Machan KLM .... i know it hurt a bit, I'm a fan of nissan too. lets face reality i know GTR is a good car and i respect the way they build it and i'm also planning of buying one hope fully next year if not year after according to the availability. but till i die my main icon is MAZDA RX7 FD3s ( you made a mistake saying R35 runs against FC but that’s wrong GTR R35 Runs against FD3s 3 GEN RX7 FC is Second GEN RX7 ) and i'm so proud to say up to this date none of JDM Brands won the world recognized indurance race. remember up to this date none of the JDM cars won the le mans cup except the Mazda 787B.... for that we should be proud as asians and be thankful for the one and only rotary equipped manufacture Mazda. And you are talking about rx7 is modified. Obviously the both cars are modified for touge time attack I don’t get your point here. and the reamemiya FD3S has 320 or 340HP with stock turbo in it by the time it kicked the MCR GTR R34…. What do you say to this? I know it’s lil bit hurtful 1300cc engine beats 3000 cc and a Newly design V6 engin. Same thing happed after I raced against my brother’s supra and he lost they started to talk crap…. Not even my best friend stood beside me saying dilan you gonna win this race. It’s not all about your cars it’s about how you race your cars….lol … so I have this dvd and it’s on you tube now tell me what do you think? all these cars are stock same HP stock tires and GT500 first class drivers….. I like to know about your opinion? And to the rest don’t think I’m trying to shoot on any body or the GTR…. I love the fact that an RX7 can beat any car in any track. And that’s why Tsuchiya said that it’s a terror on all tracks.. And I’m a big fan of initial D that story based on DK’s past life.

LOL I know you're a fan of Mazdas so no worries there, but Johnny Herbert's lucky win in '91, your 'race' against your brother, what other people said and what the R34 did or didn't do in the past have no bearing on what I was saying - that the Amemiya car was disappointing. It had a favourable drivetrain setup (FR), much lower weight, not much less horsepower and obviously years of development and still barely managed to pull a marginal lead on the R35.

Ya my bad about saying an FC should run. I can barely remember which is which. And no, I'm not hurt that the R35 lost. Why would I be? :)

The RX7 RS is 4wd right? The FD is still one of the best looking Jap cars for me. Makes all those other cars except the NSX look hideous. Great video clips!!

as far as i know it's a FR car..... ;)

I think on a regular race-track, even the stock MCR R35 may have been able to pass the RX7.

Machan come on…. Any kindergarten kid knows r35 has more power than the rx7…..look at the engine’s CC rx7 has 1300cc 280hp r35 3.8 V6 480hp and the amemiya fd is 15 years old compare to the r35. look at the r 35 it has all the latest technology in it. So obviously stock r35 can leave the 280 hp stock rx7 with a doubt. But you still didn’t answer my question…. What do you think about the stock JDM races? R34 got kicked out by the rx7. same HP, stock tires…. and the cc vice gtr is in the front but yet lost to a FD…….

Touge races are based on this illegal race call “BOSS RACE IN MOUNTAINS FOR PINK SLIPS” it’s all about timing & tuning. drifting also before it became popular among people it’s a STREET illegal Race in japan…..look at drags… it’s illegal but they brought it on as a track event. So I don’t think touge races are stupid because an r35 gtr got beaten by a stock turbo equipped 1300cc rx7. They sell these video’s all around the world I highly doubt they are bullshitting, specially the HOT Version & Best Motoring. Also the MCR gtr r34 is driven by Tsuchiya but he loose the race to the same car. I know driver is very important to a race and also the car is very important too….

As a asian if you can talk like this I think the future is very dark. Because here the evo & the gtr was banded for a stupid reason before. “WHY” GM motors they know if they lunch these cars in here they don’t have a future for north American cars. Look at rx7 255 max HP in here….but people here they got the opportunity to drive JDM evo and the gtr’s and started to realized the amount of power these cars are putting out…. One gtr ( 1989 GTR OWNER ) said to me what’s the point of spending hundred thousand $ on a sports car witch can’t keep up with a modified JDM car….i was thinking to my self that’s very true… and my buddy who has a Ferrari has a FD and I ask him why? he gave me the same answer…. JDM old sports cars has 280HP and you can boost it up 1175HP with out a doubt….whether it’s the luck of the driver or the ability of the car, somehow Mazda is in the History. even though other’s produce super cars using newest technology noone stand’s on the top podium in lemans up to this day…….

I really don't give a rat's ass if this Amemiya RX7 beat the old R34. Aren't we talking about the new R35? I only said that the FD was disappointing because after all that development and that much of a weight advantage, it barely managed to eke out a minor advantage over a mostly stock R35. If anything, the R35 ran slightly more boost for that 20 PS advantage. You obviously don't get what I'm saying so I'm not going to bother discussing this with you. For the record though, I love the FC and FD series. In fact, I just went to see an immaculate FD shell being restored from scratch, with lots of bits from an RX7 that was actually raced in Japan.

By the way, doesn't the RE Amemiya RX7 run a 3-rotor, 2.0 litre engine from the Mazda Cosmo? If so, that's far from stock, and even you must surely agree with me.

Half these races are rigged. Touge racing is quite limited, so pure track racing will always be a better way to gauge a car's race worthiness. Drift 'racing' is good for people who want attention, and nothing else. Dude I have no intention of playing third-rate name-calling games here, so I won't respond to your 'white-trash' insult, but I will suggest that you try understanding what that means first. Read up on Le Mans 1991, and you'll find that it was a transition year with lots of new cars entered for a new series (World Sportscar Championship) and the serious efforts all had problems with pace and reliability. No doubt, a win is a win, and Mazdaspeed have the only win by a Japanese manufacturer so props to them, but the 787B achieved f**k-all apart from Le Mans '91. Even in the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship, the 787s and 767s were among the slowest cars. Seriously, read that shit you sometimes google and paste here.

Your stupid sense of patriotism (or rather, regionism? :) ) is quite misplaced - the 787 was designed by an Englishman, had a Porsche 5-speed gearbox and was raced to victory by a bunch of Europeans. Again, major props to Mazdaspeed for putting the programme together, but you need to have perspective on these things.

A more appropriate 'Asian victory' for you to celebrate would be Honda's class win at Le Mans in 1995, a GT2-spec Honda NSX. The all-Japanese driving team was led by your hero Keichi Tsuchiya. Again, read up on it if you don't believe me. In fact, the overall winning team that year was a Japanese effort, and featured a Japanese driver as well.

As for buggers who build 1000-hp show cars or put massively-heavy fibre kits on cars and then claim they're the fastest cars around on their cardomain pages( ;) ), words fail me, so I won't bother replying to this. Honestly though, why are you talking about easy-to-modify JDM cars here? What are you on?

Not really. According to the Top Gear review, they said that coz each engine is hand built by a single dude, output is different in each. The 480 is just the published figure. TG said that a stock car had been dynoed at 508. Also, I find it rather odd if they did something with the car beyond the breathing, coz they say the ECU is setup to be very difficult for people to play with, almost like Nissan don't want tuners messing around with it. I find it kind of strange, but that what I read somewhere.

Actually, it is true. It is just to get attention. Its not easy, definitely, but it isn't a speed thing. It requires lots of skills and car control, but the primary purpose is to get attention, not to go fast, or race. Thats not condemning it or anything, its still interesting to watch, as it requires a real high level of skill, as does normal racing, which requires a lot of skill to go fast.

Got a nice AR Performance RX-7 T shirt at the auto show. Was featured on Import Tuner some time back.
