Air Filter Help

Guys this is a fb14 with a GA15de engine.can anyone tell me what is this black box connected into the air filter line??what does it do?

cant really see from the pic but i think you're talking about the air box resonator.

afaik it's there to reduce intake noise and increase mid range torque

sorry bro for the pic i jst took it from net.its a round black box with only small one line output.its connected to the air intake hose..does it effect my air intake if its clogged??

when i remove it water vapours coming from exhaust lik from a horse.but with it car runing very rich and thrs carbon deposit in silencer.

Think your issue/question is not very clear... for one I doubt the car could be running rich just cos that unit is removed. Do you get a excessive petrol smell ? And why would you want to remove it in the first place ? Is it to improve performance as you believe it will give less resistance ?

Also for there to be carbon build up you may have been running it for a while in this manner ?

bro i doubt my car is not geting enough air when its conneted.when i first brght my car the thng was disconnected and water vapours came from silencer( thinks a good sign of good burining) had a good fuel consumption.but i connected it again to see if its doing any difference.lately my fuel consumption was so bad and thr was carbon deposits in my silencer.i did tune ups but it ddnt help.so yesterday i jst remove it myself again to see, viola its again vapouring water.i think now its burning fuel efficiently??

You could also go with the option of replacing the unit. I guess it was fixed to the car for a purpose so removing it entirely without knowing what its supposed to do could be risky in the long run. May mess up the air flow sensor reading etc..

maybe someone could chip in with a more precise technical concern of removing it ?

Don't think your problem relate to this box... If you remove that whole sensor readings get wrong readings.. But I saw some mechanics do that for several reasons. But not recommended. If you really pointing out Air box Resonator, I think it needs to run car in low rpms..

Your air flow sensor must be faulty. That's probably what's running from that box. When you disconnect, the ECU gets a static input and probably makes the mixture lean by taking in more air.

The solution isn't to connect it, but to replace the sensor, IMO. Why don't you run a diagnostic? It has a plug in port, right? Any decent mech should be able to do that
