Why No Hybrids In Sri Lanka

why is it that Toyota doesnt import n sell the PRIUS or any of the Lexus Hybrids in sri lanka?

if they work on an electricla motor upto 30MHp in colombo we'd be able to run purely on the Electrical motor!!

why on earth dont they bring it here???

Since there are no tax breaks...a hybrid would cost almost twice the price of a basic Corolla. So Toyota Lanka is not actively promoting it. There are a few cars running around town.

The older Prius/Eco/Platz models privately imported and there is a new Prius test car with Toyota Lanka.

I'm not sure, but thay do bring it and promote it here. They used to run ads on TV "The green reveloution is here". Don't know how successful the sales are tho. Besides...
