABS system related issues.. an Aqua with a good condition battery would also won't be a bad choice if you can get it at a good price along with a buffer for the repairs.. Hey, buying a brand new one would also be stressful! Just imagine the thought of getting a brand new shiny car and driving off the showroom registered under your name and to realise that alone have devalued the car by a couple of hundred thousands its just that you will need to weigh the pros and cons and then decide.. there is no perfect car out there.. each will have their own strengths and weaknesses. You just have to select the one that you like so that you won't get frustrated in your ownership..
  15. It is the level of charge available at the time of scanning..
  16. Yes, the 1000cc Vitz isn't the most refined and comfortable hatchback out there.. As you are planning to travel 1500km per month, a hybrid option would actually suit you as you'd be able to save a decent sum from fuel costs. So, if the 1500km does not involve much severe traffic areas I'd say go for the GP5 as you like it.. if this involves some severe traffic runs the GP1 would be a better option as there is no dual clutch involved (given you get a car that doesn't fall under the serial numbers that have the oil burning issue and get a battery scan report done from the agents). Like @matroska mentioned the dual clutch repairing costs are coming down drastically with the mechanics getting to know the art of repairing them. Honda hybrid batteries aren't fragile as their Toyota counter parts and if you plan on selling it within 3 years you would most likely not encounter a battery replacement IF you get a good specimen properly scanned and verified to have a sound effective usable battery capacity. However, like all hybrids the resale value would most likely go down.. You could also have a look at sedan options like the Civic FD series and Corolla 141s as well..
  17. Well, if it was my money I would ditch the Raize straight away.. It is way over priced here in Sri Lanka and isn't worth the asking prices.. Vitara is a better vehicle overall and there's an ownership review of a forum member which had been quoted above. For your price point there would be brand new small Korean SUVs like the Kia Stonic and Hyundai Venue. But, keep in mind that they both sport dual clutch transmissions that might over heat if you are constantly driving in high traffic zones. However, they are backed by the agent's warranty for a decent time giving you the peace of mind. Then when it comes to the 2nd hand market you will come across more capable or better equipped vehicles like the Honda CRV RM generation, Kia Sportage, Kia Sorento, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Santafe, and then the familiar Vezels and CHRs. I have left out the Nissan X Trails owing to the bad reputation they have with regard to their transmissions. You might also see that there are some decent vehicles like Mitsubishi ASX and Subaru XV out there as well. So, you've got a decent selection of SUVs for your budget which you can decide based on what fits your needs best!
  18. Yes asking prices have gone over the roof these days.. Saw an advertisement for a 2020 Premio asking 10 million today on FB..
  19. Well, no one can actually tell really since you don't know about the history of the battery. The thing with Toyota hybrids is that they don't give an Effective Usable Battery Capacity percentage wise as in Honda hybrids. However, as I mentioned in the above comment; since, this is a 7 year old battery (may be some sort of repair or reconditioning had been performed by the previous owner(s), at some point of time which you are not aware of) you are talking about there can be certain deterioration on the cells causing them to hold a reduced amount of voltages over time. This would reduce the performance of the hybrid battery. This would happen to a new battery as well over time. I've seen battery cell voltages of high 16V in some Axio and Aqua hybrid scan reports. Anyhow, a brand new hybrid battery at Toyota Lanka would cost around 400,000/= for a Prius. So, keep that in mind. If you don't plan on running high miles under your ownership tenure, it might not be worthwhile as you won't be able to offset the above battery replacement cost via fuel savings.
  20. Well, judging by the looks of the report this seems to be a Toyota hybrid and scan report by Toyota Lanka, isn't it? This report has detailed out the individual battery cell voltages. The battery would be in good shape if all individual cell voltages are closely knit together, without much deviation. As per the report there seems to be slight variations among the cells with the maximum being 14.47V and the the minimum being 13.9V. Has the battery being replaced previously or any work done on it? Since, this is a 7 year old battery you are talking about there can be certain deterioration on the cells causing them to hold a reduced amount of voltages over time.
  21. Thanks @iRage
  22. @iRage were you able to test drive it? If so how is the driving feel and comfort of the Kicks?
  23. Did you check your door jamb? Usually those are indicated (tire sizes supported by the car and the recommended tire pressures) in a sticker, visible when you open the front door. However, if your car has been repainted before there is a chance that this sticker might not be there anymore..
  24. You can't get to know the actual mileage even by scanning via the agents scan tool as far as I know. You only know the mileage traveled by the car since the DCT was reset/ cleared. That is the mileage traveled after clearing all error codes etc. However, it can provide you with a hint that the mileages have been tampered with, if the system has not been cleared for a mileage greater than what is displayed in the odometer of the car. But, when it comes to the GP5, the dying 12V battery usually throw in a bunch of error/ warning indicators and that might need resetting the system. Therefore, hoping to identify the correct mileage of a car via this method by far is a long shot. Guess, it will be luck if you can catch mileage tampering from that
